I went here as a solo traveller and was immediately put at ease by the welcomg staff. I arrived super early in the morning and was given a welcome pack of a sandwich, fruit and water, this was a lovely welcome. The staff throughout my holiday were absolutely incredible, everyone was so lovely. Especially the barmen at night in the rooftop bar who were wonderful and chatty and welcoming. The food was good, if a little repetitive. There were no markers on any of the food for allergens. The two speciality restuarants were good, the Italian was infinitely better than the Greek however. The Italian was really good so it was a shame that you could only book it for one night of your stay. The night time entertainment, not going to lie, left a lot to be desired. I went most nights and left within max 20 mins to go back to the bar where there was live music. The rooms were clean and the sheets were immaculate every time. The hotel overall was also very clean. There's a shuttle taxi that runs down to the beach/shops every 15 mins or so which is super helpful since there is no pavement to walk on for most of the journey and what there is, is very steep. Great hotel overall that I would definitely recommend and would even consider going back to here even though this is something I aim to avoid doing!

Hotel's Favorite
This hotel is absolutely amazing from the location, to the staff and the food. From the moment we stepped into this hotel we were looked after by the amazing staff. The food was great, did not get bored on the AI at all. Also included with AI is a reservation at their Italian restaurant La Luna and their Greek restaurant The Aegean, amazing food on both occasions. The staff are the crowing glory of this hotel, which is kept exceptionally clean by the cleaning staff. A few shout outs for the following staff members who always went that extra mile, so welcoming and friendly and made our stay perfect - Konstantinos and Viktor in the bar George, Giannis, Eleni and Dimitris in the dining room The Animation Team who kept you entertained if you want to join in, but never any pressure to do so. The lovely reception staff who were always so helpful. If you stay here you will not be disappointed.

This hotel was fantastic! We went as a family of 4 (2 kids, 10 & 6) in May 2022. The room was fine with plenty of space, the pool and the daytime entertainment was great! The entertainment team were always really nice and approachable with lots of fun activities going on for all ages. Evening entertainment was obviously geared towards the kids but they were so excited every night for it. The food was nice, with lots of options, the kids loved it too. Service was great, and George was our favourite!!! The on-site water park was a real hit with kids but also for adults too! I would absolutely go back to this hotel and cannot recommend it highly enough 👌🏼

For me there were good and bad things about this hotel. I personally don’t feel it’s as good as some people make out in their reviews on here. Makes me wonder if people just don’t bother to review after their holiday, or if they are full of the all inclusive drinks that they think certain things are good. Anyway, I travelled here with my 13 year old daughter. Arrived late at night, checked in, was allocated my room and told that this was at the quiet pool. Was then told “no noise, no music!!”. We paid the tax and paid for the safe. We were given a bag containing a cheese and meat roll, an apple and a bottle of water. This was a nice gesture, then the guy drove us to our room. As mentioned by other reviews, the hotel is on a steep hill. Got into our room and it was very basic. Good wardrobe space though but the bathroom was very dated!!!! There was a hairdryer on the wall which I haven’t seen in a hotel for 30 years!!! The towels were good quality though. No kettle in the room although there was a fridge. The hotel aesthetically is pretty with great views. The grounds are well maintained. Good choice of pool areas. The main pool, quiet pool which is for adults only, the fun pool for kids and also the water park with the slides. The adult pool had better quality sun beds and the toilet facilities were pristine. Overall, the hotel is spotlessly clean. The location of this hotel for me personally was not great. I like to be able to walk out my hotel and have shops and bars within walking distance. This hotel is located on a busy main road. Yes there is a bus stop outside it, we did take the bus up to Malia one night which was only 3 euros. The bus also offer a free shuttle service to the beach which is good and is located in the town Stallis. Lots of bars and shops there. Entertainment was poor, not even on every night! The food in the hotel was ok but not great compared to other places I’ve been.Occasionally there was something decent but a couple of nights I struggled to find something and ended up eating salad. The choice of deserts were poor. One night I opted for a hazelnut cake and the middle of it was frozen. The breakfast was enjoyable though, especially the French toast. Also a good selection of cakes and muffins. The restaurant was spotlessly clean. Hand sanitizer stations as you entered, although this was only occasionally enforced depending on the mood of the staff on that particular day! Also felt the food was not overly warm, also the plates were not heated. This was my 1st time in Greece and everyone said oh the Greeks are lovely, well, some of them were and some were very rude. One day I went to the snack bar at the kids pool. I had ordered several items of food to take away and I also wanted some drinks, bearing in mind I had to walk back down a big hill! I lifted a tray to put everything on and the bar man gave me into trouble! He appeared slightly aggressive and I was a bit shocked and annoyed. I didn’t want to get into an argument with him, so I walked away. He spoke to me like a naughty child! Also, 2 days before I was leaving, I had enquired about keeping the room on as we had a late flight. I was told this would be 30 euros and to come back to reception and ask the morning I was leaving. I went to reception at 9am that morning and the girl told me I should have asked the night before!!! I explained the conversation I had with her colleague on the Sunday night and she told me there was nothing in the diary and almost dismissed me. I told her I wasn’t happy about this and I was doing as her colleague had requested. She did not seem overly concerned or helpful towards me but told me to come back at 10am and speak to the reservation manager. So I returned at 10am and told I could have the room, paid the 30 euros, I asked if this meant we could have dinner in the restaurant, was told yes and was given a slip of paper. She told me our bracelets wouldn’t work to pay for things so I asked how I would pay for drinks etc throughout the day. She told me it would be fine. I thought this meant I could pay cash but didn’t challenge it as I felt I was getting dismissed again. Maybe it was the language barrier?? Or maybe just her attitude?? Anyway, at lunchtime I went back to the snack bar, walked up the steep hill, 24o heat, got the same guy from the tray incident and explained I had checked out but could I pay cash for food and drink? He said no, explained I would have to go back to reception and open an account and give them my passport to keep until I left. By this point I was really annoyed! However, I went back to reception, trailed away down the hill, got the same receptionist from the morning, explained again what I needed. She verified that I had to open an account and leave my passport until my days bill was paid on leaving. I told her that was fine but challenged why she hadn’t explained this to me in the morning when I had asked. She didn’t look pleased! The reservation manager heard the conversation and said something to her in Greek and the girl looked annoyed. So I opened the account and left my passport, however before I walked away I asked them for a receipt to say they had my passport. They didn’t look pleased but the manager gave me my passport back and just told me to make sure I paid before I left that evening. Which I did! My bill was 12 euros. At dinner that night, I gave my paper slip to the woman on the door, she told me to give it to the waiter. Then she asked us to sanitise our hands, she hadn’t asked us all week. The waiter took the slip and told us we could pay cash for our drinks, not even an offer of a free water. By this point I’d had enough and I just wanted to leave. Would I go back? No Would I recommend it? Definitely not

This was our first time holidaying in Greece as a family with children on an all inclusive basis and we were not disappointed. The hotel is beautiful and the staff are lovely. The hotel complex is very spacious and never feels crowded, always plenty of sunbeds. The food was delicious and varied, we never had a bad meal and the quality of the food and drink at the various bars was good. The staff within all areas of the hotel are lovely, very efficient and really helpful. Special mentions to Lara and Alex on Reception and Dimitrius and George in the dining room. There is a very relaxed feel around the hotel and we will certainly be returning next year.

We’ve just returned from a lovely week at this hotel! It’s beautiful It would not be ideal if you have any mobility issues as you can imagine Greece is not the best for mobility problems Anyway The hotel is beautiful. The rooms are perfect and amenities plentiful The pools are salt water but nice albeit a bit cold but we did travel in October The fun pool is fab roomy and welcoming with views that are fresh out of a magazine The food is fab it’s reasonably priced. We went half board and used the services at lunch around the pool 3 times it’s about €3 for chips but you get loads The adults only pool looked lovely I travelled with a 12 year old so we didn’t go but my room was located next to this and it always was pristine The main pool well what can I say breath taking. It’s massive, lots of entertainment throughout the day and just stunning to look at also It’s got 2 bars also which is handy The slides make this hotel if you’re travelling with kids. They’re so much fun regardless of the temp we had the most fun on them Ok so let’s go to the food We booked The Greek restaurant a la carte on arrival and it was stunning I have photod the menu it was beautiful everything served to us was delicious clean plates We didn’t bother with the Italian just because we knew pasta is always in the buffet restaurant and we’ve come to Greece so why would we wanna? The buffet restaurant is nice, it’s a refreshing change to be seated and not have to scout for a table like we’re used to. At this hotel you’re given a table and seated which was a plus for us The food is amazing so much choice primarily green but if you didn’t like Greek food why would you come!! It was lovely I reckon I had a Greek salad starter every time I went it was soooo good not just that but my daughter who liked Greek food from restaurants back home got to try everything we’d not usually order from takeaways or restaurants for fear of wastage and spoiler* she loved them all! The staff I can’t really comment I feel some are what you’d class as rude and the others are so lovely you just wanna hug them it was hit and miss but I think it was a language thing rather than rude The rooms are on a hill but they do transfers pick up is at the main pool and they’ll take you to your room if required Free beach bus On-site shop open 9am till 10 Reception staff are friendly and attentive Courtesy rooms available on request which are fab for late night flights The bus stop is literally right outside the hotel it’s cheap as chips and they all speak English fluently you can literally go anywhere and it’s so easy Get the bus to Heraklion bus station and you can travel literally anywhere on the island This hotel is a dream. You won’t believe me until you go but you’ll have the best time. I tend to not go back to the place but I’d return here You would not be sorry booking this hotel even though we booked the worst week weather wise we had the best time

We visited Grand Hotel 13.10.22 - 20.10.22. It was our first holiday in Crete and we had a wonderful time. The hotel is so clean and the staff work so hard. We were all inclusive and although not big drinkers or big eaters we felt it was still good value for money as the choice is so extensive with different dishes served every night. We went out every day to explore the island and booked a few day trips. We found the trips were cheaper to book in Stalis than the holiday company reps at the hotel. We were picked up and dropped off at the hotel for both of them. We went to the Listhesi plateau, Zeus Cave and Knossis on one trip and on the other we went to Agonias Nikolias, Eludona and Spinalonga Island. Both were really good full day trips and guides were really informative. We also walked to Stalis Beach about 15 minutes walk which is a lovely beach. We booked sun loungers for 6 euros for both of us which included service from the guy who rented them to us if we wanted drinks, food etc and he brought it over. The hotel does run a shuttle service from 10am if you don't want to walk to Stalis. Another day we walked along the coast to Hersonissos, if you cross over to the Nana Palace and go left you can walk all the way along the path to the Harbour and the archiological site. There is also on the way a strip that is full of bars and shops, I did find this a bit tacky but there were parts that the views were beautiful across the bay. If your not upto the walk which took us about an hour there and an hour back you can catch a bus outside the Nana Palace which costs around 2 euros. One day we took the bus from the Nana Palace bus stop all the way to Heraklion which is the main city and takes about 30 minutes. Bus cost us 3 euros 20 cents each. It can get a bit hectic around the bus stop especially straight after breakfast and if you are from the UK put your British ways of orderly queuing behind you as like us you will find yourselves at the back even if you was there first and we couldn't get on the first bus as people just barge in front of you. In Heraklion we visited the Venetian Fort and also the Archiological museum which was very interesting. We wandered the streets, had lunch and got back to the bus station. You need to get your ticket before you get on the bus, confusing to us as we thought we just paid on the bus like we did when going. So again we missed one and had to go and buy tickets to get the next, but they do run every 15 - 20 mins so that was ok. The bus stop on the same side as Grand Hotel go's to Malia and not sure if it goes all the way to Ag Nik or if you have to change in Malia but you can ask at the hotel they maybe able to advise. The food in the hotel is first class and we booked the Agean restaurant one night and the Italian another which was included in the all inclusive deal. Both these restaurants were first class. The wines served with meals were very nice especially the red which was quite sweet which I liked. In the restaurants we had a bottle of Merlot on both nights which was also very nice. All the spirits served seemed to be named ones that you get in UK. I got a pina colada which was a bit strong for me. Also the gin and tonic went down very well. We didn't have to wait long for waiter to come and serve us like other reviewers have said. All the staff in the restaurant and bars were friendly and couldn't do enough for us especially Giorgos in the main restaurant. I would definitely recommend the hotel especially if you have children as there always seemed to be something going on each day for them. The evening entertainment was really good and we especially enjoyed the Greek dancing. The only complaint I have was we was there when the storm hit but that was not the fault of the hotel but maybe the Gods were not happy that day. Thankfully it was ok the next day although a bit overcast and windy it didn't spoil our holiday.

Ok we just returned from this hotel last night after an 11 night stay on a half board basis, and this is an honest review, we are not picky or snobby at all and have travelled extensively , and we don't expect super luxury at all, just what we pay for and the basics. Ok here goes, arrived late at night and checked in fine, and was given a sandwich and an apple and a bottle of water, which was very thoughtful, We were charged 33 euros to use the room safe which is really old and has a key lock. So you have to carry the key around all of the time, that was expensive . We were transported to our room by a van as ALL of the rooms are on a steep hill and majority have multiple stairs, We paid for a superior room with a sea view, there was NOTHING superior about the room, we had three single beds, a bathroom with a shower over bath, which had rust marks on it and we had a chair and balcony. The balcony furniture was an old metal table and two chairs, so uncomfortable, no cushions provided, so we had to use towels to sit on. In the info about the hotel online it states that there is an electric kettle in every room ....................... well there isn't, due to covid apparently, there is nothing. Our sea view was only visible if you strained your neck to see it from the side, so after alot of huffing and puffing by the hotel reception, we did get another room, with a better view next day ( all the really good sea views seem to be for the other Europeans ) We are still trying to work out what was superior about our room! Room was cleaned daily, although we usually just get it done every couple of days, it doesn't need doing every day, and the cleaning ladies were generally good, we were VERY shocked one evening though to find that the cleaners had gone through our cupboards to remove an iron that we had managed to borrow, they should have said they needed it back, and we would have handed it back, obviously everyone needs to share ( although a supposedly 4 star hotel should have plenty for everyone ) but they can't go through our personal things and just remove stuff, totally out of order, we have never experienced this anywhere, disgusting! Restaurant, is not, it's a glorified canteen / cattle market, cereal bowls are plastic, and the spoons are serving spoons and very big. In the evenings, soup is available which was very nice some nights, but again not enough cutlery is provided, just one knife fork and spoon, so when I had buttered ( yeah don't get me started , if that was butter, then hannibal lechter is a vegetarian !!!) my stale bread roll my knife and side plate were whisked away, leaving me with just a fork for the main course, and haveing to go searching for more cutlery, annoying every night. Food is basic, but ok. On our first morning at breakfast we went to pick up a normal size plate, and a we were informed by an irate kitchen memeber that we could not use them, we had to use a much smaller tea size plate, we never have anything cooked, but we do sometimes have a couple of boiled eggs and brown bread, and it was nigh on impossible to get these on one plate! Plates etc are whisked away before we were even finished sometimes. Waiting staff were ok, but not overly friendly, as I said cattle market they just seem to want to get you in and out quickly, there was nothing relaxing about the whole dining experience. Entertainment was outside in what they call the theatre, which is basically what they have in zoos to watch the sea lion shows, hard concrete to sit on, although very raggy cloths provided to sit on and very steep once again, so don't take you glad rags to dress up in ladies, it's not that sort of place. Location is rubbish, nothing just outside the hotel, not even easy to walk to the beach, just a busy main road. They do provide a frequent shuttle bus to Stallis which has lovely beaches and shopping and cafes etc. I read all of the reviews and can only deduce that others have low standards or that they sent us to the wrong place, lol Nowhere at the adults pool to get a drink or snack, We travel abroad 3 /4 times a year to various places and have experienced 3/ 4 star hotels and cruises and this is NOT 4 star, a struggling 3 star at best. We were not impressed at all and will never return or reccomend this to anyone, you can get much better

Fantastic all in experience! Very friendly staff. Amazing food, and a buffet that's different every day. Great cocktails! Rooms are in small separate buildings, so you don't have much issues with noise and everyone has a beautiful sea view. 4 pools: a large main pool, a relaxing quiet pool, a fun and games pool, and a pool with 5 big water slides. So you can choose your pool experience! Cute cats as well! Only part I did not like were the a la carte restaurants. They were mediocre at best. Don't bother with them and enjoy the far superior buffet!
