Me and my fiancé travelled to stay for our first time in Crete and could not have been more pleased with the quality of accommodation on offer at Balsamico. We were warmly welcomed by Maria on arrival and processed quickly through check in to our amazing room with hot tub on the terrace. Everything was spotlessly clean and modern in the room, there was even a drinks fridge for keeping bottled water and other drinks. Covid protocols are strictly followed by all the staff and there is plenty of space around the pool to relax (most of the time not very busy at all). The breakfast each morning offered lots of variety and was always delicious.

Nothing was too much trouble for Maria or the rest of her family who were always on hand for any advice about the local area, serving a nice drink from the bar or just having a chat!

Balsamico is a short walk (less than 5 mins) from Old Chersonisos village square which has lots of bars/restaurants and shops, another good advantage being so close to these.

I’d highly recommend to couples who like a very relaxed and warm atmosphere!

Balsamico is one of the best traditional suits around the old village of Hersonissos. At the moment we stepped in, all the members were extremely friendly and polite with us. The area of the pool was our cozy spot where we were able to order food and drinks at any time during the day. Our room was so nicely decorated based in stone details and the most important, it was clean and provided shampoo and shower gel. We will visit them again soon!

We stayed at the hotel for summer vacation and it was half board included.

We expected nice meals every day and Maria who is manager was very nice and warm.
We tasted traditional greek foods made with fresh organic ingredients and it was very comfortable like our home. You could feel special feeling because it is very local. We had very fun and spent memorable days there. We already miss there. I wish i could be there again.
I absolutely recommend this hotel !

After spending 5 nights in Sisi (Vasia Resort and Spa 5 Star) and 2 nights in Hersonissos (Dorian Boutique Apartments)
After reading the reviews, We booked 5 nights at Balsamico. This place is amazing. The rooms are exactly as described. The Hostess (Maria) is great, Nickos the Barman is a total gentleman, always smiling and really does the hotel proud, you can tell he loves what he does. My only very slight niggle is the hair dryer. Not the easiest thing to use! I’d suggest you bring your own.
Although we booked 5 nights, we actually stayed 7.
If you’re looking to visit Hersonissos Old Town I would highly recommend this Hotel. You will not be disappointed.
We will be back 😘

We can absolutely recommend this hotel. Many thanks for everything. Very clean, great food, incredibly nice hosts. It was wonderful and we will definitely be back. Also the room with the outdoor whirlpool was very nice. If you are looking for a nice place to chillout and explore the island - book this! ;)

My Husband and our family have recently returned from a fabulous 10 day holiday at the Balsamico Suites and our party took over 2 of the wonderful rooms, bearing in mind there are only 9 available. My mother in law who is 80years old accompanied us - which was her first time abroad, along with our children aged 12yrs and 17yrs. This place is really a little piece of heaven. It is so traditionally Greek, with spacious apartments/rooms, laid out nicely which are exceptionally clean and well maintained. We planned a very lazy holiday so spent the majority of the time sunbathing around the beautiful pool. Fortunately for us, the other guests chose to venture out most days, so we were left feeling very lucky having what was felt like a private villa - with wonderful drinks and food available always served up with a smile and a bit of banter. The temperature was always between 30 - 38 degrees during our stay so the pool was a welcome relief. Maria and her Husband Michalis really know how to make guests feel welcome and I feel as if I have known Maria for a lot longer than the 10 days. We were self catering but there are options for B+B and HB. The quality of Michalis's cooking was outstanding and better than most of the restaurants we ate in. The breakfasts were different every morning, serving up pastries and local specialities. You will not need lunch after a breakfast at Balsamico. Upon request, Maria and Michalis cooked for us (whatever we wanted) as we were self catering, so we ate around the pool by candlelight on a couple of occasions. We fancied lamb chops one evening with a Greek salad so they purchased them from their local butcher - {not supermarket} and cooked up a very tasty meal - with desserts thrown in for free!

The old town of Hersonnisos is just a 3 minute walk from the suites where there is a lovely feel and plenty of places to dine or simply sip the local wine whilst watching the world go by. The locals are very friendly and by the end of our stay we too felt like locals.

I thought it was a nice touch that Maria arranged for a member of her staff - Jordon to use her car to assist us with the luggage up a small hill to meet the coach back to the airport, whilst offering lifts to all.

All in all - thank you all for a great holiday. We hope to return next year

I cannot begin to tell you how amazing this hotel is. Everything is just perfect. Believe me I have travelled extensively, I am fussy and I have stayed in so many lovely hotels but this one wins my top award. The design of the hotel all the different ornaments etc is all so well thought out. The hosts Maria and Mike do everything in a sincere manner to please. We ate at the hotel testaurant for 5 out of the 7 nights and every night the meal was delicious. There is absolutely no problem with the hosts if you go elsewhere for the evening. They will recommend restaurants to you. The village is 2 mins walk away. We are in our 60s and did walk up and down to the local town. It took at least 40mins. We also travelled to Agio Nic and Knossos by local bus. So you do not have to have a hire car. Every morning there were different traditional Cretan dishes to try for breakfast. Never the same dish. Most people went out for the day so we had the pool to ourselves. A beautiful clean pool. We never go back to the same place but this hotel is breaking all rules for us. We plan to return May 2019. Do not stay anywhere else choose this amazing delightful hotel. You will not be disappointed. I can not recommend it highly enough.Thelma

This is an awesome boutique property brimming over with character and charm which is matched by owners Maria and her husband. It's one of the stand-out properties of Old Hersonissos and offers a quiet retreat. It has been thoughtfully designed and our suite was spacious with a small kitchen and a balcony. It was also spotless. The pool and bar area are a treat and chilling out there was a pleasure. Breakfast was a feast with different local dishes served every day. It's a small village with a handful of restaurants and bars with the beach a good 30 min walk away, downhill. We went in October and the weather wasn't always wonderful but the welcome we received was certainly warm.

Firstly, We would like to express our thanks to Maria for squeezing us in to this wonderful hotel at very short notice. It truly is a hidden gem on this magnificent island. It is difficult to express the quality of the Balsamico Suites. From our numerous conversations with the beautiful Maria and Michalis, we began to understand just why and how their hotel is such a special place; their personalities really shine through within every detail of the environment. Michalis is a wizard in his Cretan Castle, and Maria the much loved Queen! Their wonderful family and generous hospitality make this hotel what it is. It manages to be welcoming and chilled with a large dose of cool. The sheer quality is outstanding; the sun beds, the castle like rooms, the landscaping, the shower heads, linen, the cleanliness, the food and drink, in fact everything, was, in our view, exceptional . All of the staff made such a fuss of us and our children. The children had tears in their eyes in the taxi to the airport - which, by the way was also outstanding, having been a Merc AMG organised by the hotel!

Michalis and Maria serve up the best breakfast, ; fit for a King! Nothing was too much trouble and we can't wait to return as a result. Hopefully my Greek will improve during our next visit!!

Thanks for a fabulous time guys, from Dewi, Tiffany, Fin and Gwen (Walia!) xxx

Maria and her husband are running this little place in the most pleasant way possible. The room is very nice and very clean and the food in their taverna was definitely the the best we tasted in the area. We found this place an excellent authentic alternative to the all inclusive hotels and we strongly recommend it. Keep in mind that you will need a car though it is pretty expensive to use a taxi (7 Euro to the main road). Have a nice time and say hello for us.
