I stayed at the Rogan House during an interview for a job at Kenyon. The interview process during the day was stressful but I was always able to wind down and relax when I came back to the house. The night before my interview I stayed up late working on the downstairs dining table. The adjustable lighting was great for prepping my notes and it was as quiet as can be. I eventually moved to the chairs next to the fireplace. My favorite part of my stay was my late nights by the fire. It was below zero outside but the house was always nice and warm, especially by the fire. The grab and go breakfast was good. There was fresh fruit and things like oatmeal, poptarts, and homemade muffins. Coffee as well. I stayed in the Janney room and loved it. It felt very homey. Bathroom was small but very nice and had great soap. Bed was super comfy. No complaints. Jamie, the owner, is super sweet. She contacted me how to get in before my arrival and made sure to be available if I needed any help. I accidently facetimed her when I was carrying my bags up the stairs to my room. I was so embarrassed but she immediately called back (over the phone) and made sure I had everything I needed for my stay. She was great. The Rogan House is a good stay if you are trying to get away from some of the action on the hill. You won't run into too many students out there. The downstairs would be a great area for any visiting family with kids. Plenty of space to spread out. I would definitely recommend.…
The innkeepers worked really hard to create a clean and safe environment. The location was within walking distance of Kenyon College. We stayed in the Kokosing suite - two parents and a high school senior. The area was very private from the rest of the house. The sheets and towels smelled wonderfully and the beds were very comfortable. I did not see shampoo and conditioner available, so best to bring your own or request it from the innkeepers. The innkeepers left out a lot of breakfast type foods, fruit, and a baked item. There was tea, orange juice, and coffee. I can not wait to return to this house when they are offering a full breakfast again! The innkeepers kept in touch via text and the location is quiet and nice.
My daughter and I spent the better part of a week at the Rogan House in Gambier. We were there to walk the Kokosing Valley Trail. The bed & breakfast is within walking distance of the trail, Kenyon College, the Village Inn, the campus bookstore and only a 15 minute drive from Mount Vernon, Oh. We had a great time. Because of COVID-19 restrictions, our hosts were not able to make breakfast for us, but they left us plenty of fruits and breakfast snacks & drinks. And various single service coffee choices! The artwork on display is beautiful and available for sale. The Kokosing Suite has two bedrooms and is in a secluded section of the house. We really enjoyed it and had a great time!
I enjoyed a 2 night stay at this quiet, clean, charming and convenient bed and breakfast just a 5 minute walk from Kenyon College. The proprietor quickly responded to my questions at booking and also asked about any special dietary needs. He was very accommodating to my check in time and offered recommendations for nearby dining and activities. Over the two days the breakfast items included a delicious quiche, fruit , ham, eggs, as well as potatoes with fresh herbs from the herb garden. The bedrooms are a good size, each with it's own bath, crisp linens and small extras such as a mini-fridge, tv, and eco-friendly soap. A well-appointed sitting room offers lots of natural light and a comfortable sofa and chairs. Original artwork adorns the walls with works by local artists. If you have a chance to stay here, you won't be disappointed. The Rogan House provides comfort and a delicious breakfast when visiting Kenyon College or the surrounding area.…
Everything about our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. Jamie is a delightful host, breakfast was delicious and plentiful, and the inn is clean and nicely remodeled, while still retaining the charm of an historic property. It's convenient to walk from the Inn to Kenyon College, shops, and restaurants. Jamie also gave us lots of ideas for entertainment and restaurants in the area. I can't think of anything that could have been added to make our stay at the Rogan Inn more enjoyable!
We so enjoyed our stay! The Kokosing Suite is an ideal set up for groups that need a bit more space, with 2 separate bedrooms, a shared bath and its own stairway. The common areas are spacious and inviting with comfortable seating, reading materials & artwork. A hot gourmet breakfast is served along with fabulous French pressed coffee. The proprietors really set the tone with friendly banter and a laid back vibe. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!
Our family of 2 adults and two teens stayed overnight on a visit to Kenyon College. Phil and Jamie offered outstanding hospitality. In addition to our spotless 2 bedroom suite, we enjoyed relaxing by the fireplace, and hanging out in the light filled living doom and office. The entire place is spotless and in excellent condition. There were little extras such as coffee and home baked cookies available. Phil gave helpful suggestions about places for lunch and dinner The walls showcase works by local artists. We slept well on very comfortable mattresses. Hot breakfast was tasty and generous and our dietary preferences were taken into account. We would stay again anytime we are in the area.
The Rogan House offered spotlessly clean and very comfortable lodging. Spacious rooms, soft and ample bedding, delicious food, gorgeous local artwork, and welcoming proprietors made our stay in Gambier outstanding. A warm fire in the open den capped the evening. Phil and Jamie's breakfast was abundant with baked french toast, ham, juice, fresh fruit, and lots of coffee. Highly recommend!
My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at Phil and Jamie’s Rogan House. From the moment we were greeted with a warm welcome til we waved goodbye, we had a comfortable and cared for experience. The home is very beautiful inside and out, with a cozy bed, comfortable at home feel and many amenities. Phil greeted with a warm beverage to start the day while Jamie consistently delivered delicious, nourishing breakfasts. The Rogan House is in a perfect location to enjoy Gambier and visit Kenyon. There are many personal touches to the stay and the house which made for an all around great experience. We look forward to a future visit!
