Detailed Reviews
Great location to explore the Test Valley and surrounding area! The pub was friendly and helpful. My room was clean, decorated very tastefully and comfortable. There is a very modern fridge (wall mounted) in the room with bottled water (this can be switched off at night if the noise disturbs you) excellent room facilities - iron, coffee machine etc. good wifi connection. Even though it’s located on a roundabout the noise didn’t disturb me!
Evening meal and breakfast was very good.

As disabled travellers, finding a decent, reasonably priced hotel is difficult. The White Hart has an excellent accessible room with a large wet room with hand rails and a shower stool. The bedroom is spacious and well presented able to accommodate the use of a wheelchair. The bed is comfortable and as a whole, it was spotlessly clean. The food was excellent (in particular the Chocolate Marquise will be remembered fondly). My husband has a dairy issue and they were able to adapt menu choices to accommodate his lactose intolerance, whilst still presenting a delicious meal. Staff were all friendly, polite and helpful. There is a disabled parking space directly outside the room for ease of transfer from car to room. There is level floors across the rooms and into the restaurant. There was a good choice for breakfast and the sausages were particularly tasty. Overall a very enjoyable stay and will definitely stay again.

A lovely weekend with good friends in a welcoming and comfortable Inn.
Friendly and efficient check in. As requested, we had 2 ground floor rooms which were ideally neighbouring. The rooms were spotless and tastefully decorated, with the added bonus of a fridge, which did NOT disturb our sleep. One of the rooms was larger with comfortable sofas, allowing both couples to rendezvous for a chat .
Parking was close to the rooms, a real bonus.
We ate both nights in the pub and enjoyed well cooked pub grub. The bar/waiting staff were a credit to the management, great personalities and efficient.
It's in a wonderful location at the top of the high street. Plenty of walks nearby along the river Test.
The only teeny suggestion, more loo rolls in the rooms!!! Though the staff quickly gave us extra when asked!!
All in all, a lovely stay and will hopefully return.

Extremely disappointed with the food and service
There was 3 of us
My chips ( very small portion) were cold so I sent them back
The 3 meals were delivered at 3 different times spamming best part of 4 minutes
When I asked for some sauces they also took a time to arrive. Surely the sauces should be there when the food arrives
My Wife’s dinner was particularly poor with the Burger Cheese solid from I presume sitting under a heated lamp
The additional ÂŁ2.50 for a slice of rock hard Bacon was the last straw which was not edible. Could not wait to leave
In a nutshell, overpriced especially for the quality and portion size and would not recommend. Will certainly not return
On a positive note the young people serving us done their best
Certainly not their fault the management oversee serving of poor food

We stayed here as part of a weekend away in august 2023. Upon arrival at the room, my husband went downstairs to ask if the fan noise etc from the kitchens were switched off at all. We were told they went off at 10.30/11.00pm. These fans were very noisy and our room was directly above the kitchen. The fans did go off at around 11.00 but the freezers located beneath our window was also very noisy especially at 2am! I contemplated going downstairs into the pub area to sleep on a sofa! Of the 6 lights in the bathroom, only 2 were working, one of the broken bulbs was actually taped up with what looked like Sellotape. The window lock cable on the bedroom window was broken/not locked meaning anyone could fall from the window if leaning out to see what the noise was. The bed was broken, (a bar was just loose under the bed). The bed was extremely uncomfortable and sagged in places. We thought that at least the full English breakfast in the morning might be ok but we were wrong. The FULL English consisted of 1 small round hash brown, 1 sausage, 1 piece black pudding, 2 pieces of streaky bacon (which was saturated in oil so much so that it was inedible),mushrooms, tomato, beans. There were fruit and croissants etc too, but the croissants on the first morning were under cooked and very stodgy.. The room cost us almost ÂŁ300 for a standard room for 2 nights. We feel that the room was inadequate. We gave our concerns to the assistant manager on duty and the only response we had was "Sorry about that".
Save your money and find somewhere else to stay that is worth the money as we feel that this definitely isn't worth the money and was overall very poor quality all-round!. If we hadn't already prepaid we would have held off paying the bill!

Dear carolF2980QO, thank you very much for leaving your feedback following your recent stay with us. We are very sorry that you visit wasn't as enjoyable as you had expected, and that some of the light bulbs were out in your bathroom. We are also more than happy to take specific room requests upon booking, should you choose to return in the future. We have only recently replaced the bed in the room that you stayed in, and the mattress is still less than 3 months old, however we will thoroughly examine the bed frame for any damage. Regarding your breakfasts, we are more than happy to provide as much of any item from the menu that you would like upon request, as the complimentary hotel guests' breakfast has no limit. However, we find that if we include too much of any item on a standard Full English breakfast a lot of it goes to waste, which we are obviously keen to avoid. We hope to welcome you back again in the future for an improved visit, best wishes Paul & the team

Our annual visit to Stockbridge to see my cousin, we always stay in the White Hart and it has not disappointed. Room is very comfortable and very well equipped, always ask for room 19 as it’s accessible and my husband has mobility problems. Staff were excellent very friendly and accommodating. Food was excellent especially the breakfast. Well done again to Paul and his team, keep up the good work and looking forward to our next visit.

Rooms are newly built and very well equipped. Pod coffee , fridge etc. We needed 5 rooms of different types , some with ground floor access and others with splenty of space for baby equipment etc. Paul gave us very accurate information and recommended which rooms we took for our family members and we were all delighted with them. Top marks.
The Restaurant has a small but varied menu with something for everyone. The veggies were well catered for so were happy (phew!). This isnt gastro pub dining but it is good honest pub meals well prepared with good quality ingredients. Just what our group needed.
All staff from manager to housekeepers were super friendly and eager to please , answering any special requests very quickly.
If i had a tiny improvement point one of our hungrier men found the cooked breakfasts a little light but the rest of us were fine with them.
Highly recommend this place for accomodation or a good quality pub meal.

The perfect getaway. Such a warm welcome from all the staff, all so helpful and kind. Room was homey and cozy, our little dog loved it. Room was warm as soon as you walked in and had all the little bits you need. We went for dinner Sunday evening, wow, it was amazing, I had the roast beef that was cooked perfectly and the gravy and veg were to die for, with Yorkshire puddings the size of your fists! My partner had the burger and he said it was one of the best burgers he’s had in a long time. Highly recommend and will definitely be back.

Lovely stay at the White Hart, friendly helpful staff, rooms are spotless and very quirky.
Food at Dinner and Breakfast was of a very good standard, plenty of choices and acceptable waiting times for freshly cooked food.
5 minutes walk into Stockbridge and the River Test,
We will stay here again and recommend it to anyone for business travel in the area or for tourists exploring the Test Valley and surrounding area.

We try and visit my cousin every year and always stay here, the staff are amazing. We had the same room as last year (19) so very happy as it’s spacious and very comfortable. They always provide fresh milk and the very trendy fridge, this is a bonus as hate the little pots of long life milk. Pub is very welcoming and food is always excellent, very good choice at breakfast all freshly cooked. Can’t wait to visit again, thanks Paul and your team.
