Short walk to the (shingle) beach and reed beds (if you're there for birding). Nice bar with log fire. Excellent beer, and very good food, both at dinner and breakfast. Enjoyed our visit but a few issues. 1. no hot water all weekend, which wasn't good, particularly after a long day in the cold and rain. 2. we had an... More

Stopped in after a beach walk. Friendly staff, raging fire, good pints and dogs welcome. Didn't stay but rooms looked nice. Liked the proximity to the beach. Picturesque village also. Menu looked inviting. Bet it gets busy in summer. Close to icecream and coffee place

Stable room (Southgate) OK for one person for a night but would be very cosy for 2. Quite close to back of kitchen so I would expect could be a bit noisy in summer time. Good facilities in room with over bath shower and Internet connection, though TV a bit small and quite elevated. Good value for January at 50%... More

The Suffolk coastline is a great place to wander with friends, dogs and loved ones! The Ship at Dunwich is just a great place to start. Wonderful old Inn with good rooms, great showers, fantastic bar that is dog friendly, serves a great selection of ales and wines to wash down a super meal in front of the log fire!!... More

we haven't stayed but we try to include lunch here on our walks. The food is always great and we tend to go for a selection of starters - the favourites being the black pudding scotch eggs ( insist on it being runny ) and the potted shrimps. Lovely garden at the back but this is definitely a pub that... More

We booked early for New Years Eve plus 2 other nights alas the larger rooms had gone, we had a small dog with us and we prefer a bit more space. The room we were allocated had a window that did not close and as it was right by the bed we asked to be moved. The next room was... More

We stayed for a long weekend at the Ship as a change from our normal January break, the sister pub, the Crown at Westleton. We stayed in one of the best marsh view rooms, Seafields, which had a family room upstairs (a loft room with 2 single beds above the main double bedroom). The views were beautiful, even in the... We have been staying at the ship for many years, particularly NewYear. Every other occasion has been excellent, except this year which was spoilt by a selfish dog owner who thought it was her right to block the bar area with her husky dogs, On New Year's Eve It ended up in my opinion being a health and safety issue,... We stayed for one night at the Ship before Christmas as we were attending a wedding locally. We arrived earlier than expected but we were made very welcome and had coffee in the bar. Our rooms were ready and a really helpful member of staff showed us around, making sure we had everything we needed. The rooms were lovely -... More
