Attended an annual get-together with friends. Went last year and left disappointed as previous years always good. This year was great. We were welcomed and my dietary needs were well met, they excelled. The service was great as was the carvery which had an enthusiastic and friendly young man serving. An excellent atmosphere made it a good evening. Next year... More

Excellent place to stay. Great food. Nice rooms. Great staff. Big lounge area with sofas. Nice well stocked bar. Carvery is a must. £6.95. Plenty of meat. Quiet location. Nice local pubs. Easy to get to Alton & Petersfield.

This hotel doesn't deserve the reviews it gets the staff are lovely and helpful and very friendly. The atmosphere is typical of a country pub with background music and comfortable relaxed seating. A tv on the wall in the lounge. Conference facilities. The carvery is wonderful as is their breakfast. Rooms are in need of a little updating but they... More

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your kind comments with the tripadvisor community. It is always very rewarding when all our hard work is appreciated. Our "rolling" programme of refurbishment should indeed go some way to redressing some of the comments that have been made about some rooms being in need of refurbishment. We look forward... More

Stayed here on a business trip, rooms were excellent, clean, towels fresh and good facilities in the room, good parking for van, good wi fi connection, comfortable bed however only downside is the food, I ordered a burger which was about £13.00 and it was terrible, the bread was stale the burger was overcooked and made for a pretty poor... Staff & service was excellent. All requests were happily accommodated. The only thing that could have made our stay more comfortable would of been air con or a fan in the room. The room got very warm & the noise from the busy road prevented us from having the windows open throughout the stay. We had two double rooms 208... More

Booked this hotel as a one night stop over for myself and wife. Check in was quick and simple. Friendly staff all around. Room was a good size and very clean. Bed large and comfy and very quiet hotel. Didn't eat for dinner but food and carvery options looked very nice. Decent prices at the bar for drinks. Had the... More

After some research via google this hotel seemed an ideal point for an overnight stay before an early morning ferry sailing from Portsmouth being approximately 30 minutes away from the ferry terminal. I then did what I normally do before booking any hotel-checked with TripAdvisor! After comparing the Excellent and Very Good reviews against the Poor and terrible ones I... More

Easy to find with a large car park. The rooms were clean, comfortable. The meal and service were excellent, the ostrich steak was particularly good, unfortunately there was only one left! Drinks were also reasonably priced.
