Currently closed but wetherspoon hold the licence so watch this space. It could open as a wetherspoons (a bit small) or a Lloyds no 1 or even an all bar one. Who knows. At least this great building will survive as a pub

The Hotel looked inviting and in a very good location, the rooms were disgusting. The things that let the place down were, punch holes in the walls, filthy bedding, lights that didn't work, Cigarette burnt and stained carpets. Paid cash on arrival and left without asking for my money back as so totally disgusted. The worst ever had the misfortune... More

I have been to many Hotels and many Pubs in my time, but frankly this is the worst of I have ever had the misfortune to spend even a few minutes in. The 'So-Called' Landlord, or resident 'Drunk' is hideous. He is constantly rude to customers, swearing and upsetting people. The place actually smells of urine, see other reviews or... More

We went to the bar part of the pub for a leaving do. Despite us warning them there could be a lot of people coming, there were no extra staff on, just the arrogant land lord! He shouted across the bar about glasses on the pool table when a quiet word would of been much more effective. He then swore... More

we were visiting family and looking for last minute rooms whilst we were there....what a mistake! i usually book online ahead and check the reviews. On arrival, the receptionist didn't seem to have a clue about anything at all, insisted on payment in full up front of £45 for the night, i found out later from the back of the... More

I have never written a review for anything before, but feel compelled after staying in this awful pace. We had payed up front (unfortunately) but even so, we called around to desperately try and find an alternative once we had seen the horrible dirty room. There was a tiny mouldy plastic bathroom, no wardrobe doors and it was generally filthy.... More

We went for lunch on our wedding anniversary. There's a sensibly small menu of cooked meals, snacks and breakfast served until 2.30. I had fish & chips and my husband had a big breakfast. The menu advises a 20 minute wait as the food is freshly cooked. I think we waited less than that but we were entertained by the... More

Yuk! I had booked in here for two nights. The receptionist on arrival was not particulary welcoming and wanted all the money paid up front, and I soon saw why! Unfortunately it was too late in the evening to find alternative accommodation before I saw what I was expected to sleep in! It was filthy, - pink mould up the... More

We stayed at The Crown Hotel after a family reunion and to be quite frank it was shocking!! We left at 3am in the morning. I have never written a review but our stay here has made me feel as though I couldn't allow anyone to experience the stay we did. Here is a copy of my complaint email. 'We... More

The friendly owner welcomed us on arrival - then announced there was no breakfast on offer and sent us off to find our room. I've never heard of a hotel that didn't offer food to guests in the morning, so I'd not thought to check in advance. At 9.00am. the Reception door was locked, so we left the room keys... More
