Small, cosy, and quite hotel with friendly staff. Room was small, 2 twin beds, dated and basic. Bed was confy, bedding really good. Shower really small/narrow, better curtains should be in place and shower is not fit for the head holder. Room and hotel itself were clean. Maid's changed just towels, no rubbish taken away some reason. Aircon is 7 eur extra per stay, fridge is free to use. Pool area was nice and with good loungers, but there is no extra parasoles, only two areas with permanent shades. Also, they have no pool area for the kids. Bar drinks in AL basis were ok, but snacks with a charge. They offer paid drinks at pool bar and downstairs along with snacks, prices were ok. Restaurant serves basic breakfast in buffet style, lunch and dinner served to the table and it is what they are making for the day with no choice. They have extra salad bar as well. I'm fussy, but all they served was mainly ok,but pretty large portions. Till 11 am to 7 pm you can get your drinks from the pool bar, in the evenings from reciption until 10pm. Beach, shops, bars, restaurants are in very short distance. They have no luggage room in case you are not leaving after check out, they can be sotored in communal area, but bags with valuables can be handed over to reciption. Overall nice and friendly hotel and I would go again even if it's basic. Next time I would go to room only or B&B basis.

Myself and my partner stayed here early September and were definitely pleasantly surprised!

Room- I'd emailed in advance to ask for a quiet double room, sadly it wasn't a double (apparently pushing two beds together and shoving a folded blanket down the middle makes it a double- not exactly comfortable believe me!) but the room was quiet most evenings, aside from one noisy night of drunken German guests slamming doors constantly. Room was basic but very clean, bedding changed once in the week and towels changed every other day or more if we required. Only problems we found were that the bathroom floor got incredibly wet from the shower (a very minor issue!), the door didn't close properly to the bathroom and one of the plug sockets was unusable as it was hanging out of the wall and sparked when you plugged anything in! Hired a safe for the week for 10 euros (definitely worth it) but decided not to waste a fortune on air con. Don't leave balcony doors open though, the mosquitoes are evil in Crete!!!

Food- rather basic- salad bar open with pretty much the same stuff at every meal. Basic continental breakfast with boiled eggs on one day. Suited me fine but some whiney British buggers were complaining that they expected the full cooked malarkey. Lunch & dinner were salad bar starters with fresh breads and a cooked extra but the main part of the meal is brought to your table. Only problem is that you've no choice and no idea in advance what to expect to eat- if you're a vegetarian like myself please inform then in advance when you arrive. Plenty of small local restaurants within walking distance though as you're situated right near the main strip (5 mins walk away).

Staff- absolutely lovely from Reception to Restaurant and Housekeepers. Couldn't fault them at all. Didn't even laugh too much at my rubbish attempt at Greek!

Pool on the rooftop is wonderful, sunshine all day and a lovely little bar to grab drinks & ice cream from.

Only problems we had with the hotel was the worry with the dodgy plug socket and the fire alarm button in the hall that had the push glass smashed and had clearly just been turned off instead of repaired. Hotel is just at the end of one of the main shopping strips, parallel with the beach road and main strip, lovely evening's walk down to one end and back.

Definitely recommend this hotel for couples, maybe not families to be honest as there's nothing for kids to do on site. We arrived very late on the evening and the hotel staff let us keep our all inclusive bands until teatime on the day we'd checked out so we didn't have to worry about getting food or drinks before we left if we'd spent all our cash! Best of all it wasn't overrun with British idiots, we had a lovely quiet and relaxing week, passed the time of day with various German, Dutch, British and Russian guests and the staff and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

I've been to Crete a few times and this place was definitely worth it for the amount we paid, just remember to email the hotel in advance if you have any needs or requests.

Thank you to all of the staff for a wonderful stay! (room 104 2/9-10/9)

I spend one week with my wife and our two kids at Helios hotel. I must say that I was very impressed with the service and the food. My kids enjoyed the pool on the roof and my wife due to the location had access to all the stores and restaurants in Hersonissos which were at a walking distance. The Beach was only 5 minutes walk. The people were vey frendly and the rooms clean with all the required services. Great choice at a great price.

Stayed in this hotel with my mom for 10 nights (leaving in a couple of days). The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the location is perfect - the beach is very close, the bus stops are near as well (if you want to visit other cities by intercity transport. I would highly recomment to take breakfast/dinner too- there was a different dish (traditional Greek, meat/fish) each evening (dessert included), portions were big and finger-licking good! We really enjoyed our stay, thank you very much. :)

I am a 27 year old woman. I traveled on my own to Greece from England.
I really enjoyed my stay here at Hotel Ilios.
All the staff at Hotel Ilios was lovely. I fealt welcomed and save. Nancy in particular is a superb employee Nancy went over and beyond her job role by making me laugh throughout my stay and helping me with my socialising skills to get to know all the other amazing guests who stayed at Hotel Ilios.

In all everything was spelended the view from the roof top of Hotel Ilios. The food, music and laughters of all the guests sitting and reminiscing. Nancy was so incredible that guests felt they to talk about anything with her. Some of the guests had great talents and I fealt lucky to be part of the vibrant atmosphere.

I fealt like Nancy really did bring the guests together and made my holiday one that I would never forgot. I would also welcome her into my own home anything she wants to visit the Uk.

Missing you all.

Simple (all basics available) and clean hotel with amazing staff going extra mile on their initiative (e.g. checking and preparing all necessary updates and info on covid related requirements for our departure in advance).
+ easy to find a space and park the car directly at the hotel. Swimming pool and sunbathing option on the rooftop is nice alternative when tired from crowded beaches. Short distance from the main touristic venues/streets allows both to enjoy the party scene (limited due to covid) as well as return and sleep in a calm and quiet neighborhood.
Breakfast offer simple but sufficient if there is no time to go to another place.
Perfect for travelers with the car.

I was delighted with my room, basic but with a private balcony, fridge, TV and bathroom. The hotel was clean, the staff treated you like part of the family, and the food each day was excellent. Hersonissos is a lovely seaside town, with plenty to see and do, and Heraklion is just a short bus trip up the coast. Weather was excellent, and the roof-top bar with pool was where most of the residents ended up afternoon. Special shout out to Laura and Dimitra who work really hard to make everyone's stay as fun as possible. Already planning my next visit.

Local, warmhearted, traditional downtown hotel. Good for all of us, who crave for atmosphere.
Tired of tourist traps? I can highly recommend Ilios Hotel.
The food was local and tasted too good. The staff was professional and really nice people. Flawless check-in/out, welcoming, greek:-)
Special thanks to Nansy Plaiti, bartender at the rooftop poolbar. You are the best.

Got a feeling of visiting Crete and the real people of the island. What a holiday!!

Me and my partner spent a week here in June 2016,this has to be the worst excuse for a hotel I have ever seen,it is not fit to be called a hotel,my advice to anyone is to look elsewhere.

The rooms are shocking we had two beds which are at least 30 years old pushed together to act as a double,no slats were screwed in all loose with a thin wooden plank placed over with a mattress that we believe to be infested with something as every time we lay on it we were itching, extremely dated, the shower room is minute barely big enough to get in let alone wash in it very clammy air con provided for a cost but sounds as if a tractor on your balcony with the noise it makes.

The wardrobes bed side cabinet and dressing table again were all extremely dated and had paintwork off them and scratched all over,my partner had to clean the insides before we could use them, there was no lampshade on main ceiling light and the wall lamps were lobsided and again looked years old,the tv is like something from the 70s,the curtains match in there age and were filthy

The food was inedible tried on 3 occasions absolutely shocking I'm not a fussy eater but this was below anything I have ever seen or tasted, the breakfast consisted of the cheapest cornflakes ever known a salad bar along with cheap processed cheese, and some luncheon meat/spam and some form of broken croissants with a bowl of chocolate spread at the side, the toast and tea and coffee were the only thing I'd class as edible,no orange juice just orange squash, given this is advertised as continental breakfast it extremely poor.

The evening meals got worse the same salad bar just with fetta cheese and a pasta dish added as a starter, this was followed by a main meal of there choice which again looked awful and to say it tasted awful is an under statement we could not even tell what the meat was on each night we tried to eat there one night it was rice which looked as though it was cooked days earlier and reheated covered in slimy starch, next night the mash well more like smash enough said, then chips which were frozen fries again well below standard for a hotel, the puddings I kid you not night 1 an apple, night 2 an orange, night 3 1/2 yes 1/2 a tinned peach with a little of the syrup from tin, and the choice of drinks were water from any of the 3 or 4 jugs available

I'm not a fussy person just have some standards and expect a comfortable clean Room with food that is of an edible standard ,where as this hotel has none when you walk along the corridors there is an extremely eery feel to the place and from the moment we got in our room our week break felt like a real strain, please look around before booking to save being disappointed
