We stayed in The Loft, a beautiful suite, light and airy and the perfect setting for a romantic weekend. The food was delicious and the staff lovely and friendly. We tried out the Float in The Forest flotation centre on the way there and it really set the scene for a relaxing time. We hired E bikes and cycled in the Forest on Saturday - it was freezing so mulled wine has never been so welcome! We also had massages on site, so were well and truly spoiled.

Hotel's Favorite
Our visit to the Tudor Farmhouse Hotel was a real pleasure. The hotel is located in the village of Clearwell in the Forest of Dean - off the beaten track but close to places worth a visit. We had a warm welcome on check-in and were taken to our small, but well-appointed room in what, we assumed, was the original 'farmhouse'. We had the Tasting Menu and (optional) 'Wine Flight ' on our first night and were impressed by the quality of the interesting, beautifully-presented dishes, efficiently served by friendly staff. The wines offered were of excellent quality, including a very good Welsh Pinot Noir. After a day of sight-seeing - Monmouth and Symonds Yat - with a return between the two outings for a cream tea, we enjoyed another excellent 3 course meal accompanied by another Welsh wine - Bacchus from Tintern Parva. Our breakfasts were equally enjoyable - ordered at the table and freshly prepared. All in all an excellent expefience. Thanks to all at the hotel.

We loved our visit to the Tudor Farmhouse. The rooms are spacious and beautifully presented with gorgeous toiletries. Car parking is on-site and few steps away from the bedrooms. Staff are welcoming and friendly. There’s lots of local walks starting from the hotel for those who enjoy hiking - you can download them from the link you’re sent before you join. We stayed on a two-night autumn leaves break which was excellent value as it included breakfast, dinner, cocktails and a small gift set. The food was delicious - see separate review on the restaurant page. Only one small issue with the Amazon fire stick and our television but otherwise perfect!

Delightful staff, beautiful bedding, great food. We enjoyed every moment. Definitely the place to go to shake off autumn blues and explore the beauty of the forest and its fascinating industrial archaeology. After a day's walking and adventure the restaurant is the perfect place for a relaxed evening of lovingly presented food with several imaginative twists. Clear the diary -we can't wait to visit again!

We had a lovely stay at the Hotel. Friendly, helpful and attentive staff, a great atmosphere. Nice to have a choice of seating (different areas and rooms) for Dinner and Breakfast. Fine dining, quality produce and superb freshly cooked breakfast. Beds exceedingly comfortable - bit of advice if you have preference for different firmness of pillow you MUST tell them before arrival.

We enjoyed a 2 nights DB&B break here last week. Comfortable warm room with en-suite shower room. Room away from main hotel but this was acceptable. Clearwell is a small village in the Forest of Dean. Excellent food & staff. Would recommend.

The whole place is very pleasant and upmarket and we had a nice cosy room with a good bathroom (number 21). We were part of a group of about 20 staying for 2 nights and whilst the food was quite good, the pleasant staff seemed a bit stretched by the numbers. We had beef one night and it was a very small portion with a lot of fat and gristle. Overall - much to like, but the food could have been better.

Despite appalling weather my short stay at this hotel was utterly delightful. From the moment of arrival the staff made it clear that nothing was too much trouble for them. My wife and I loved our suite which was impeccable in every way. Bedlinen, towels, pillows and all the accoutrements were top-notch. Because of the weather we were unable to enjoy any of the numerous walks which were kindly advertised in Reception, but that can be remedied on a later visit. A highlight of our stay was the food, which was outstanding, and will be covered in more detail in a separate review. Suffice to say that this is a true gastronomic gem in the heart of the Forest of Dean.

A weekend away in the Forest of Dean to celebrate a birthday and our accommodation couldn't have been better. The accommodation was delightful with every detail thought of - variety of pillows, fresh milk in the fridge, dressing gowns, umbrella (just in case), beautiful products in the bathroom which included a separate bath and shower. All the staff were so friendly and courteous and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was a delight - especially the sausages and yogurt with compote. The quality and variety of cocktails was superb and the dinner menu excellent.
