Such a shame it’s closed up and the chain has gone into administration as we used it everytime we came sunny honny and liked it a lot. I hope weatherspoons don’t get there hands on it as it will never be the same 😒😒😒😒😒😒
We were utterly devastated this morning to learn that the parent company to Coast & Country Hotels has gone into administration. The Golden Lion is a wonderful traditional hotel and the staff must be absolutely floored by this terrible news. We can only hope that the lockdown situation does not last much longer and this deservedly popular hotel is able to open again under new ownership, hopefully with the same staff. It would be too depressing to think that we could not return to Hunstanton and enjoy the warm and friendly atmosphere of the Lion. Thank you all for the wonderful holidays we have had with you and Good Luck and our best wishes for the future
Excellent handling of the Corona19 issue. Due to current lockdown the hotel was shut. We have been given a full refund of all money which is great. Thanks. Will book to stay again when able. Trust Sunny Hunny lives on.
Popped in for drinks and to use their wifi - good to see dog friendly and even gave some dog biscuits and offered bowl of water for pets - shame the coffee machine is still a bit iffy and not producing proper hot drinks
This was a special weekend for my partner's birthday hence choosing a premier room. Friendly check-in and given basic information. We liked: - the comfy bed; lightweight yet warm duvet; pillow choices - the seaview - the number of lamps and lights - the spacious room with functional furniture - being able to adjust the radiators in the room as it got quite hot - spacious bathroom with separate shower; 2 sinks! - good curtains kept the draughts at bay - it was very windy and rainy during our stay - free parking outside the front entrance; limited spaces; hotel does have a car-park that can be booked in high season for a fee - generally quiet during our stay - good tv channel choice - when stocked, a good supply of tea/coffee We were disappointed by: - the squeaking bathroom door - rectified once asked - dust-filled voile curtain in the bathroom - replaced once asked - the ripped duvet cover - replaced once asked - having to get the drinks tray replenished by going back downstairs as it was overlooked (possibly because so many things that should have been picked up before we checked in weren't and needed doing that this got missed) on the first morning - no towel hoop/rail for handtowels near the sinks - had to drape over bath - didn't use bath but had some hairs and dust in it otherwise looked clean - very small mugs - a minor niggle but handles weren't comfortable; used our own from picnic bag - hot water took a long time to come through - over 2 mins in the morning so wasted a lot Given it was a Premier room, we were disappointed by: - the bland decor - mushroom coloured paint - not up to the standard of a premier room. Only 1 picture - hidden behind the standard lamp. 3 different colours for the walls inc 1 wall wall-papered. - the lack of a coffee machine - no fruit or herbal teas in the room - nothing on the bedframe which implied 4 poster style in photos - no fabric/decor to brighten/enhance the bed/room The door from stairway to floor 1 needs the door closer attending to as every time someone used it, it banged shut so could be very disturbing when the hotel is full. Be advised some rooms take pets as we saw a couple with a very excitable alsation. Overall it was the lack of attention to detail that was disappointing. Housekeeping possibly need new hoovers given the bits that were left on the carpet. Reported a water leak from 1 of the sinks at check-out. Check-out was rather poor from a disinterested male. No interaction. Used the bar for a drink. Had good local ales - Moongazer - but pricey as to be expected in a hotel. Ate in local restaurants.…
