We just left from our stay at The White Oak Inn. It is a very lovely bed and breakfast and we really enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was always wonderful. You have an option of 8:30 or 9:30am breakfast time (or a continental breakfast delivered to your room). There was always an abundance of coffee, and tea as your hot drink and a good selection of juices, water or milk. The breakfast has more than enough food to fuel you for the day. You start with a dish of fresh fruit, followed by muffins straight out of the oven, and the option of a sweet or savory breakfast, or a little of both. The granola raisin muffins were amazing, and Yvonne was kind enough to share the recipe with me! The atmosphere was very welcoming. We stayed in the main house on the 2nd floor. Our room was very nice. The TV was small, but I feel if it were any bigger, it would have taken away from the beautiful furniture and setting of the room. IF you have to have constant internet access, the internet is the only thing to we aware of. We had enough service with the guest wifi to check email and send text messages, but you won't have a strong enough signal to do much more than that. I am in no way complaining, and I feel it allowed me and my husband the time to truly enjoy our time together and not be so distracted with our phones. We had a wonderful experience and plan in going back.

The Inn is set on a very quiet road with pleasant views across a river and fields with hills in the distance and is several miles away from town and services. Owners Yvonne and Ian seem like nice people and answered our questions. We stayed in the main house in the Walnut room. The bedroom as well as common rooms were very clean and neat. Extra towels, sheets, blankets were available in a cupboard in the hallway outside our room. There is a very small shared frig in the hallway for use by all guests. VERY small TV screen in our room (too small to watch from the bed). Room size was adequate but seating was not comfortable. Bathroom was adequate but quite cramped. Bed was too soft for our comfort. Nice to be able to sit in the downstairs living room to read. We were able to reschedule the time for our basket dinner to 6:30 instead of 7 and we were permitted to eat our basket dinner in the dining room. Fruit and cheese plate for another evening were very convenient and ready when promised. Breakfast at 8:30 was served about 8:45 both mornings. Food was good. Sadly, coffee wasn't ready until about 8:15, and there is no other way to get/make coffee or tea (unless we drove somewhere to get it). Suggest adding a coffee machine so guests can make their own when they want it. Overall I would classify the White Oak Inn as a clean, quiet, no-frills B&B.

Not at all what we expected. The rug was worn out in places, and the room felt shoddy, old linoleum on the bathroom floor, fixtures and shower were dated. There was not full wifi in the main house (none in the cottage). Couldn't make calls out. The breakfast was good. We left after one night after having reserved and paid for two, in spite of losing a lot. The room was advertised and priced as if it were a more up to date.

We had another great visit to The White Oak Inn. We are never disappointed when we get away from it all to The White Oak Inn. Always great food from their gourmet chef Yvonne. Always beautify presented. The guest house is our favorite place to stay. We even got to bring our Scotty, Cooper, with us. We enjoy checking out the wineries in the area. Never get them all in in a weekend. Everything is as always super clean and fun to get away to quiet relaxation.

My instinct told me this wasn't going well with the first phone call but sorry to say, I didn't listen. First impression is so important and for us it didn't go well. The smell was very obvious as we stepped through the door and it only got worse as we settled in our room, it was bad enough I wondered if we could endure, we say the room smelled like a dirty old cat litter box. We opened 3 windows and turned on 2 fans but that didn't remove the smell. The room was extremely small with just barely a walk around the bed, one hard chair was available, and we had to search the hall for another chair which made the room even tighter. Our impression is the host are tired and should retire, they were not welcoming or gracious and we felt like intruders and if we asked for something we felt we were being rude guest. The bedroom wasn't vacuumed well and the hallway and stairs were very dirty, plus we can only imagine the dog and cat hair as the animals wondered around the dining room and other areas. I would definitely say the food was not worth the value either! Do not expect any wifi in your rooms and very little in the main room. Leave your smart phone in the vehicles! Needless to say we were very happy to be on our way and do not plan to return, We're very experienced at B&B but no thank you on White Oak Inn.

We had a wonderful experience & the owners are great! We were able to take our dog & she loved it too. It was very peaceful, breakfast was so healthy & delicious. We were served a four course meal that was also amazing. We were able to relax & not worry about anything. We rode to Berlin & shopped. We will be back!

Thank you. We do love having four-legged guests at the inn and our two pet-friendly guesthouse rooms make it so easy for people to take their dogs in and out whenever they want. Next time you need to be sure to check out Good Boy Dog Bakery at nearby Roscoe Village. Our own dog loves their home-made dog treats.

Excellent stay. My husband booked this trip for me as a respite stay and it met all the standards and then some. From delicious home-made breakfasts, to top-notch linens with a cozy atmosphere what else can I say. I feel blessed to have found this place when it was exactly what I needed. The White Oak Inn has excellent reviews and very happy clients and I can see why. The inn keepers are professional and really enjoy what they do. The bed was so comfortable I had to set an alarm when I napped. I could not recommend a better trip if you are riding as a couple, solo or girls weekend. Its close to Amish country, and also nearby Mt. Vernon (if you are need of shopping on a Sunday). The drive in either direction was beautiful and what else can I say. They are a dog and kitty cat that are always roaming around, and as an animal lover myself, it made me feel so at home. I was able to work on some reports downstairs in the den with my laptop and had no issue with WIFI. It was so quiet so I was also able to catch up on so much reading. This is exactly what you need if you are in need of a quiet, restful, romantic and cozy stay. I'm looking forward to booking the cabin with my husband soon! Just go!

Thank you so much. We are blessed to live in such a beautiful area and even though the inn itself is in a quiet rural valley, there are so many things nearby for our guests to do. I hope you discovered Paragraph's bookstore and Stein Brewing while you were in Mount Vernon.

We just stayed with some friends and it was amazing as usual. The place is just so cozy feeling, the Innkeepers are the best ever. When they get done if you want they will sit and talk with you, share some wine. We have gone at least 8 times for sure and we are never disappointed other than its time to go home. I would highly recommend it to any couple who wants to get away and really be pampered. The food is just totally awesome. Of course if you don't want to hang around the Inn there is wineries, Amish country and much more to do. They will gladly tell you where things are and how to get there. It is the BEST ever!!!!

While booking a stay at White Oak Inn online I had a question so I contacted the inn directly. Yvonne promptly gave a recommendation, which was appreciated. However, without explaining that a disability prevented me from taking advantage of her suggestion, I declined her offer. At that point her tone became rude and argumentative. She challenged my travel plans as well as my knowledge of the area. My husband, who happens to be a travel editor, arranged a lovely stay for me elsewhere.

I am very sorry that this person took something I said in a manner that wasn't intended. I have no recollection of a conversation with this tone, and as all our other reviews indicate, most of our guests do appreciate our suggestions for things to see and do in the area. There are many delightful places to stay in Ohio's Amish country and I'm glad this guest found one that was to their liking.

My wife and I wanted to spend a couple days in Amish Country and desired a small, scenic bed & breakfast. The While Oak Inn met ALL of our expectations. Nice, quite room, good breakfast, excellent staff. The other guests also proved interesting to talk to the weekend we were there. We will recommend to others.

Thank you. We generally find our guests appreciate being a bit "off the beaten path" away from the traffic and crowds in Amish country on a weekend.
