Arrived on Saturday late morning and after check-in, went to bar/ lounge area for lunch. The hotel lobby was slammed, many events going on in Cleveland and told hotel was booked solid. John, the bartender, was by himself and required to make drinks, take food orders for customers sitting at bar and service tables in lounge as well. Most upsetting was he was also required to run food from kitchen, forcing him to physically leave the lounge. At one point, there were over 20 people, requesting service. It became so disconcerting and uncomfortable for us watching John trying to do his best in an impossible situation, my wife left to go to check-in area to speak with manager. To her surprise, no one could give a name to or had even seen manager on duty. She was told Director of Operations was somewhere and given name. Management - how can you disrespect and throw your employees under the bus like this? Knowing hotel was fully occupied, schedule enough personnel. If someone didn't show for shift, Manager/Director of Operations, come out of your office, roll up your sleeves and lend some support. Many thanks John!! As an aside, our drinks and food were very good. Our room was clean and comfortable.

Overall a good experience. Parking/valet is cramped but overall efficient and valet attendants good. We were pleasantly surprised with offer to upgrade to a suite. Room is dated but clean and comfortable. We had an inside room so windows looked into an atrium which was sort of dark. Location was great to walk to a number of great restaurants. There was some homelessness presence to navigate but it felt safe. It is connected to Jack casino but we did not go there. We would definitely go again- it is walking distance to baseball and football stadiums.

I was born and raised in Cleveland, so it pains me to say that this landmark hotel was so disappointing. I remember visiting the Terminal Tower as a kid and walking in the lobby of the old Stouffer's, now the Renaissance hotel. It was total opulence. I've been living on the East Coast for 25 years and came back to Cleveland with my family and booked this hotel as a treat. Unfortunately, it has gone downhill quite a bit. First, the a/c in our room did not work properly. They sent an engineer to our room who informed us that one of the two units on the roof that manages the a/c was broken and wouldn't be fixed for a couple of weeks. He said switching rooms wouldn't solve the problem. He was very nice and brought us a fan. It took three hours for the temp to drop 5 degrees to 73. On top of that, there were cobwebs, spiders, old tile, and a brown stain on one of the bath towels (so gross). The comforters on the beds looked so old they were greyish instead of white, and they were just sandwiched between two sheets. Honestly, the whole place just seemed dirty and skieved us out. The one positive is the staff were very nice. But we will not be staying here again.

Dear LauraYD32, Thank you for your review. Unfortunately we did experience issues with the A/C during your stay. We worked very hard to get it back to normal as soon as possible and I apologize for any inconvenience the issue may have caused. I appreciate your kind works regarding the staff. With a historic property, sometimes we do experience an issue or two but we try to make up for any of those issues with great service. We would love to see you again if you make it back to Cleveland.

Love this historic nature however needs upgrades to stay current. Fitness is awful, dirty and half of all equipment isn’t working. The needs of today’s business traveler with outlets that are operational in rooms for example. Hotel itself is cool and beds are comfortable.

This hotel is situated in Public Square and is walking distance to just about everthing in downtown Cleveland. The rooms may be considered a little dated by some, but I have no issues with them at all.. Staff is phenominal. I stay here every month for business.
