I stayed here overnight with two friends. The pub is beautiful and the food is delicious. The cooked breakfast in the morning is one of the best I've had. I stayed in room 5 which is a triple room. It was very comfortable and had everything you'd expect. Its in a brilliant location as its close to amenties and only...

Having heard that the pub has a new chef, from friends who said they had an excellent meal here, we decided to try the pub out... We went on a weekday night in January so, as suspected, the pub wasn't busy but not lacking in atmosphere in anyway. We were greeted by very friendly amicable staff who went the extra...

Very pleasant, light and airy pub with friendly landlord and staff. The chef was very accommodating in serving us delicious lunch food from the bar menu which was normally unavailable that day. Breakfast the following morning was good - especially the bowl of mixed fresh fruit which was really delicious. Choices of yoghurt and cereals and full English cooked breakfast....

We booked 2 rooms for 2 nights for a family wedding. The pub was closed when arrived, someone came out and showed us to our rooms, left us with no information at all. Rooms are outside the pub! Rooms were tatty, bed lumpy, 2 lights in ours didnt work, bathroom was dirty, one towel each, no phone, no phone service...

We stayed last night, just for one night. And though the stay was OK, it was nothing startling and certainly not worth £100 per night. Staff were excellent, first thing to say - the best thing about the place. The room was very basic - cheap pine bed, see-through short curtains which let the light in, nothing particularly characterful or...

I had phones to book and enquire about the menu and was told that the full menu would be available. I booked for 12 noon. My sister and her husband arrived first, on a freezing cold day, having travelled from Truro, to be met with a freezing cold pub, a table that was set up next to the toilets which...

The Cricketers has all the makings of a great pub : 2 open fires, clean freshly laid tables with spotless white napkins, friendly waitresses. A new chef & new menu were advertised too. Menu was small (not a problem) but on offer were steak & ale pie & chips, fish & thick cut chips, steak & chips, burger & chips,...

Stayed overnight as had an early appointment the next day. Arrived early evening and had a quick supper, menu was small but enjoyed an expensive steak. Went to room which was basic and the bathroom in need of updating however the linens were clean and the water was hot. I could not tune the TV so went to ask for...

This is good, clean accommodation in a very nice location . Food and beer was also good. The only problem was the TV was not working in the room, and when we left, there was some confusion over settling the bill.

Stayed overnight and left my favourite nightshirt behind by mistake. The owner posted it back to my home address. He also cooked a delicious breakfast and was charming and personable throughout our short stay. Comfortable and clean room too.

The Cricketers Inn can be found in the charming village of Steep. Though located just 5 minutes drive outside of the market town of Petersfield it is perfectly located to explore the beautiful South Downs landscape. Nestled at the foot of the majestic ash hangers that provide walkers and ramblers the Hangers Way - a beautiful 21 mile walking trail between Alton, through to Hawkley, Petersfield, Buriton and ending at Queen Elisabeth country park. The route offers great views of Hampshires countryside, a great selection of pubs and inns and rich and varied history - from Bronze age burial mounds to Roman settlements, and the village of Steep is the last residence of poet Edward Thomas before departing for France during WWI and the natural surroundings heavily influenced his works.Petersfield town and the square often holds craft and farmers markets and offers an array of shops, restaurants and activities to visitors. The South Downs Way is also easily accessible providing the intrepid walker or cyclist 100 miles of rural Hampshire to explore. The East Hampshire Cycle route also passes through Steep and is a popular track.
