We booked this hotel for one night to enable us to stay local to a friends's 50th birthday party. Originally the booking was for 2 rooms with 2 adults in each. Unfortunately after booking one of our party passed away. I called the hotel and explained the situation and visited the hotel and asked that the two rooms could be... More

We were a group of eight and every aspect of our night's stay exceeded expectations. The Mill is as attractive as it looks in the photographs and the location beside the canal lock is superb. We recieved a warm welcome and, after drinks in the garden, had a delicious, jovial meal in the ancient bar and dining room, seated beside... More

Whilst using the dry dock at the marina next door we had a couple of meals at the mill and we were perfectly happy with the food and the service. We visited on the first night of our stay and had dinner with some friends. The restaurant was busy and even though it seemed a little understaffed, Richard was still... More

The directions given on their homepage made this location very easy to find. The Mill is set in a lovely location, with a little stream and canal only about 100 yards away. The Mill itself was very quaint and quite quirky looking. And we was greeted after a few minutes and led to our room, whilst being given a little... More

We arrived about 7 on a Friday night, and booked a table for the evening in the Bistro, which we would highly recommend! Breakfast was amazing, too! Food here us completely delicious and really plentiful! Setting is gorgeous by the canal and river, there's a thoughtful screen on the window to stop the bugs and moths coming in at night.... More

We had the misfortune to stay 2 nights. Having been there before about 25 years ago we expected a comfortable relaxing stay in an idyllic setting. How wrong we were. The only good thing left is the setting. Our room had peeling wallpaper and a very basic bathroom which had a musty smell. The extractor fan did not work and... More

The prices are reasonable. The location is very good being quiet and by the river. The mattresses are good and sheets and towels crisp and clean. The hotel *is* tired but clearly in a process of renovation and improvement (my room incongruously had a very stained and old carpet but nice new wallpaper and bedside lamps). I could not actually... Thank you for taking the time to write your review. As you state in your review our mattresses are good and our towels crisp and clean. We cannot do anything about the height of the ceiling as you are staying in an 1874 mill building. You could however have asked to change rooms if this was a significant issue for... More

The Mill is off the beaten track but close to main rail links and stanstead airport. a place to wind down and be yourself. this is a budget hotel and if you come with this in mind then it will exceed your expectation. the home cooked food and friendly atmosphere make you feel at home.

The individual rooms are like little chalets and although not large are adequate and very cosy. The bed was very comfortable with loveley duvet and there was a counter with a kettle and things to make a hot drink. The ensuite bathroom was nice with a walk in shower/wet room and the room had a small TV also. It is... More

Miranda and Richard made us welcome upon arrival, We only stayed the one night as we attended a party nearby but have every intention to return. The service was first rate as was the breakfast. The setting is wonderful and the river was full of spawning Bream which wetted my appetite for a return trip. (soon)
