My husband and I had a peaceful, and relaxing weekend in the Harmony Suite. The suite is one of 3 in a log cabin. The interior was spotlessly clean, tastefully furnished and had all the thoughtful extra touches....microwave popcorn, DVDs, tissues, paper towels, nice toiletries, air freshener spray for the bathroom and fluffy white robes. The bed was comfy and the sheets luxurious. We both enjoyed the 2 person jetted jacuzzi tub and the shower was great, too with nice water pressure. We loved the 25 foot vaulted ceiling and coziness of the suits. Perfect little kitchen complete with all appliances including a dishwasher. We ordered the famous hearty country breakfast which was delicious and delivered right to our door! The property was beautiful with farm animals, peacocks, gazebo, pond, huge fire pit, BBQ grill, and walking paths. There's also a lodge on the property. Jim and Laurie are friendly and extra accommodating hosts. And our dog Chloe was welcome, too as this is a pet friendly cabin. We can't wait to come back soon!

Nestled between Mansfield and Columbus. A lovely, relaxing place to regroup, retreat or gather for party. We just needed place to get together with family. Super clean and spacious, we were able to stretch out yet be together. We brought fish gear and tried the fishing with grands in the little farm pond. Petted the critters and enjoyed the rolling countryside. We stayed in the Lodge. It was beautiful but because of the stairs, next time we will probably go for one of the suites. Did enjoy the feel of beds upstairs together. Reminded me of a family cabin when a kid...but exceptionally soft and cushy beds. Very nicely decorated. What can we say about the critters. They were cool! Well...exception... not a piggie fan. We had to talk to the grands about not running around the creatures, but the owners were very kind at showing the kids their animal friends. Very unique place to stay. Would recommend highly with 2 caveats: slow intro to critters. Older folks may need to discuss with owners any downstairs night accommodations available to be close to "facilities" and not have to negotiate stairs. Otherwise luxurious relaxing time in country. Kitchen is well-designed and equipped for big groups or just a family group, like ours. Very convenient to main highway so that mommies and daddies can make a short break-away and leave kiddies with gramma and gramps. Thank you Laurie and Jim!

Thank you so much for your very kind and thoughtful review. We are so glad everyone enjoyed their visit and the grandkids enjoyed their interactions with the petting zoo critters. Our apologies about the steps to the loft bedroom upstairs. We would have been more than happy to set up a few rollaway beds on the main level to better accomodate you folks. It was truly our pleasure to host your family and we look forward to your return visit when you have some time available. Until then, be blessed and safe!

We visited the Heartland Country Resort and Lodge for my husband’s birthday. What a relaxing and peaceful place this is! The owners Laurie and Jim are great people and make every effort to be sure that their guests are well taken care of. There is something for everyone here. There is a nice petting zoo for the kids (and adults too). There are nice parks in the area for nature enthusiasts all year round. The accommodations are perfect for just kicking back to relax. We ordered the breakfast and were more than happy. Everything was tasty, hot and delivered to our cabin door! We can’t say enough about this place! Go and find out for yourself what a gem this is! If the Lord is willing, we will be returning. Highly recommended.

Fabulous place to visit to relax and enjoy the views and sounds of nature. Our cabin was clean and comfortable. They offer a petting farm however due to the rain we only visited briefly. We hope to return.

The night before our wedding and the wedding night, we stayed at Heartland Country Resort & Petting Zoo. The rooms are so private, cozy, and accommodating. We had a spa bathtub, cozy robes, a fireplace, and a kitchen. The breakfast in the morning was delicious!!! The communication between the owners and I was fabulous. But the best part? The animals and the petting zoo! The owners are so proud of their place and it shows completely in every little detail and how they want you to be a part of their farm when you stay. 5 stars!!! Can’t wait to go back! Perhaps for our anniversary!?

Let me first give you a little background on my stay. My family and I were scheduled to stay in a state of the art Cabin in hocking hills--- it had it all!!! Luxury getaway at its best. However, following a kitchen fire before we arrived, our reservation was cancelled--- with it being 48 hours before the July 4th weekend, I was in scramble mode. I found one, but quickly learned it was doubled booked. Then...... I found Heartland!!! I thought for sure it would not be available ---I'm sure it would have been if marketing was better as it's truly a hidden gem! If you are looking for perfect luxury or prefer top notch amenities that you you receive at a 5 start resort---this might not be your definition of a getaway---yet, if your in the mood for a soul charging experience, or a peaceful destination that beams undeniable loving energy that surrounds you once you step out of the car---then.... We will be pleased. The minute you arrive, you won't know why.... But you will feel like you arrived home. The staff making you fell like part of the family---- laid back, simple and so down to earth that it will make you wonder why everyone just can't be that way. The atmosphere allowed me to look over the minor imperfections - that I would have otherwise complained out. Yet here...the somewhat rustic, farmhouse like theme added to the overall experience-- being to perfect would have distracted from the the intent of this bed and breakfast. Farm fresh breakfast was amazing and the staff can be as readily a viable if needed or willing to give you as much privacy as you want. I felt alive those 3 days, being one that works mon-Friday in corporate American. I felt humbled, - feeling as though I was transported back in time. A time when things were simpler -- the sound of nature, the feel of fresh air..... Ahhhh. I will be back for now.. I leave recharged, my spirit uplifted by people who offer these getaways but do it for the passion they have- and nothing else.

Thank you so much for your kind review of our resort and your soul changing experience here at Heartland. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay. While we may not have been the owners at the time of your stay, rest assured, we still have that same kind of "family" type feel and passion for allowing our guests to feel rested, relaxed, recharged and their spirits filled when they leave. We have also improved upon some other minor imperfections that you would not have to overlook on your next visit. We've done some minor and major renovations including bringing in treated water in place of the foul smelling well water. We'd love to have you come back for a visit and see for yourself...the best of both worlds!!!

My daughter attended the horse camp at Heartland and so I stayed there with my other daughter and her friend the last night. Our room had two bedrooms and a living/kitchen and one full and one half bath. This was our second visit (her 2nd yr at camp). The first year we asked for breakfast in our room, the 2nd we ate in the common area. Both were really nice. Good breakfast, and service was great. Nearby parks are nice. Drove over to Amish area (about 20-30 mins away) and had some great shopping. My other daughter and friend took a trail ride and loved it.

We visit Heartland Country Resort every few months. The cabin suites are very comfortable and the peaceful rural setting is the perfect place to relax and recharge. It snowed overnight on our last stay and made for a very special stay. The hearty home style breakfast is always a treat.

We booked a last minute getaway for the family and our dog. It was very important that our dog could come with us. Kendra and George were so very welcoming. The breakfast that was included each morning was AMAZING! We have never had such a spread of breakfast foods! We stayed full until dinner! The cabin was cozy and beds were very comfortable. I have noticed quite a bit of comments about the water. It is well water people.... this is the country and the cabin is on a working farm. (Not sure why you would expect different) If you don't mind washing with water that has a bit of an oder, it is fine. Water they have in the kitchen is filtered through the fridge... no worries. We opted to have a dinner prepared one night for us and it was again UNBELIEVABLE! George is an outstanding host and chef! He kept us in stitches. We were able to make our own meals and even do some baking in the kitchen, so that is an option as well.
If you travel here with the understanding that you are staying on a working farm with animals and you love animals... this would be perfect for you! If you are thinking you are going to find luxurious amenities that are comparable to the Ritz, then look elsewhere. My family wanted something down to earth, no frills, quiet, private yet accommodating. Kendra and her husband George were perfect.

We traveled to have a small family reunion. It was very peaceful to gaze upon green fields and listen to birds chirping. There were many places to visit in the surrounding area, but we chose to sit and talk. The meals prepared were absolutely delicious. The children of our families were able to ride horses, feed chickens, GATHER EGGS, change the ducks' water, and play with the delightful children of the owners. (New owners as of a few months ago) There were chairs, porch swings, lounge chairs to sit and converse in small or large gatherings. The whole set up was wonderful in that if one chose to adventure and get dirty during the day, there were wonderful soft beds in which to sleep well at night. Nice soap, shampoo, lovely towels etc. They use well water, which if you have traveled extensively, know has its own odd smell......knowing that, BIG DEAL. The water available to drink was bottled. We arrived bringing our own extra beverages which we kept cold in our own refrigerators. There were large and varied quantities of snack items to purchase in case of a snack attack. What city kids can live a few days within the loving family of Kendra and George and experience a slice of farm life? I am positive that with prior contact with the owners, ANYTHING could be organized. I am the owner of a bed and breakfast in the Galapagos Islands...top quality....but I left this nice property with many good ideas to incorporate into my operation. To repeat: the bedrooms and bathrooms were extremely clean and inviting......we let the kids run the fields and get dirty shoes playing farmer. If you want snooty, perfect, groveling staff; go to the Hilton. If you want a lovely REAL PEOPLE experience, you will enjoy Heartland Country Resort.
