Clean room, comfortable bed and several bathrooms close to the room so no waiting for a bathroom break. A laundry with washer/dryer and iron available to use for free. Welcoming bar and lounge area to use with nice views of mountains.

If you look for a romantic hideaway, this is not your place. Here come nature lovers, who want to be in the hotel to sleep and recreate from the long tours. Rooms are small, simple, and very clean. I was in the house #2 with showers and toilet in the corridor, shared with a couple of other rooms. Don't forget... More

Very nice atmosphere with local dishes on offer. Had an excellent meal in "interesting" surroundings. Made a change from usual bars. Nice to sit and look out at the snow. Remember to take your shoes/boots off on entry!

I wasn't sure what to think about the Coal Miners' Cabin - not being the kind of traveller used to sharing bathrooms - other than with my family of course! However, I was pleasantly surprised. We found this place after deciding we did not want to spend alot of money to stay in a hotel that would essentially be for... More

the other reviewers have pretty much covered it. the rooms are small and basic (twin beds, shared bathrooms) and spread out amongst several buildings. since it's a distance from "downtown", it's convenient to have a restaurant on the premises for dinner as well as continental breakfast. friendly staff.

We stayed here for one night and were quite satisfied. Mind you, this is Spitsbergen, not a Caribbean tourist resort. This is a place for adventurous people, not for those needing 5-star luxury. The cabins are situated in Nybyen, a somewhat remote area of the capital, and they have a particular story of their own since they used to be... More

Rooms are OK, nothing fancy, but convenient and clean. Shared bathrooms, maintained in good condition, and in good number (4 for 12 rooms on my floor). Washing machine available. Breakfast included, free wifi as well. Excellent value for money. Service available round the clock from the reception, super friendly. They can also arrange all sorts of excursions. Located in Nybyen,... More

Staff at reception were helpful and friendly. The rooms are very basic. Mine had 2 single beds, a desk and a cupboard. Power points were behind the beds and a bit hard to access. It would be handy if they installed hooks on the walls to hang towels and jackets etc. Bathrooms are shared and also a shared lounge and... More

The coal miners cabins is a series of renovatedbunkhouses situated at the extreme end of town going up the valley. The rooms are basic and served us well. The decor is minimal. The hotel does have a restaurant which serves standard where like burgers. But good. It's approximately a mile and a half from the cabins to the center of... More
