The hotel stunk of paint, so much so that we didn't even like to sit in the bar for a drink as it was so over powering - however, at least this shows they are trying to improve the tired look of the hotel. We only needed to stay for one night and were given the smallest double. I had... More

Small friendly hotel, bar, restaurant, easy walk into main Southwold and about 10 min walk to the sea. Free parking. Really lovely welcome from the friendly staff in this Victorian building in need of some TLC. It needs the decor updating and freshening up. It's clean enough. V comfortable king sized sleigh bed. Tiny tiny bathroom but good water pressure... More

Stayed here on our first visit to Southwold. I agree that the hotel might look a bit tired but it is very comfortable, warm and in a good location. The staff were friendly, our dog was made welcome and there was a good choice for breakfast. Our double bedroom was clean and tidy and there was plenty of hot water... More

We checked into this hotel as part of our visit to the town for the Adnams Brewery tour. It also sorted our car parking issue as it is only about 10 minutes walk away. We had a very warm check-in, but when we entered the room it was very cold. Turning on/up the heating didn't help but other than that... More

Just got back from 2 night stay at the Blyth hotel. Julia, the owner is friendly and welcoming as are the staff. Stayed in room 8 on top floor - arrived to find 2 dog bowls with biscuit treats laid out for the dogs, very sweet. The room was spacious with great firm comfy mattresses. Decor is a little out... I have stayed here a couple of times and it is in a great location to walk into town. The best pubs are nearby, The Nelson, Sole Bay...Adnams shop and brewery...a perfect place to stop to explore all that Southwold has to offer. A small double room is SMALL but if you get a good deal, it's well worth it... More

This was my second stay at the hotel, but ownership had changed since my last stay. Coincidently I had the same room, which had been updated with a new bed (very comfy) and new television. New owners were friendly and welcoming, food excellent as always. Short walk in to the main part of town, but close enough not to be... More

The hotel seemed a little tired. However, our room was comfortable and the one our friends stayed in was comfortable too. Both had modern bathrooms. The manager welcomed us and was very helpful with his knowledge of local places. we had an excellent breakfast, a good varied menu and well cooked. There was fresh fruit and puréed fruit. The staff... More

The hotel is very easy to find as it is on the only main road into town on the left corner beside a mini roundabout at the junction with Pier Avenue. It is a nineteen twenties/thirties building with its own car park. We stayed for four nights, it is a popular place being quite full. They do a Buffet breakfast... More
