We stopped by at the hotel for a drink and some lunch, we were served very quickly for the drinks and given the menu for the outside area ( this consisted of 7/8 items) We had made our mind up pretty quickly but had to wait a while to order the food, I had to get up and approach the server. When the ploughman's arrived one came and then about five minutes went before the second one arrived. This was served with bread but I had to ask for butter. The salad didn't have any dressing on too so I had to ask the server for that too. The quality of the cheese was good, I've had better ham in an average pub. It felt that because we were not residents we were second class citizens to them. I witnessed one couple leave as they were ignored. I'm sure if you fit "their image" you will have a wonderful time. If you are a young couple maybe find somewhere else, spend less and be served the way you would expect. If you're an older couple in tweed then this is place for you. Oh and £6 service charge automatically added to the bill... …
Another great visit for 7 nights thanks to Jeremy and his team! Lovely room, great surroundings and amazing food and service. Special thanks to Sergio for his great wine recommendations as always, he is the best Sommelier! And Paul never lets your glass get empty. My only suggestion would be that the evening menu should have more options for vegetarians, Pescatarians and Vegans. If you stay longer than 2 nights you have a very limited choice. All in all such a relaxing stay
Just back from a three night stay at this excellent hotel, the highlight of which was a superb four course meal in the Terrace Restaurant. Everything you would expect from fine dining - attentive service and a series of dishes which were imaginatively conceived and perfectly prepared. The canapés and desserts in particular were outstanding. For the whole stay we were well looked after by staff whose smiles shone through their eyes whilst we were all subject to the mask (the hotel management have taken great care to be Covid compliant)! Tea in the well laid out gardens was a relaxing pleasure after a day’s rambling and Monty’s offered simple, wholesome meals in both the restaurant and bar areas. We will be back!
We spent a night here on our way to the West Country and really were extremely impressed with the level of cuisine and service in the Terrace Restaurant. We would give them 10/10 for an outstanding evening. Our accommodation in the converted barn was equally good. High standard of finish and a very comfortable bed with a firm mattress. This hotel managed the Covid restrictions well and really could have not been more accommodating. Breakfast was also a high standard with a good selection of both cold and hot dishes served to you at your table. We shall definitely visit again. Phone signal not great unless you have Vodafone however there is wireless internet.
We stayed for one night for my husband's 60th Birthday, it was absolutely wonderful from stepping in to stepping out. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful in every area of the hotel. Our room and the hotel itself was immaculate and exceeded all our expectations. The great service and choice of beverage brought to our room in the morning was a lovely touch. The beautiful, well kept gardens were a joy to sit in and relax over a drink. We would not hesitate to come back in the near future. Thank you to all of the staff for making our visit so special.
