I was staying at the renaissance hotel in Cleveland. I chose this hotel because it carried a 4 star rating even though I was receiving it at a discounted price. Hotel towels are never the cleanest but man. I was surprised that someone actually took the time to fold a bloody face towel and neatly place it on the sink. When I addressed the front desk clerk who stated that he was the manager, he acted as if it wasn't an issue. He said I could have just called down for new towels 🤔. I asked if I could get an upgraded room or a free breakfast for my inconvenience due to the fact that it was supposed to be a 4 star rating. He eventually said he would offer the breakfast and it would be on my room key. He said I could call down in the morning and tell the clerk my order. I then asked to receive a pack n play for my 6 month old daughter, he said it would be right up. After not receiving the item for over 6 or 7 hours I called down to the front desk and asked for one again. I finally received it about 11 p.m. and I had to assemble it myself and when I did it was dusty and dirty, also they didn't even bring her any blankets or sheets to lay on. I called this morning to let the front door clerk know and to order breakfast and he didn't really want to accommodate me but he did offer the free breakfast that turned out not to be on my room key anyway 😡. I just feel like I'm no longer letting these big businesses get away with treating us like our money or our voices don't mean anything. They have to be held accountable. I am not allowing them to mistreat me. Please explain whether you agree with me or the hotel…
Where to start. Well the entire hotel smelled like weed. In the halls, in our room, in the elevator. I asked about it and they said they had police and security patrolling to stop people from smoking in the hotel. In our first room which faced the town square on the 9th floor, some of the lamps didn’t work, the towels had stains and while the view was fine there was a constant loud beeping coming from the cross walk in the public square. It literally never stopped and really disrupted our sleep. We changed rooms easily, thankfully, to a room that faced the atrium and was much quieter. Same weed stench, same dirty towels, just overall run down and gross. Also in the next room there was no way to charge your phone next to the bed. And finally, there was BLOOD on the blanket. I requested a fresh clean one that never came. I slept with the sheet only. I would never go back.…
The winter lights pictures were taken from room 724. Jack Casino is the former Higbees Department store from the movie Christmas Story. Awesome historic hotel on Public Square in downtown Cleveland, Ohio. One complaint, they need to add free internet. Because I am a native of the Cleveland area and realize that this hotel is important to Cleveland I do not want to give a bad review based on the lack of free internet. The holiday decorations were impressive.
My workplace books my stays. 1 December the heater did not work. Room about 52F. Got upgraded to a suite which could be warmed to 68F in one corner while the bathroom was in the high 40's or lower 50's. Everyone can have one bad day. On 14 December a group of about 25 homeless people had moved into the lower lobby to stay warm. One young lady was working behind a shield and was clearly unable to take on the crowd. Non guests can't access the rooms, but not that they would want to because the decrepit old building LOST ALL WATER PRESSURE; no toilets, no showers, constructive eviction. The homeless people left, probably to find a better building. I write few 1 star reviews, but this place shouldn't exist.
Because of Covid, access from the parking structure was difficult and there is very little space to pull up in front of the hotel to drop off bags. The beds were comfy and we did like the fact that you had easy control of heating and cooling. The rooms were a bit small. Fortunately the rooms were quiet and we got a good night's sleep. The staff was helpful offering good suggestions for dining near the hotel. The were very good about ordering breakfast and pick up at the front desk.(due to Covid). This is a a good location if you need to be in the center of downtown.
