Visited this motel just on a walk in basis. We had always promised ourselves we would stay one day & as the weather so nice driving back from Rye we decided to see if they had a room. Initially I was told (after having to wait for the barman to finish watching an Olympic event with a group of men... More

Where to begin, we booked for Saturday night and after reading a few reviews on Trip Advisor we were going with mixed opinions. On arrival the place looked lovely with a lovely garden offering you magnificent views but that is where the good points stopped. We entered the pub behind a massive screen showing tv and the place was busy... More

We visited The Bear Inn as a group of 8 on the last night of our hols, having visited on a previous occasion. The staff were polite and helpful and our meals were presented nicely. Unfortunately we had to skip dessert as the desserts we were hoping for they didn't have. The garden is very well kept and has the... More

The room was average. Comfy bed but no hairdryer or iron and ironing board. The only window which we could open was in the bathroom. However the staff were great as was the food and the views were amazing. Would definitely stay there again.

We visited for Sunday lunch and opted for the carvery meal in the conservatory. The conservatory is spacious and bright but very plain. It was a bit like eating in a greenhouse! The meats looked good under the lights as the chef carved, but the beef was disappointing, it was well cooked but not tender. The vegetables were the usual... More

Luckily I had one of the rooms with a view - and what a beautiful view The room was clean but a bit worn, bed looked odd but it was comfortable, there was a chair that I chose not to use and the frame of a spare bed which looked as if it were part assembled - disappointing The work... More

I recently stayed here not too long ago. I had to sleep on a bed that was set out for me and the bars were coming through the matress that it was incredibly uncomfortable so I had to sleep on the floor because I could not sleep on the bed. I walked into the room for the first time and... More

Pretty garden and flowers. Interior dismal. Smelled odd. Gents' toilet very smelly - made eyes water! No lock on cubicle door. Bar seating stained and worn - we sat in a window seat. Waited 35 mins for egg and chips and a plate of charcuterie. Two people who arrived after us were served first.. Food dismal, we left most of... More

This is a very busy pub, having arrived at 5.30 pm in the middle of a rugby match on a very large screen it was a bit awkward getting in the door and past without blocking someone's view. Reception is anyone behind the bar. The rooms are clean and comfortable, nothing like the pictures l saw on their website, not... More

We are aware of the rooms and are undergoing and redecoration programme but unfortunately we had to update are electrics first to meet today's standards. We do have a wide mix of clients and Saturdays afternoons are sport day in the pub with a lot of locals using the pub. More

I am not sure where to start with this establishment. Firstly you are greeted with a sea of what looks to be underage youths leaning at the bar, then you have to fight your way through to the bar to order a drink to be greeted by an uninterested member of staff who would rather be the other side of... Hello, I am sorry you had a poor experience with us. I would like to point out that on the day you visited we had 2 local football teams, and 3 local shoots in the pub so we were very busy. We are a busy village pub/restaurant with strong connections with the locals, unfortunately on Saturdays from 4-7 the bar... More
