I was there last year and the stuff was very friendly the gave me room with shower instead of room with sharing bathroom for the same price. Room was very clean and after refubrishment. Hotel is situated near the beach and a few restaurants. It's close to Westcliff-on-sea station and you can also walk to the center of Southend -on-sea.

It's fine. Clean, a place to sleep a few hours, reception is polite. It is nothing to remember but it doesn't pretend to...hence the 5 stars. The room was ok, decent modern bathroom, tv, coffee facilities. Only drawback breakfast served 8-9:30.... So what if you need an early start?

One night in a family room, room 6, with one double bed and one single. It was clean, comfortable and well appointed; bath with shower over, towels, tea, coffee, soap, TV and free wifi. It was just about possible to see the sea from the balcony. Parking was adequate. The receptionist was friendly and efficient. Breakfast was hot and fresh...

This is a lovely hotel with extremely nice and helpful staff. Perfect for a short stay. Comfortable bed, clean and well equipped. Close to town, beach and train station. Also only a 2o minute walk from the pier which is meant to have the longest pier. I didn't quite get that far as it was only an overnight stay for...

Spent a weekend here sleeping on the floor as the spring mattress was too worn out; the springs popping out of the too tiny mattress not being enough to comfortably rest my 1.85 meters. Really bad experience.

We stayed at this hotel last year when visiting family and were delighted in the way they accommodated us as a couple and our 4 children with rooms next to each other. On this occasion despite specifically requesting the same rooms, we were given the same family room as before and a double 2 floors higher. The family room was...

We stayed at the Welbeck for the second time (see review posted in March 2015) for one night. This time we stayed in the family room (room 5) at the front of the hotel. Whilst the room was large, clean and good value, we did have niggles about our stay. Firstly, on checking in, we weren't asked if we wanted...

Visited this hotel back in August with my son.I was disgusted with the appalling state of this place. The room we had(No 15) was grim. Bathroom was gross, cracked sink, grotty and broken bin, hairs near drinking glasses, filthy grouting around tiles, half a toilet roll, rusty shower rail. The bedroom was not much better, the bed my son had kept banging onto a window everytime he moved, bedside cabinets...
