We are staying four nights in Longyearbyen, Svalbard and booked three different activities with Villmarkssenter. As a small company that depends on its dogs for most its business they are clearly devoted to their working animals. A big bonus for us was the colony of common eider ducks that has developed around the kennels. We will review the activities separately but it is a big thank you to this provider for a job well done.

What wonderful people - fascinating, knowledgeable, committed. Well worth the visit just to talk to them. Excellent food & company, a deep understanding of the history, culture & natural environment. Committed to working with the environment, not against it.

My husband and I were lucky enough to find a place to stay at Tommy's Lodge for our visit to Svalbard, the main purpose of which was to view the total solar eclipse. We arrived at Longyearbyen airport in the evening and took the bus into town from where we walked about 1km to the dog kennels where Tommy's Lodge is situated. We were cold from the walk and it was such a relief to arrive and be greeted by our very friendly hosts. Berit had just catered for a party of 40 and she offered us hot soup, drinks and cake which was left over from the meal. She was very kind, and chatted to us while we ate then showed us to our accommodation which consisted of a cabin containing cooking facilities, a fridge, chairs and tables, and a cosy loft bed reached via a ladder. We were warm and very comfortable there for our 2 night stay. The hut was situated next to the kennels but we hardly heard a peep out of the dogs. The location was perfect for watching the eclipse as we only had a short walk from there to the ideal viewing spot. I only wish we had had more time in Longyearbyen. Next time (I'm already planning!) we'll take a dog sledding tour as well. Many thanks.

Stayed at the sea lodge operated by Villmarkssenter. Great accommodation, it has excellent facilities for your stay in svalbard. Everything you could need is here, well equiped kitchen, washing machine and comfortable lounge room. The bathroom is nice with a heated floor, which is something I am not used to, but I really like. We stayed during the polar night so not much to see, but it is overlooking the bay and we could make out the mountains, the view would be amazing if there was some daylight. Like most things in Longyearbyen, it is close to everything. Only thing that people may find missing is a tv, however it does have free wifi and it is exceptionally fast, so download a movie or two if you get bored. Will handle groups of up to 6 people, in three rooms with bunk beds. Highly recommended for people who want to stay somewhere modern and nice, but still save a bit of money by making a few meals yourself.

Me and my friends planned to go Svalbard and all hotels were full booked. With some research on the web we found this apartment "Sea Lodge" which is rented for tourists whom prefer to live privat in Longyearbyen. It is not far from Longyearbyen town centre (supermarket, bank ...) . The apartment is modern, kitchen, washing machine, dish washer...well pretty much everything you need. It lies by Longyearbyen fjord, so the view is stunning! Quiet neighbourhood, we could only hear the silence, what makes very peacefull to live there. A part from that we were picked up by the airport, Svalbard Villmarkssenter owns it and were very friendly, they help us out to find trips and things to do. Price was good comparing with other privat living in Svalbard.
