Fabulous two night break bed breakfast and evening meal, staff very helpful. Evening food of fine dining may not suit some appetites. Close proximity for travelling to SS Great Britain and the Suspension Bridge of Brunnell.
Beautiful place to stay, the staff were wonderful, we went in December so the castle was beautifully decorated for Christmas with huge Christmas trees and stunning decorations The food in the restaurant was really first class you feel very special staying here
A lot of thought and care has gone into this amazing property. A perfect balance between original features and modern day luxury comforts which compliment the aesthetic. We were upgraded to a suite and had the most amazing night. Thank you.
Excellent service provided by friendly staff. Modern luxuries ( amazing shower and highly recommend the hot chocolate supplied with the kettle ) combined with period furnishings, creating a sense of grandeur. Breakfast was extremely satisfying with a varied selection, and the dinner tantalised the taste buds. It was a fabulous experience, thank you!
The bedrooms & staff efficiency would be hard to beat or better, just tiny amounts in fine dining let it down. The rooms are extremely clean and welcoming and the castle ambiance permeates throughout the building. A bygone era brought to life. Rooms are expensive so limits the length of stay to one or two nights and not a week.
The staff, food and hotel are all of the highest standard. The popular music playing in the restaurant in the evening was reminiscent of a motorway service station. After two tables asked for the music to be quietened and then turned off we achieved dining peace without noise pollution.
Historical, atmospheric and luxurious - if those three things are what you look for in a hotel, look no further. The rooms are very well appointed, the staff are very accommodating and the grounds are stunning.
Brings to life the history of the castle and its royal connections. Well worth reading the stories and walking around the outside, although understandably some of the castle buildings have not been restored. An outstanding restaurant, including a wonderful vegan tasting menu. We used the useful electric car charging point, although this is not a fast charger.
We had a great weekend, hotel and service was high quality. Stayed in the Catherine of Aragon Tower Suite, which had a massive four-poster bed (was impressive). 6 course meal was great. I would consider coming back.
We have just come back from an amazing overnight stay at Thornbury Castle. Everything was perfect! Reception staff were friendly - we were early and they took our bags whilst we relaxed with a drink in the lounge and then a walk around the beautiful walled gardens. Our room was clean and sumptuous. Throughout our stay we found staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. The whole castle is beautiful - from the inside décor to the outside. The village is a short walk away and a pleasant place for an afternoon or an evening meal. Highly recommend.
