    Very disappointed
We expected a luxury hotel, with all the usual amenities. Yet, due to the pandemic, we were disappointed. The hotel had turned off all ice machines, removed all hair dryers, soaps, shampoos and extra toilet tissue from every room due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They did make all of these items available if asked. Guests had to go down to the front desk to get them. It would have been helpful if the hotel had emailed all guests about this, so that we could have brought our own.

    Different. Enjoyed the room
Spending 150+ nights on the road a year it’s nice to stay in something different. My room on 6th floor wasn’t overly huge. It was quaint. The bathroom had a nice rain shower head in it with quick hot water. TV was right there on the wall at foot of bed and not in some odd location. I appreciated all that the amenities offered. I do wish one thing though, might seem a little contradictory, but some hotels have fresh fruit out for your enjoyment. That’s a great snack. And also, I wish they had drink machines on the upper floors to grab that morning caffeine.

    Over night visit to Columbus
First, when you walk in the door you will be struck by the beautiful lobby. I have to say the staff at check in are flawless and incredibly welcoming. I give check in 5 out of 5 stars. Yes, the rooms are small and the bathroom vanity table was certainly lacking space to set your toiletries. It would have been really cramped if I was sharing the room. On the upside, the bed was very comfortable and even though the room faces High Street the noise level was not bad. The only hiccup I had was the in room coffee bar was lacking regular coffee. Not a fun discovery at 6am. However I was able to get dressed and go down to the lobby for a cup of coffee. So overall, my experience was really good and I would definitely stay here again.

Nice location, good rate, attractive common areas, Bonvoy Platinum Upgrade: all on plus side. Everything else went south. Particularly rooms with tiny old bathrooms and antiquated A/C system that was loud and just not good. On top of this, hence, the score A/C stopped working all along the second night. The temp went up to 77-78F, and they couldn't fix it without resetting it. Mine wasn't the only room with the problem. I ended up not being able to sleep properly at all. To be objective, hotel staff volunteered to refund the second night stay with apology. That was appreciated, but I would rather pay and get good night sleep, of course. I wish I can give a better rating.

The room was very dirty and outdated. Parking prices were ridiculous. Over $20 every time I went in and out over the weekend. We ordered breakfast 2 mornings and the food was not that great. If you can stay somewhere else, you should. The room prices were high considering what they looked like. They keep the lobby clean, but the rooms are another story.

I’m just a regular guy. I don’t make a lot of money, I’m a Paramedic. So, when I spend my hard earned money, I expect to get value for what I am spending. I did not get this when checking into this hotel. I have to say, the staff were friendly enough and for those who follow me know I’m really focused in on people who don’t take any pride in what the do. But this place, I can see what they like what they do. For example, I ordered room service: Ground beef (forgot it at the last hotel for my best friend Winnie) Pasta dish And 2 double shot Gin and Tonics ( it’s been a rough day and I won’t bother you with the details) Total cost $158…. Shock! They had already added a $25 gratuity to the bill (and I gave the delivery boy $10 cash on top of that) Our room was only $189! Oh, and parking is $20. Not even per day, but each time you went out and back in again. I give this place a 3 of 5 stars because the staff was awesome, but not any more due to the over inflated prices and the surprise I which I discovered too late. Beware!

Response from Ameer Abdul, Guest Services / Front Office at The Westin Great Southern Columbus
Responded Apr 9, 2023
Dear Jay N, First and foremost, thank you for your service. Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience with us. It is through guest feedback that we are able to improve upon the dining and overall guest experience provided to our guests. You brought to my attention that during your recent stay, we fell short of meeting your expectations while dining in the Bar Cicchetti. Your experience has been shared with the Restaurant Manager who joins me in offering not only our sincere apologies for the team’s shortcomings, but our commitment to resolving these issues in order to improve the dining experience in the future. Although we fell short of meeting your expectations during your stay, I hope you will consider our hotel on your next visit to the area so that we can deliver on the guest experience you deserve. Sincerely, Ameer A Director of Operations

This hotel does not live up to the Westin name. The positives: The lobby is nice and the hotel restaurant has decent food, although slow service. The negatives: Front desk staff is rude and disinterested in providing quality customer service. As I approached the front desk, the woman behind counter looked at me, then disappeared into the back. I got tired of waiting to check in so I just went to the restaurant for some food before going back. I also had a negative experience when asking for the nearest pharmacy. I was given a bunch of street names, but not knowing the area, I asked which way to go, left or right, out the front door. This apparently flustered the clerk who let out an audible sigh before answering me. We reserved a suite, which was absolutely terrible. The room was very outdated with minimal furnishings in the sitting area. The bathroom was dirty and moldy and the bathtub didn’t drain well, so you had to stand in dirty water while showering. We were only there a night so we didn’t bother asking for another room, but we will NEVER return to this hotel and do not recommend it to anyone.

The public spaces in this hotel are really beautiful. I had been here for several weddings but never stayed since I used to live in Columbus and have since moved. The lobby bar is nice and has good meals during the day. We paid a LOT for this room and were disappointed that it wasn't a bit nicer. Upon check-in we realized that the prices were probably jacked up for the Arnold Classic taking place at the same time. The room was OK, but the bathroom was small. Staff is friendly and the rooms are clean. Location is right downtown--although on the southern end--close to Brewery District, German Village, and a bit of a further walk to Arena District and Short North.

Westin hotel in Columbus was literally a lifesaver for our college-age son who was trying to travel across country. A million thank yous to Samantha for helping get my son check into a room when he was completely abandoned by Greyhound bus line on December 23rd&24th in Columbus due to the “bomb cyclone” storm. Then Brad and the rest of the team at the hotel were there to help him stay safe and keep sheltered. We are so grateful for the professionalism, kindness and incredible responsiveness of Sam, Brad and all. Very grateful parents in San Diego California.

Our second stay at this stunning piece of history was as pleasant as the first. A downtown architectural gem that is the oldest Columbus hotel, the small rooms and public spaces are well-appointed and maintained. Visit the stained glass-lined ballroom, location of President McKinley’s inaugural ball. Helpful and friendly staff. Great central location with reasonable parking. We will be back!

The hotel is historic and looks nice but to stay here for work, and try to do work in the room, just doesn't make it. You don't have a desk but a table next to the couch. Due to the small size of this room, one has to constantly move their luggage around. Fortunately I was by myself. The staff was good. Finally, the TV selection is just fair as almost all stations offered have commercials and only 2 "premium stations"

Dear Z4109XKmarkg, Thank you for taking the time to share your honest feedback from your recent stay with us. I sincerely apologize to hear of your recent experience while staying with us. As I understand some of our rooms are limited space due to the historic designs of the building- we do have larger rooms as well that do accommodate desks and much more space to move around. In addition, yes our TV selection is quite fair, however, we are excited to share that we are preparing to upgrade our TV's with streaming capabilities within the next week or two, to provide more personalized entertainment for our valued guests! Honest feedback like yours, helps our team address and improve our guest experience for present and future guests. We really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, we hope to welcome you back to our hotel again soon! Sincerely, Ameer A Director of Operations

I had the best experience last week! Charles Warren and Haji Komilov are the friendliest, most attentive desk managers. They were honest and helpful and went above and beyond to guide me to local sites and markets. I had a room with a park view. It was large and well-appointed. It looked newly remodeled and everything in it was brand new. The entire hotel looked as if it had just been remodeled. Nice bathrooms with plenty of hot water with good pressure. Also, Bar Cicchetti, attached to the hotel, is one of the best restaurants I have dined in. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Even the coffee was good! I stayed at the Hotel Le Veque the last time I was in Columbus. They have a good restaurant, but it wasn't as good as Bar Cicchetti. I will return to The Westin Columbus the next time I visit my family. Thank you!
