My wife & I have just returned from a fantastic three day weekend stay at the Beechwood booked directly with dinner included. On arrival there were lots of free parking spaces available and although arriving early this was not a problem for Emma the owner together with Rachael & Lisa they made us so welcome and said our room was ready. Then Lisa gave us a tour of the hotel explaining the connection with Agatha Christie. A young girl called Jess promptly carried all our bags up to the room. Our superior room was cleaned daily and well stocked with bottled water, fresh milk, tea, coffee, biscuits & hot chocolate. Dinner was a wonderful experience. You arrived in the bar 30 minutes before your preferred meal time and given the menu with chefs specials. While enjoying your pre dinner drink yummy canopies arrived, (what a nice touch) All meals during our stay were varied and delicious, so compliments to the chefs are well deserved. The whole hotel was immaculate as was our spacious room with a bathtub & walk in shower. Wi-Fi throughout the hotel was exceptionally good. We had pre dinner drinks in the hotel bar each evening served by the lovely and knowledgeable Rihanna the manager. The restaurant was comfortable and spacious with undivided attention from Rachael, her daughter Jennifer, Connor, Tasha & Katie. Well done the Beechwood, everything was perfect including all your wonderful staff. Stay here and you will not be disappointed.

We stayed at the Beechwood in one of the fairly-new (2019) 'garden spa' rooms and so this review will reflect that experience. The two garden spa rooms are located at the far end of the hotel's long garden, so worth bearing in mind if you travel with a lot of luggage. There is a pathway but it is, sadly, not suitable for wheeled cases, meaning that each piece of luggage needs to be carried. The rooms have a tin roof, so that the regular pigeon visits are clearly audible in the room, and they have wooden sprung floors so that everything rattles when you walk around. An unmbrella is provided (in the event of inclement weather) but ours was broken, and not replaced even though we reported the fault. The bedroom is quite large with two easy chairs, kingsize bed and elegant cupboards with (mostly) glass-fronted drawers. The bed we found to be comfortable, and we slept well. However, the two small-ish and wobbly wardrobes look and feel rather cheap, completely out of keeping with the remainder of the decor. One of the drawer fronts looked like it had been replaced by a rather inferior laminated board, somewhat spoiling the effect of the other drawer fronts on that chest. The hospitality tray was generally well-stocked but the Redbush tea we requested, and received, was not replenished during our stay. The bathroom is also roomy and with twin sinks. We made use of the walk-in shower each day but only used the tin bath sparingly, as it is rather awkward to get in and out of. Outside a personal sauna is provided for each room, along with what looked like a very high-end hot tub. We made use of both, and found them convenient and easy to control. 'Privacy screens' are provided for use as required, but they do not completely screen the tub from inquisitive guests who happen to wander down to that end of the hotel's grounds. Perhaps some discreet 'residents only' signs along the path would be helpful there? The food here is second-to-none, and served by a friendly team who give superb and faultless service. All of the meals we had here were beautifully-cooked and very tasty. This includes the breakfasts, where a good selection is offered to suit all tastes and appetites. To sum up, we enjoyed our stay here but the garden spa room could do with some small tweaks to make the product 5-star.

This is a very friendly efficiently run hotel. On arrival our bags were taken to our rooms and we were given a tour of the hotel. Followed by a complimentary cream tea in the garden. The rooms are beautiful spacious with excellent facilities, Wi-Fi, fridge with fresh milk And water, tea making facilities a hairdryer. The beautiful Victorian could be filled with plenty of hot water, much enjoyed by my wife. The overhead shower is effective. The breakfast is absolutely perfect with fruit, cereals and a cooked breakfast. Dinner was fantastic, you start in the Bar, and are given canapés, nuts and olives and you order your drinks and the meal which has specials every day for starters and main course. The hotel is situated in North Walsham and is well located for local National Trust properties and gardens, and a wonderful coastline. It is also near Norwich and Cromer. We loved our stay and hope to return next year.

Terrific value for dinner, bed and breakfast. Also included was a cream tea, which we enjoyed in the delightful garden. Staff professional yet friendly. The owner showed us to our rooms and gave detailed instructions about the hot tub and sauna in the spa cabin. Dinner is a leisurely affair, including canapés and veloute before the main event. Very well presented, delicious food. My daughter in law, who is a professional chef and has high standards, was impressed. And that takes some doing! Beautiful restaraunt with gentle background music. Several tables were celebrating birthdays and anniversaries and were treated to a sparkler than than traditional candles. Interesting memorabilia concerning Agatha Christie, who used to stay with friends, who lived in the house before it became a hotel. They do murder mystery and Fawlty Towers nights when professional actors role play which should good fun. Nice touches like small fridges in the rooms with fresh milk and mineral water. Ideal for a calm and relaxed stay. Highy recommended. We are looking forward to returning.

I booked this hotel through secret escapes after reading the amazing reviews. We were not disappointed. From our first contact with lovely Rihanna over the phone ,the care and attention from all staff was superb. Rachael, Jennifer, Tash just to name a few;they were friendly, professional and nothing is too much trouble. We stayed in a four poster bed room, it was spotless. The food was excellent, lovely dinning room with linen tablecloths and napkins. Quiet and relaxed environment. Great location to explore locally. We will definitely return. But book directly with the hotel. Thank you.

We came here for afternoon tea, a gift from our son and his wife. From the moment we parked our car the staff were attentive. We had arrived an hour earlier than our table was booked, but immediately the guy who checked us in went and spoke to the chef to see if we could be served earlier. We ordered drinks whilst waiting and at this point we weren't even asked to pay for them (we paid prior to leaving). The guy came back and said it would be ready in 20 mins. We were shown to our table in a beautiful dining room, everywhere was art deco. A young lady asked if we would like tea or coffee and after this was served our sandwiches and cakes arrived. A full explanation was given of what was on the trays and we were left to enjoy it. The hotel was fully booked and we saw quite a few guests arriving, each were personally shown to their rooms and their luggage carried up for them. So lovely to see a team of young staff that were all friendly and helpful, old fashion values definitely served at this hotel.

We stayed here for a short Norfolk holiday having learned of it through a relative. What a true gem of a place this is! Ample parking, wonderfully welcoming staff who took our bags to the room. The bedroom was blissfully comfortable with a lovely bed, in-room fridge (water and milk restocked daily!), flatscreen TV and fast WiFi. A spacious bathroom with separate bath and shower well stocked with complimentary body wash, shampoo etc. Breakfast is 'to order' and totally excellent, served by such friendly staff too! We didn't have dinner here as we were touring the local area, but the menu is superb and has an excellent reputation. One minor point - check out is at 10:30 which isn't mentioned in the booking confirmation, so came as something of a surprise.

We randomly chose the Beechwood for it's proximity to the coast & the broads. Though North Walsham itself is a little underwhelming, it's well positioned for some tourist hotspots - including the glorious beach of Mundesley & Wroxham, with many river cruises & dayboats to access the broads. Another must see in the area, BTW is the Old Vicarage Garden, at East Ruston - you'll not be disappointed, if gardens are your thing. However, we were most pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome & incredible hospitality from Duty Managers Sam & Rhianne & their youthful, enthusiastic team at the Beechwood. Their politeness & attention to detail are the epitome of customer service & if they continue in this direction the future of the Beechwood is in safe hands. The garden room was comfortable, clean & well equipped - though the double bed was a little narrow. To put the icing on the cake, the dining experience was also first class. Our two dinners were excellent. The fish dishes (Halibut, Hake & Sole) were well cooked & presented & absolutely delicious (compliments to the kitchen team) & courteously served by the front of house team. It's clear that the owners of the Beechwood are moving this hotel in the right direction & it is well deserving of the excellent reviews. I highly recommend this hotel for visiting this part of Norfolk.
