Stayed here in October 2019 as solo traveller. On arrival it was around 10.15pm local time, I was offered food but decided I just needed a drink and my room so declined. I was given a room on 1st floor down corridor believe it or not it was room 101, right outside there was two doors, first one not locked this led to an area for cleaners to use, then door to room. The room was not nice at all, so avoid this room, the views not good but the shower area was very old and stained in shower base definitely needed replacing. I requested another room and was told to ask at reception the following morning. I managed to just about get couple drinks in, both bars shut 11pm. Following day I was given another room on 2nd floor near reception this room was very nice, the concierge, Tomas, brought my case from other room to me. The door lock leading to balcony was faulty but within 15 mins of my reporting it was fixed. The only problem with this room was that every time I showered the floor was wet through. I didn't report this, didn't want to move again. I found food good and restaurant staff very pleasant apart from the main man, maitre de, he was miserable, I said calamara most days he never spoke back or even smiled so I decided to ignore him. I loved the pool area especially the quiet pool at the back, sometimes I had pool to myself. I also loved the champagne bar and Androniki, the barmaid, was an expert making champagne cocktails and very friendly too. Unlike the man who worked the pool bar, he always gave me the impression he didn't like his work rarely smiled. The know bar near the beach is fabulous and I used to call in there most days. The location of the hotel is brilliant, 2 mins from beach and 5 mins from harbour and main area of bars and restaurants. I would have liked to see more entertainment for I didn't see any during the day and only 3 acts in the evening during the 10 nights I stayed. Overall I agree with most reviews that this is not a 5 star hotel if it was refurbished it could be good 4 star. Nevertheless I really enjoyed my stay but I always try to enjoy my holidays regardless of the downsides look at the positives, good location, good staff and food. First time to Crete will definitely be going back but would like to try another resort to compare.

Went as a substitute for Rhodes due to Thomas Cook collapse Altho hotel is rated 5 star I wouldn’t actually agree but reading up on how hotels are rated I’m not surprised it’s amenities that get the ratings not the accommodation therefore you can stay in a dump as long as it’s got the necessities needed to reach that level On to the hotel Some levels were extremely pleasant like champagne bar where others let it down an upgrade had been attempted but not fully achieved like old brown frames with new green doors in wardrobes and a few bits knocked out of walls etc Food —— some days it was good others not so —- little repetitive at times - no curries or Chinese which would have been good — had egg n beans for breakfast every day —- meals seemed better on a lunchtime than the evening - as the last week of the season some amenities had closed down which was a shame Overall a good enough stay tho

At least twenty years since any much maintenance. Dirty paintwork, worn lino in passageways, chipped furniture in bedrooms. Canteen food. Drinks packages contribute to noise around pool late at night. Any story that reception can make up for shortcomings. A Greek version of Fawlty Towers. Go at your peril!!!

We arrived late evening and were very warmly greeted, and were told that it would be 40 euros for taxes which had to be paid in euros, and we were not given a receipt. The check in was very quick and were escorted to our room and asked if we were happy with it which we were. It was explained to us to drop our bags in our room and go to the dining room where a cold plate of food was put out for us. There was wine, beer and hot drinks available to help ourselves. We did feel that this hotel was not 5 stars but a very good 3.5, but this this not stop us from liking the hotel. There is a champagne bar, pool bar and the know bar on the beach from for the clientele to us. Although we only found out about the latter from other holiday makers the hotel did not point this out or that they offer sunbeds on the beach for 4 euros a day far cheaper than others along the front. It would be good if they could add these small details to the information sheet in the room. The room and bathroom was a little dated and only had one chair in the room so one of us had to use the bed to sit on, only small niggles as we did not intend to spend our time in the room. The food was good apart from the breakfast, if like me you can't eat fried food and cereal it to sweet there was only porridge and no microwave to cook it. Maybe this is what they would call granola. There was a lot of tinned fruit, and the yogurt was lovely but full fat. It would also have been nice to have had some fruit yogurts at lunch time and in the evening. Both my husband and I would have liked to see more labelling of the food for example: Yogurts full fat, fat free, dips and sauces need labelling. There was always fish and some sort of pasta on the menu, the chicken was lovely and the different ways they did potatoes was just fabulous. Desserts, well what can I say they really did go the extra mile and I daresay a lot of the waistbands must have gone that way as well lol! The staff were very friendly and were always there to help. It was very quite when we went end Sept/Oct but also Thomas cook had just collapsed to I would think that must have had an impact as Bristol airport was very quite as well. The hotel is well located for shops, bars and buses and it cost about 3 euros each was to go to Heraklion. If you do go by bus and the driver says sit down that is because a conductor will be on board shortly to take your fare. Coming back buy your ticket at the station. The beach is shingle and there is a ridge going across the bay which you have to walk over so shoes are a must, buy them in the UK as they are pricey in the resort. We found this hotel to be extremely quite and were not disturbed in the small hours. Overall a most enjoyable holiday and we will certainly be coming back to this resort and hotel.

Apart from the housekeeping ladies, the staff were rude and condecending. We booked this on the rating of a 4 star, no way can this be. Hotel is very outdated, decor very '70's'. Food choice was limited, we even got fish shaped fingers! Food was obviously cooked and left then reliant on the hot water in the buffet stands to warm through - subsequently the majority of the offerings were cold. Insufficient staff in the dining room to clear and relay tables, dirty table cloths (sounds pretty but just compounded exasperation). The pool area saw broken tiles being a major trip hazard, multiple guests seen with bandages, no warnings or taping over of the tiles that you would expect. Oh and you have to pay for towels (refundable deposit) safe, coffee (only filter coffee with all inclusive), all in all, glad to be home.
