My family and I were on a long 25 hour road trip and this hotel was our midway stopping point. After an extremely long day in the car my three children were very excited to swim in the pool, but were very disappointed when we learned that it was closed. In order to avoid a scene, we left to get dinner and do something else before going to bed. When we arrived back at the hotel to go to our room, I went to the front desk to confirm that the crib I had reserved was in fact in the room. At that time I learned from the front desk employee that there are in fact no cribs at your location. I said this was all very surprising to me because I had called two days prior with my confirmation number to reserve one and the person I talked to confirmed that the pool was in fact OPEN and there were DEFINITELY complementary cribs available. I understand that is not an option at every hotel which is why I specifically called to confirm such. Since the specific things that I booked at this hotel were not available to me, I asked to be refunded our money so we could stay down the road where they had said they had complimentary cribs available since we had not even been in the room. I was told that was not an option since a manager would need to approve it but there was in fact NO manager on duty. He also said he could not guarantee me that I would be refunded in the morning by the manager. We decided to stay since I did not want to risk losing money on having to pay for TWO hotel rooms for the night if we went somewhere else. The front desk employee told me I must have called a corporate number, but the number I called is the phone number that pops up when I Google this specific hotel. The greeting States "thanks for calling Wingate by Wyndham Dayton-Fairborn" it also gives the option to speak to the front desk by selecting option 3, giving me the impression that I was in fact speaking to the actual front desk employee of your specific hotel. When I called that number again that night, they told me it was in fact a corporate number but they showed on their end that this hotel still had those amenities listed as available. I have tried calling several times within a few days to reach out to a manager, but have been told every time she is not available. I find it so hard to believe that there is no manager or anybody with the authority to make any sort of resolutions available on a holiday weekend! I have left phone messages and emails asking for some sort of contact with the manager and have received NOTHING!! TERRIBLE SERVICE! WE WOULD NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN OR RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE! …
Pool was closed. And no toilet paper in the room at all. Took 3 requests and a phone call from my husband at home and several hours to get toilet paper brought to the room. The next shift manager finally got us taken care of. Checked out next morning an booked another hotel.
This is a distressed property, old, run down, smelly and dirty. There are greasy smears all over the bathroom, stains on the laundry, and nobody answering the phone. Look at who owns the hotel and you won’t be surprised. Their listings on Hotels.com and TripAdvisor are propped up by employees and friends from their community who have never stayed there. One hand washes the other. They need to do something about lot security and they have a humidity problem in the halls. Gross and unsafe.
Room rates were increased, without explanation or forwarning during the stay. Staff were cordial and professional throughout. Cleanliness was great. Amenities were greatly curtailed due to COVID restrictions, and should have caused a rate reduction rather than an increase.
This hotel is just had 2 thing wrong with it the beds were old and worn down . And the temperature control wasn’t great we set the room at 72. And we were all sweating horribly . Had to set the ac down to 65 to cool it off the just shut the unit down ..
