Overall disappointed, surprised it's a 4star. Stayed in room 20. Arrived late on Fri eve to a room that hadn't been cleaned properly. Glasses of water left on the bedside table and empty packets of biscuits! Sheets had been changed though thank goodness. Following morning noticed the bathroom extractor and mirror light not functioning. Reported to reception. House keeping responded... More

We were treated out to a lovely meal and all six of us had starters and mains and then shared two desserts. It isn't cheap to eat here but one of our party had a taste card and this took 50% off the cost of the food so it came to under £100 for us all with this discount. We... More

Saturday night, the room was in a very noisy part of the hotel, affected by a noisy wedding party that had a licence till midnight. Booking agency did not point this out as an issue in advance at the time of accepting the reservation. Hotel was full so no chance of a room swap. Bedroom spacious. Adequate power sockets to... We stayed here for 2 nights as we were attending a wedding locally. Our room was great. The hotel very good and the staff pleasant. It was just a long walk to the room bar and restaurant. We ate in the bar the first night - it was fine typical bar food. We had a snack lunch the next day... More

A loud band and party played ten feet below our room. The hotel rented their conference room for a wedding party that ran until mid-night. The hotel refused to move us to a room away from the party. The rooms have poor sound insulation and the sound came into the room loud and clear.

Hi Hokie I was disappointed to read that you didnt enjoy your time with us, please accept my apologies for the this. The Hotel is extremely busy with other events that happen throughout the year. I am disappointed that in this case this disrupted your enjoyment, once again our apologies. Bruce Rowell General Manager More

The hotel is tolerable but not pleasant. Fixed head shower, old decor in need of refurb throughout. Restaurant lacks ambience and main room booked out for a older persons coach party. They got my bill very wrong. The grounds look quite pretty. If you remember the show then you might compare it to the ambience of crossroads motel.

Hi Artlover I am certainly old enough to remember the show, but my memory would seem to give me a slightly different viewpoint / recolection of the show. I am not quite sure how a 60s / 70s concrete block would create the same ambience as a Country House Hotel built circa 1500. I also wouldnt quite see myself in... More

Lovely hotel and grounds. Staff very polite and helpful. Food amazing. Presented lovely and did not have to wait long. Waitresses and waiters work hard to please their customers. Room was clean and tidy. Would visit again. Recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Shocking service! Stayed at this hotel previously and other than messing up the 3 double rooms we had reserved months previously the stay was pleasant enough. However on this occasion the service was awful! Checked in all ok at 7.30pm, the next morning went down for breakfast to he told our room number wasn't on the list... So we was... More
