Me and my boyfriend booked this very last minute as our flight from Barcelona was delayed and we needed somewhere to stay as my boyfriend was far too tired to drive the 3 hours back home, the owner reserved the room for us and stayed up past half 11 to check us in. The room was lovely and the breakfast was...

Booked the private room upstairs. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners. Room was beautiful, food excellent and service tremendous. Highly recommend Little Hallingbury Mill for that special occasion.

Found this hotel several years ago. Superb, warm, cosy and friendly hotel so different from the standard anonymous airport hotels. Quite romantic in the summer when the mist is over the river Stort. It could be more than just a stop over for the airport

I stayed here for a couple of weeks away on business, it is in a beautiful location and is a very interesting building. All the staff have been incredibly friendly and are all very happy to help in any way they can! The rooms are comfortable and cosy, and have all the sufficient bathroom facilities. If I am in the...

This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed at... Actually we didn't make it through the night, because of the awful costumer service. The hotel Facebook page commented on one of my pictures, and we're very rude and aggressive, this is unprofessional and childish. We then contacted the hotel to see what the issue was, and while on the phone...

Thank goodness TripAdvisor allows a response mechanism to put right all the mistruths in your review. For the benefit of the readers of this review, the couple who checked in were a very young couple with no regard to rules, courtesy or indeed the concept of payment. After being checked in at around 4.30pm in by our front of house...

Arrived at 6.30 pm and very hungry - looking forward to a drink and dinner. Enter the premises ...ghost town, not a soul to be seen but tables set for dinner, just like the Marie Celeste. A man arrives, seemingly the manager. I told him I had a room booked, he searched and search, blamed the system, his phone, the...

Your view of the evening vastly differs from my recollection, so I decided to look at the factual data from our camera files, phone messages and emails. So the facts are: 18:06:11 You entered the Bistro 18:06:31 I came down to check you in 20 seconds later 18:09:40 I took you to your room and during this time you remained...

I went for an afternoon tea on Saturday afternoon in a group for a friends baby shower. I was very rudely poked on the shoulder and told to shut up while a man who I'm assuming to be the manager was serving our food. I was a bit taken aback by this. We were also left without any drinks being...

It is our standard practice to talk our guests through the assortment of culinary delights that are on our afternoon tea platters, firstly, so that they know what they are eating and secondly, in case there is anything that doesn't agree with them. On Saturday, I tried three times to convey this information to the rest of the table, but...

The building is lovely. Room was warm, comfortable and clean. The shower cubicle was very small, but adequate. Plenty of car parking. It would be a good idea if they suggest in their booking confirmation emails that a table is booked if dinner is required. We had the choice of eating on arrival or wating an hour and a half,...

This review is the partner of the 'Fawlty Towers' review above, but I do find it funny that he made a point of saying the room was cold and you say it was warm and comfortable! Thank you for at least pointing out the lovely charm of our small family run hotel. It does advise on both Booking.com and our...

Stayed the night after flying back to Stansted. Very close the the airport but not close enough that there's traffic or noise issues. The staff were very friendly and the food was fairly priced and tasty. The room was a good size, the bed was the comfiest we've stayed in all week and all the expected facilities were available. Exactly...

It was an absolute pleasure having you both stay at our hotel and glad that you enjoyed the good food, our great hospitality and our comfy beds!

Several of us stayed on business and every room had badly stained carpets, showers with mildew and grime in them and chipped sinks, with the water flow being blocked by I don't know what. Location and the outside of the building is unique, but..... We will not be back. It was a very unpleasant experience.

What I find confusing with reviews like this, is that not once did you make any request to change rooms or even complain? Even at breakfast I chatted to you both and you were cheerful and chatty. You also commented that the evening meal was really nice and you enjoyed our breakfast too! I admit that the room you stayed...
