We visited last July and stayed for 7 nights, the hotel was run by a lovely family and we enjoyed a breakfast across the road in the museum every morning with a beautiful view of the sea. The bedroom was basic yet comfortable with the lack of air conditioning not being too much of a problem as fans were available to hire if needed. The pool was lovely and the hotel was just a view minutes walk from the beach which was very handy. Overall we had a lovely stay and would recommend.
I stayed here for 9 nights. They were amazing and full of joy. I had an appartment with a sea and a garden view. The breakfast is served at the sea. And every dish is locally made in Crete and in the hotel. I remeber that I told the clerk there that I do not eat meat. Guess what happened? The waitress replaced the meat dishes with vegetarian ones without extra charge! Thank you, ILIOSTASI. I also received some tips about where to go in the city. By the way, close to the bus station next to spar supermarket (300 meters far from the hotel), you will find at the corner an info disk for an Excursion Center. Ask them there about trip destinations and details and you will get fair prices and spend great time, especially when you go other Islands by cruise like Santorini and Chrissi. (Transportation tip: There is a direct bus goes from Heraklion airport to Hersonissos. Take it and tell the bus driver that yoh want to embark the bus at Hersonissos bus stop number 24. After that walk about 300 meters to reach the hotel. The bus moves every 45 minutes untill 12:00 am- not later) Wish you a greater experience in Crete.…
Five of us travelled on 17th July for a two week stay. We had two apartments. One was a grand apartment with 5 beds and the other had 4 beds. Both had a fantastic sea view. Yiannis and Mary were our hosts and they are a lovely couple. The apartments are spotlessly clean and the beds are very comfortable. The outside is covered in climbing flora and looks beautiful. There are big ceiling fans on the ceiling and this was sufficient as the temperatures were around 25 degrees most nights. Our hosts also own the museum across the road which is open from 9am until 2pm 6 days a week. It is all about Cretan culture and is very interesting and hotel residents pay 7e per person. It is a lovely place. Breakfast is also served in the morning but we are late risers so never made it down. There is also a hotel beach on the other side of the museum and we would just stroll across the road from our loungers by the pool! It is great for snorkelling and even managed body boarding on a couple of days on the beach further along. Star Beach is 5 minute walk where there are water slides, jet skis, banana, ring rides and bungee for the more adventurous. There are also beach parties for the younger crowd. There are a few restaurants nearby and our favourites were Anatoli, Caravan, No Name and the White Lion and Tzaksiki. A stroll into the main strip of Hersonnissis takes around 10-15 minutes. It's a long strip!! All in all we had a fantastic relaxing time and will definitely return to Iliostatis.…
19 year old daughter and I stayed for a week during mid-June. The whole point was to get away from it all & relax. We arrived in the middle of the night, so nobody at reception, but keys & room number etc left for us on desk. Perfectly functional apartment, single bed for daughter in one area, separate bedroom with large double for me, balcony with table & chairs overlooking pool area and surrounded by beautiful flowers (drying area here too). There was a tv in the bedroom, but no sign of a remote control to turn it on!itchen fine for a cup of coffee and a sandwich, but not much else. Wet room bathroom was spotlessly clean, but not putting toilet paper down the toilet was a bit of a shock & took some getting used to! Following morning, we crossed the road to the museum in order to meet our hosts and book in properly. They were very welcoming, as were everyone we met during our stay. Snacks and drinks are available in the museum and can be brought out to you on the beach which is a very short walk through the museum. We spent almost every day relaxing on the beach, swimming in the sea or back at the salt water pool. The main town of Hersonissos is a 10-15 minute stroll (too hot to go any faster), with plenty of places to eat & things to do. The harbour area is a little further. There were further eateries to the other side of the apartments too. The museum was of great interest to us, as history buffs and we had a few good chats to the owner over the week. We also went on a boat trip around the bay with Hersonissos Cruises, which was really good value for money. Free wifi was available everywhere we went, including on the beach! Only a couple of things that were not to our liking. Firstly, the proximity of a very busy road above the pool area. We got used to it after a couple of days, but the noise from the scooters, quadbikes and lorries did interrupt the peace & tranquility, along with our sleep. Secondly, air-conditioning would be greatly appreciated. We did hire a couple of fans at extra cost after a few sleepless nights, which also helped us from being bitten even further by the mosquitos! As our flight home wasn't until late at night, we requested a late checkout, which was no problem & we were allowed to stay in the room until our transfer picked us up at 10pm. We will be back though, but next time in a sea-view or garden view room with plenty of insect repelent! Can't wait to smell the wonderful fig trees again.…
Room at the front with sea view. Family run by Yiannis and Maria - so kind and welcoming, as are all the staff. Breakfast is home cooked and personally served. Different typical Cretan dishes every day. Always quiet - pool to ourselves and plenty of loungers. Beach close by with Pandalis to serve you ouzo and Greek snacks. Sea very clear and a good temperature. Excellent snorkelling.
