We stayed 5 nights in this delightful pub on the coast of Suffolk, our room, no5, was spacious and very comfortable with a giant bathroom and all the amenities we would wish for. We dined every night in the restaurant which is run by chef/owner Sophie. Her meals are a delight for the discerning palate and she was very accommodating... More

A very tight squeeze around a table for 4, the diners next to us did their best but we were lucky none of us had to leave the table during the meal. Friendly staff and buzzy atmosphere. Small portions given the price and perhaps 'pork scratchings' should not be listed on the 'light bites' part of the menu if the... More

The location is perfect if you are a bird-watcher and walker. On our first afternoon we walked along the estuary and over the bridge to Southwold and were thrilled to see short-eared owls at dusk. Even more blessed on the second day - hundreds of Barnacle Geese opting to stay over in a glorious sunset. They left the next day!... More

First appearances of this pub are not great - it desperately needs a coat of paint however the location is really lovely. The bar, restaurant area is welcoming and the food very good. Portion size is great and the staff were all very attentive and friendly. The accommodation lets this pub down. It's very dated, we couldn't get our tv... More

Visiting Walberswick for a short overnight break, we had been recommended to stay at the Bell for atmosphere and eat at the Anchor. We had booked the restaurant and as we entered the Anchor a very stern young man said, have you booked? No smiles no welcome! We were shown to our table and then asked to be moved to... More

Lovely summers day, we cycled there from Southwold, there was a large outside seated area. Food was fresh and tasty. We need more pubs like this! The only downside was its a remote location with little mobile signal and there wasnt any available Wi-fi which would have helped trying to plan our trip.

The Anchor offers very comfortable accommodation in the mina building and in chalets around an attractive garden a step away from the main building. Our chalet was warm and very spacious with large double bed with good quality bedlinen, a seating area, plenty of cupboard space, well equipped and with an excellent modern bathroom. The bar and restaurant are full... More

Having used this pub for four years I thought I had better add a review. Top quality cooking and an excellent selection of draught and bottled beers to accompany the amazing dishes. Never disappointed by the service and food. My favourite restaurant in the area.

We spent two nights at the Anchor and thoroughly enjoyed it. We stayed in room 5 which is quite spectacular with great views from 3 sides! The food in the restaurant was very good with a varied menu and the breakfasts were great. And Adnams beer on tap to boot. Lovely
