Close to shops, beach and all local entertainments, theatres, etc. On site parking is limited so we can only reserve under special circumstances, however ample space is available at public car park directly opposite.
Clean, comfy, basic but got everything you need. Kettle Tea and Coffee in your room.We also had an ironing board and iron fixed to the wall. Not used though. 2 min walk from the pier and surrounding areas. Ideal spot. Would recommend.
Dated, very dated. BUT, clean, comfortable bed, great location and great price. It’s seconds from the pier. Did not eat at the attached restaurant but it was busy so probably worth checking out. Had some parking but if all full there is a car park across the road. If I went back to the area would probably stay there again.
Room was small for the price and the en-suite ‘bathroom’ was ridiculously small. You barely have room to close the door behind you. The window didn’t close properly so not only was it cold, we could hear all the chavs with their shouting and swearing outside the hotel. The whole place creaks and groans and decor is awful. On the plus side, staff were really friendly and breakfast was piping hot and freshly cooked.
Booked a twin room without breakfast as we felt an extra £7 each was far too much to pay. The room was clean but very small. We couldn't fully open the bathroom door without hitting one single bed. We had to move the bed over at an angle to open the bathroom door. I bruised my foot badly getting out of bed at night to use the bathroom as my foot hit the side of the slightly open bathroom door. The shower was just adequate. It was just ok for a shower but very little power to it. The bathroom was dated with shoddy wooden shelf and mirror. There was no extraction at all. The UHT milk that we got from reception had all curdled so had to be chucked. The pillows were awful; so lumpy. The room was warm so with the window open on a Saturday night there was constant noise from the Karaoke and bars across the road. The noise went on way past 1am. people shouting and screaming in the streets just added to the general bad night's sleep. The staff were friendly and the place was very clean but I would never stay here again.
Booked for a double room for two nights at £74 per night that included breakfast for two. Greated with a warm friendly welcome before heading to our allocated room number 27 on the top floor. Our first impression was that based on this room, the hotel is in desperate need of updating and maintenance. This became even more evident by the fact that an electrical socket was loose on the wall with electrical items last tested for safety in 2013. The TV was an older generation, but struggled to get a good signal on some of the channels. I did also note that the screws holding the TV were hanging by a thread. Bed was comfortable and reasonable night sleeps had (minus the Seagulls, but I expected that for being so close to the seafront) Never experienced hot water pressure being better than the cold, until now; this made for an interesting and powerless shower. Breakfast was ok, full english was rather greasy with a very low quality sausage on offer, so opted for a poached egg on the second morning. Although the friendly breakfast lady was rather busy, accommodated our request. The free WiFi was weak and when we could connect, rather slow. Resorted to using my mobile 4G.
If we were to visit Clacton again, we would look to stay elsewhere.
