We went en masse with 2 families and stayed in the garden rooms. Very spacious rooms with a little terrace, table and chairs overlooking the big garden which was ideal for a rounders game before dinner. Short walk to the beach. Really relaxed atmosphere at the pub with very friendly, helpful staff. I felt like we were guests in someone's... More

A quite wonderful place. 5 minute walk from the beach. Ample indoor and outdoor seating. Very friendly service, dogs allowed (there were more dogs than humans!). First class food. My ploughmans rates as one of the best ever. As for the Bakewell Tart.......wow!

Booked a table for 4 with no problem. The service was good despite the staff being rushed of their feet but very friendly. Food was very good and well presented and enjoyed in a relaxing atmosphere. This establishment has a captive audience being one of two pubs in this popular seaside village but despite this the standard of food and... More

They were very accommodating when 15 of us turned up to eat after a day on the beach. Good menu with great choices for young people. One or two of the portions lacked a few extras...e.g. Nice pork but nothing with it.

Pizza night in the garden was promising but disastrous. Disorganised and seemed very badly planned. 4 pizzas on the menu £9 for an average margarita , all others £10. When we asked what was on the Vegetarian , the chef proprietor said "mushrooms, artichokes , whatever ". Not sure if my regional accent provoked such a haughty response or the... More

We stayed five nights in one of the Garden Cabins. The cabin was spacious, comfortable, bright, private, very quiet and looked out onto the garden. The room was cleaned and refreshed well every day. We had breakfast and evening meal each day and the meals were stunning. Alongside the food there was a four page guide to all the beers... More

We spent a night here. We had a garden room which we had not been in before. Quite spacious. Good bath and shower. Large bed and doors onto the garden. Excellent breakfast. Not cheap but still worth a visit and ideal if you want to be near the beach and the green.

We only stayed over for two nights arriving on the Friday after a drive up from Kent. Ben showed exemplary customer service skills from the moment we arrived with a warm greeting he carried our case whilst escorting us to room 4. No fancy magnetic swipe cards here just a good old fashioned lock and key. The menu and food... More

We drove up to this lovely little pub from Essex after hearing from a friend how good the food was. I can tell you we were not disappointed! We sat in the beautiful garden and had a very delicious lunch of oysters followed by the best steak we have eaten in a long time. The place was spotless, and also... More

We had four nights in a Garden Room last week and had a great break. It was very relaxing with cooked breakfasts each day and our room cleaned too. We ate in the pub every night but you do need to book as it can get quite busy. We found the young staff a delight. They are still learning but... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A village pub with a difference. Our addiction to fresh, top quality, locally sourced where possible produce, combined with a thirst for excellence have evolved into what has been described as a "must go to place on the Suffolk coast." Our approach to food is robust; we want to put on each plate satisfying combinations of flavours and textures. We have a good range of characterful draught beers, and numerous world class bottled beers, organic soft drinks and over 150 drop dead lovely wines from some of the earth’s most inspired winemakers. We offer the same menu throughout, with more formal Restaurant dining on a bookings basis and more relaxed walk-ins, in the Bar. We also have seating for 150 outside on three terraces, with table service available for those warmer days. Our renovated flint barn is a highly versatile space, equipped with a drop-down screen and a projector, ideal for business meetings, strategy reviews, team building exercises, corporate training, presentations, film showings or private parties to mention just a few of its uses. It has been put to good use in the cause of village based charity fund raising projects as well as providing the theatre for Food Safari events, cask beer festivals and the Aldebrough Doc. Fest. fringe event weekend November 2011. Free time relaxation can include everything from Golf at several well established Courses, to Horse Riding at Bramfield Equestrian Centre, Sky Diving for all levels at Beccels, Aromatherapy in walking distance or sea fishing of Walberswick Coast with Mark Felton. Beer Academy and WSCT (Wine and Spirits) educational courses are available by arrangement. Our Hotel Accommodation: We have just undergone a thorough renovation of our Now Cedar Clad Chalets, enhancing the environment in which to enjoy the Sea View. We offer 10 rooms in total, 6 spacious en suite room garden chalets, as well as several room options in the main building. All the rooms have a large flat screen TV, with Freeview and IPod Alarm Clock docking Stations. Ample free parking is provided with direct access to the beach, Dunwich Forest or the Marshes. RSPB Minsmere, Southwold and Aldeburgh are all close by. ... more   less
