Baruah Bhavan review. I stayed at Baruah Bhavan Oct 29 - Nov 2, 2015 (4 nights) and had a truly great time staying there. Mr. Baruah (owner) and Mr. Sarkar (manager) were very friendly and helpful, but it was really Mr. Hari Kalita (caretaker) who made my stay so pleasant. His attention to every detail (bed coffee at 4 AM!),...

Dear Remo, Thank you for your review. You are indeed too kind and gracious with your comments. However, just to keep the record straight, 'BARUAH BHAVAN', is actually right in the city centre. As you are aware, in any city the centre is determined by the area's proximity to the GPO and with it's postal pin code of Guwahati -...

Dear Diptendu, Thank you for staying at "Baruah Bhavan". Our guest house is located at the heart of the city with its pincode being 781001, (Guwahati - 1) next to the GPO. In fact, G. S. Road with its pincode of 781007, (Guwahati - 7) is not in the city centre, being around 5 kms from the GPO. As you...

Hello Abhishek, We are glad that you enjoyed your stay. The bathroom in Deluxe Suite No. 6 is slightly smaller since this suite is cheaper than the Super Deluxe Suites where the bathrooms are just enormous. Nevertheless, as you have noticed all the bathrooms in our guest house, are well equipped with bathtubs, geysers, anti-skid tiles, etc. with sufficient sunlight...

I cannot countenance every coming to the North East and not stopping at Baruah Bhavan. It has become my second home. Raj, Hari and Mr Sakar all have looked after me superbly on my visits including such help as rescuing my visa card from the incompetent clutches of the Indian Postal Service, insuring all my clothes, shoes and backpack are...

When we planned for a trip to Guwahati, we had a big confusion with regards to our accommodation option. After going through various options on various websites, I zeroed in on Baruah Bhavan. I was a bit apprehensive as this was my first experience with B/B option. But then the reviews made me feel somewhat comfortable. I contacted them on...

Hi ! We are happy that you liked your stay at 'Baruah Bhavan'. During power cuts the invertor provides power for lighting and fans in the guest house. In case you need a charging point during the period when there is a power cut you could use a charging point located in our office on the ground floor. Any of...

It was a good decision to pick this no frills heritage property to stay, Located ideally with Brahmaputra flowing just 10 min walk away from it. We loved the hospitality and the simple yet tasty breakfast cooked and served by the staff. We chose their best suite which opens up in the living area of first floor and it was...

Hi Amitabh Chaturvedi, We are indeed very happy to have received favourable comments regarding your stay at 'Baruah Bhavan'. However, the plumbing in the bathroom has since been attended to and hence there should be no room for complaints in this regard, when you visit 'Baruah Bhavan' next. Raj Baruah

Loved the property..heritage home of highly accomplished family of Guwahati. Decently done up rooms with lot of antique furniture displayed. We checked in their best of the room on first floor which opens up in the living area. Poster beds, big bathroom and clean linen all made gave us a nice feeling. But yes, the upkeep of bathroom and plumbing...

Neat place to stay in Guwahati. Clean, reasonably priced, staff ever willing to help. Its located a bit away, although close to the riverfront. Restaurants, shops and the offices where you might go for securing innerline permits are all a bit far away. Doesn't have the charm of a homestay though, as the owner doesn't live in the same house..

Hi ! Thank you for your kind words. Incidentally, I live downstairs and am available in my office which is located in the premises of 'Baruah Bhavan' itself. The place feels like home, and the staff was extremely helpful in getting a bunch of things sorted (like inner line permit through a travel agent). Food is reasonably good (though you should eat at Paradise always). The only reason I haven't given 5 star is: 1. bathroom smells a bit 2. lacks privacy to some extent 3. wifi works...
