Very clean and proprieter very friendly. Bathroom a bit small but as we were staying for one night only it did not matter.Bed was comfortable and spotless. Breakfast was very good with a choice of Full English or cereals. It is a good stopover for Stanstead airport.

We stayed at Little Hallingbury Mill for 2 nights while visiting Bishops Stortford. It's a beautiful old mill across the river in stunning countryside. The owners were so friendly and helpful. We had the top floor room that overlooks the canal. The room is very cute and the bed extremely comfy. The only downside was the tiny bathroom which was... More

EXCELLENT, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, very friendly and welcoming. full of character and ambiance throughout, beautiful location. Very clean and comfortable. The food is amazing, excellent service. Love the rustic, it oozes character. It's definitely the best hotel we've stayed in, and it's cheaper and much better than a chain hotel. We will be returning again and again, love it!

Like a wobbly old bit of furniture that has been in the family for decades, that you can't stand to part with...that's what the Mill resembles. It's a multilayered box of tricks with narrow staircases, oddly shaped rooms, many nooks and a plethora of crannies. The location a is a delight, seemingly miles from anywhere, sitting atop the River Stort,... More

Dear geffel What a most splendid review! I love the descriptiveness - I hope that me and Richard are not the wobbly bits of furniture (but better to be old and wobbly than flat pack). I can envisage every word and have reread this several times - words can paint a million pictures. Thank you very much for making my... More

We stayed as a family at the end of June. The hotel is charming and full of interesting features including the original workings of the mill in the dining room. The garden by the canal is a perfect spot to enjoy a drink in the sunshine. Rooms are comfortable and clean and the comprehensive tea/coffee making facilities were appreciated. The... More

This is one of those independent places run by people who take great pride in what they do. It's location by the river and the quaint little marina make it a relaxing retreat and the service and food can't be faulted.

After much searching last year we decided to go with Little Hallingbury Mill for our wedding this year. We wanted a venue that was intimate, picturesque but not pretentious. LHM ticks all those boxes and so much more. My Best Man and I arrived the night before and were both given a lovely room to make sure we were in... More

Dear Richard & Rebecca What can we say???? I was really really choked to read such a beautiful review and don't feel that my response can do your comments any justice. A wedding day is one of the single most important days in a person's life and we feel honoured and humbled when someone chooses the Mill (and us!) for... More

The location is idyllic being near the banks of the river Stort overlooking the old Mill race with a marina. However after arriving we found it all a bit strange. The greeting from the owner felt a bit offhand as though he was otherwise occupied. The room has the potential to be full of character. The bed furnishings and curtains... More
