The hotel was formerly a farm (albeit in the middle of the village) and has been sympathetically and tastefully converted. Our room was a "Hen" room ( they are graded by size starting with "Bantam") and was a good size, tastefully appointed with a very good bathroom with a large bath and separate walk in shower. Everything was spotless -... More

We had a "budget" hatchling room for 2 nights on a summer escape offer to include breakfast, a la carte dinner and walking guides, some from the front door. Room was lovely, full of character and nice touches. The food was very very good; breakfast with fresh juice, lovely porridge, bacon, sausages etc. Dinner good as well. Only problem was... More

My husband and I stayed here for part one of our first anniversary celebrations and couldn't have asked for better. The setting is idyllic, the rooms really tastefully decorated and the staff really helpful. They'd thought of everything - from researching walking routes around the local area to home made short bread and fresh milk in the rooms. After a... More

I was treated to a one night stay here on a DBB basis by my other half for my birthday, he found the break on secret escapes. It was perfect. The location is in a quiet village and there are some great views when driving to the hotel through the forest. The reception area is bright and airy (considering it... More

Such a lovely place, the gardens are beautiful as was our room. My husband stayed here in recent years on business and wanted to show me it and I was not disappointed! We had food in the restaurant- yes it is expensive and yes the portions are small BUT the flavours were amazing so in my opinion worth the money.... More

We were lucky enough to find this place at short notice and just wish we could have stayed longer! Beautiful setting with well tended gardens - lovely sitting out there in the sun having breakfast. Comfortable room, friendly, efficient staff and we'll make sure our next visit is for longer.

My husband and I stayed two nights at this delightful hotel on a dinner, bed and breakfast deal. From start to finish everything about this hotel was perfect. Wow! What a great place to visit... Beautiful. Must see! Clearwell is a quaint village. Old. 13th century. Ponder this as you enjoy a pint in the flower garden. The food is delicious. The walk through the village takes you back in time! Walk to the Clearwell Castle and stroll through the grounds. St. Peter's Church is a gem, as... More

This was a return visit after having had a good experience a while ago, but we were very disappointed with a very ordinary tasting meal.
