We stayed for one night and was pleasantly surprised by the room, having expected something older and not quite so comfortable. We had room 9 and other than a rather poor shower, were well satisfied. We were told that the bathrooms are being upgraded next year. We didn't eat at the hotel in the evening as friends had told us...

Arrived at the hotel to find the chef had gone home and there was no possibility of getting a sandwich. This was 8.30 pm. Room scruffy, broken crisps on the floor from previous visitor. Room up 3 flights of stairs and cold and dreary.

Stayed here one night before a morning flight from Stansted Airport ( 15 mins away.) A very comfortable hotel, rooms of a high specification, nicely furnished. Lovely breakfast cooked to order. Ample parking at the back. Will definitely use again next time we have an early flight from Stansted.

I went for a quick sandwich at lunch and the bread was stale. I had been warned that the place was falling apart but you know how people exaggerate. Well we decided to go back for dinner and do you know what it was even worst. I believe they have was is known in the trade as a new chef....

Stayed here last weekend. My room had lovely furniture and a really comfy bed but housekeeping and maintenance needs attention. The plug socket for my phone to charge was next to a bedside cabinet and when I looked it was thick (& I mean thick) with dust. The toilet flush ran all night and the shower was very tired -...

Have eaten here before and the long wait for food has not previously been an issue. This was a Friday lunch time - we were initially the only four in the restaurant and at its busiest there were eight covers. The waitress who served us was friendly and efficient but the food took forever, initially they had to go and...

Stopped over 1 night for for stanstead airport, great location and able to leave the car for 15 days in the car park at no extra cost, and it was safeand sound when we returned. The bedroom was nice but a bit tired, especially the bathroom. We backed onto the car park at ground level , which was a bit...

The hotel building has lots of character. It is a lovely old building, and the restaurant has little windows overlooking the main street. The rooms are all over the place in different parts of the building. I was in 26 which is a simple room again with character, across a small parking area. The staff are helpful, and the food...

Executive (?) room 26; no, it wasn't. It's in a courtyard of outhouses, compact (ok, small), comfortable bed, previous resident's chocolate bar wrapper behind the bedside table, cobwebs, central heating not working, reasonable shower which leaked onto the floor (easy to see where as there is a hole in the floor by the doorway where it's leaked for possibly years),...
