I don't often stay in hotels in the town where I live, but a recent power outage forced me to find local accommodations. EVERY SINGLE staff member I encountered at the Fairlawn Hilton was a complete delight. They were so compassionate about the situation and generous and flexible with accommodating uncertainty about length of stay. The COVID measures in place made us feel safe. I will gladly suggest this Hilton to anyone visiting the greater Akron, OH area for any reason. I experienced real hospitality, not just a hotel room reservation.
We’ve been staying at home since March due to COVID and started traveling for work about 2 months ago. This was a personal trip to hike at Cuyahoga falls. VERY DISAPPOINTED with their lack of adherence to Hilton’s COVID policies. Upon arrival there is a big party happening on floor one with no masks nor social distancing and our room was on floor 1. We asked front desk to give us another room not on floor 1. They have us room on floor 2. Another superspreader event in the hallway of floor 2. Adults and kids partying in the hallway, no masks, doors propped open, chairs in the hallway! When we went to front desk again, she said she was aware and it was a soccer team?! Seriously? Got another room on another floor and got COVID tests when we got home.
We spent the weekend here for a soccer tournament. The rooms were nice and clean. The staff was accommodating & followed the mask rules in place. The pool area was ok inside, the hot tub area was drained & a heartier barrier would be better suited to the 4 drop into the open hole. But we made sure the kids stayed away from that area. This hotel was in a great location for food, shopping and an evening of team bonding.
It does not appear to visitors that there are sanitary measures in place to keep us safe. No social distancing in sight. Pool area was crowded and no one was wiping off tables and chairs. We noticed that some employees were not wearing masks. Our room was not clean. One comforter had red marker all over it and the other had brown stains. There was a wad of black hair in the shower.
Although the crisis made some stuff difficult and I had issue with one staff member, everybody was terrific. The food was outstanding. The have an indoor and outdoor pool with a nice workout room. We stayed while the Rv was worked on.
