As soon as we pulled into the car park we had drunks shouting at us outside the "hotel" upon entering to be hit by a sour unhealthy smell we made our way to bar/reception to be met by a stoned weirdo behind the bar, first thing he was you know there's no hot water right? Er no we didn't and... More

We have never stayed in a hotel where rooms have been so dirty and poor condition, uncomfy stained beds, dirty sink and bathroom floor, no hot water and dead flies in room. We had booked for stay 2 nighys but couldn't wait to leave after 1, luckily had half our money refunded.

We booked a night at the royal oak in a panic as we had left it until the last minute to get a hotel room for a wedding we were attending. After we had booked we read the reviews and definitely wouldn't have chosen to stay here based on these terrible reviews. Anyway that was our fault so we just... More

The night picture of this hotel, hides many things. This is a pub with rooms available. It is located on the edge of the town centre, on a very noisy street. On our arrival, the owner apologised for the fact that there was a problem with the water and as a consequence the showers didn't work. Luckily for us out... More

The day before I was due to travel, I received an email stating that there was a problem with the heating and the hot water supply, but there was one working shower and a portable heater in the bedroom. As I felt it was too late to make alternative arrangements, I agreed to stay at a reduced rate. (I was... More

Room was damp, fousty smelling, took roughly 5 mins for hot water to come through the tap. Well overdue a makeover and damp proofing. Also very difficult to open the window to get fresh air in. Not impressed at all with the room. The staff on the other hand were friendly and helpfull, a credit to the otherwise awfull room.... More
