We stopped in for drinks after lunch and instantly fell in love so booked dinner. We adored the atmosphere. Mis matched furniture, open fire, clever design, fabulous toilets, beams made of books.... very quirky and original! And then there was the service. Friendly girls who were on the ball; unobtrusive but attentive. And then there was the food....exceptional! Not a...

Ambience is the key factor here. The public spaces in the bar and restaurant are very cosy, quirky and ooze charm. Similarly our room, quirkily named "The benefit of the doubt", was a spacious shabby chic affair with large bathroom and copper bath tub to die for. The bedding is crisp white cotton and the mattress sumptuous, if a little...

The outside of the restaurant is lovely, and it is situated in a lovely area. The interior of the inn is very nicely decorated with some cool quirky features. The menu is small but has some very appealing options. We chose halloumi bites to start, which were lovely. We had the cote de boeuf steak to share which was amazing....

Just had a 2 day stay booked through Secret Escapes. Lovely room "Anything is Possible" full of quirky features but so dark even with all the lights on and not helped by having to keep the curtains drawn as overlooked the Main Street. The staff were all helpful and breakfast and evening meal were very good. But what spoilt it...

GOOD - love the interior. The feel of a traditional pub but with added quirkiness. The serving staff were faultless - extremely helpful and polite. The starter dishes were all very good and so we thought we were in for a treat... but sadly it went downhill thereafter. BAD - Three of us had fish and chips, which basically was...

My partner and I stayed at The Bell for a weekend treat. The bedrooms are very quirky with many nice features (the photo attached shows the amazing flower ceiling in the Pour L'Amore lodge!) which is a nice change from the standard modern hotels. You feel very secluded inside your lodge and the unique decor makes it a memorable stay....

We held our wedding here in November and cannot praise the team enough. Tessa, Zoe and Pippa really made the effort to wow us and ensure that every detail was covered. Food was on point and service was attentive, personable and professional. Feedback from our friends and family was fantastic, many commenting on the quality of the food and the...

Enjoyed a lovely one night stay here in the Pour L'amour lodge. Lodges are brilliant for a couple with well-equipped bed and bathroom; would love to come back in Summer to use the firepit. Dinner was good value in the evening but the menu doesn't seem to be that focused; lots of picky bits and not many main courses. However,...

This is really a great little Inn, full of interesting and quirky rooms, although our experience was poor I would still recommend you give it a try. Let me explain, arriving lunch time we were able to check-in and quickly left to go to a party, returning for a nap later in the afternoon, it was disturbed by what we...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Bell is a truly quirky hotel and pub in the heart of the village of Ticehurst, East Sussex. Bedrooms in the main building are warm and comfortable, some featuring a copper roll top bath. There are four lodges built around a fire pit in the garden and include the extraordinary Love Nest. The restaurant serves modern British prepared from local and seasonal ingredients, whilst locals gather in the pub for local real ales and a roaring fire in winter. Weddings and celebrations a bit of a speciality. ... more   less
