Really nice food, cheap and cheerful. Nice big portions also! A little more attention from staff would have been nice but you get what you pay for I guess. Peaceful place and garden is big food outside eating! Lots of nice places to walk nearby through the forest and surrounding areas.

I wish to thank sincerely the wonderful staff at The Roebuck Hotel for their care and thoughtfulness. This applied not only for my daughter for her wedding but the whole stay for us all was made special by the caring staff. The pre-wedding evening meal was great and breakfast each morning very satisfactory. Thank you all

The hotel is extremely dated, and is in desperate need of some TLC. For the price we paid, the room really wasn't up to scratch. All be it clean, and a place to crash after being at a wedding, the room had a terrible smell about it, and with windows that won't open, it wasn't an enjoyable experience. That being... More

On arrival the reception desk was unmanned but someone arrived quickly to assist. When we checked out we waited approx 10 mins along with 4 others for attention. No bell on desk so unless you want to go looking, you must wait for a staff member. Not good service. The staff are all busy so this is a management issue.... More

Stopped here for lunch. Found some great priced lunch deals food was excellent food of a good quality service excellent sat in the terrace with views of the ash down forest. Needs a bit of tidying up but at less than £20 for two lunches with drinks can't have everything

We stopped at this restaurant with three tired and hungry children having just come from The Bluebell Railway. They could not have looked after us better. The boys had the fish, chips and baked beans they wanted and the baby had her own food. They provided a high chair and spoon even though we brought the baby's own food with... More

The rooms are dated and in desperate need of renovation. A stained old bath mat lay over the bath, the sealant around the bah was holey and mould filled gaps. The old secondary glazing was shabby and drafty. The rooms are small, pokey and very dark. The staff are cold and u friendly. At breakfast, I asked for coffee and... More

We used this as a base for a nearby friends wedding breakfast was good and a large selection although the hotel really needs a refurb carpet looked as though it had been there since the 90s and decor was just a bit tired and dated otherwise a nice friendly atmosphere not worth the £100 a night I have stayed in... Was going to be down in West Sussex and needed a room for the night, so thought of the Roebuck. Have stayed there a number of times before and always been happy. This trip was no exception. Was greeted warmly by Val and given our keys. The day was the hottest day of the year, but fortunately the superior room... More

The Staff here were very good, though very understaffed it seemed the same staff doing all the jobs everyday, reception, bar, food service, breakfast, housekeeping, events, they must of been exhausted! We arrived for a family wedding and on check in we had to wait a while for someone to come To reception though when we were attended to the... More
