We have been having breaks at the Orwell since the seventies and seen a lot of changes over the years. After a three year break we decided to re visit. The rooms have been refurbished and the one that we had was excellent. The staff were very helpful and the meals we had in the resturant and buttery bar were... More

Lunch on Monday was very quiet as we were the only ones in a small room but saying that it was very enjoyable. Service was obviously very good but equally so was the food. The menu had a very good choice and we enjoyed everything we ate especially the chocolate brownie with pistachio ice cream. Value for money was excellent... More

Stayed here on business, the building is very seventies decor, friendly staff ,clean rooms ,and a very good breakfast but a bit over priced for what you expect for a hotel , at these room prices . I think it's s hotel for the more mature person . It's close to to the town centre and railway station and bus links... More

I have to say, our group travel to this hotel every year at the beginning of July to attend the National Hotrod World Championships in Ipswich. In fact before we leave we book the same rooms for the following year. When we arrived this year, they told us that they didn't have a record of the booking. Every hotel in... More

About 30 years ago, each year I used to come on holiday to Old Felixtowe with the family. Because of wonderful past experiences, like the magnificent Sea Front Gardens ,the Felixstowe Ferry, dating back to about 1043. Image that the Ferry guarded the entrance to the River Deben which has been used for trading for centuries and is the route that... More

Fantastic hotel, quiet, great room, linen was superb, super clean white towels (not cheap crusty offerings one often receives in hotels these days) The Orwell has an 'old world' 'bygone era' feel to it, a classic, indeed I almost expected to see a smoking room and humidor full of cigars. It has real character and is very easy on the... More

This review is on the restaurant and not accommodation. We often come here for the 3 course set menu as we find it great value and the food is delicious. I would have given this 5 star.... until recently management refuse to allow people that opt for the set menu to eat in the main restaurant. This has annoyed me,... More
