My husband, son and I hadn't been to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in several years but more than that we had never spent the night in Cleveland. If we went to a game or someplace else we would just drive up for the day and then drive home. After doing some research on line and discussing different... More

This was a mother-in-law buckle list trip as she wanted to see the Beach Boys in concert. We had the outside entry - Madison Apartment Suite which worked well and well able to securely park in the drive leading to this entrance. The location is within walking distance of Jacobs Pavilion Nautica though now I recommend a taxi or Uber,... More

We stayed at the Clifford House for our 40th Anniversary trip by researching it on the internet. It turned out to be even lovelier than I imagined. The room was spacious yet cozy (we stayed in the Schneider Suite on the third floor). The bed was very comfortable, and the sheets exquisite! We appreciated lots of well-placed extension cords for... Jim, the owner of Clifford House, knows how to make people feel invited and is a great breakfast cook. He is also very knowledgeable of the area. His two animals are awesome. The parking was also quite easy. A great stay.

Great location- Jim, the owner, is warm, friendly, and funny! He knows Cleveland and he knows the history of the neighborhood. The house is beautiful. Breakfast was fantastic, the bed was comfy, and it could not have been a better experience. The house is great for couples, friends, families. We will be back. Ernie Joy and Ericha Fryfogle

This was by far my favorite stay in Cleveland. Had I planned better (known better) we would have forgone the fancy downtown hotel. Ohio city is an awesome neighborhood. Jim is a perfect host - good cook, welcoming and a sense of humor. No, this house isn't perfect. But it is an amazing work in progress. When we go back... More

My sweetie and I are making it our mission to visit a many b&bs as we can, and I'm so happy we got to stay at Clifford House! Jim, our fabulous inkeeper, was a delight. :) His charming home (and adorable house-pets Sherlock and Wesley) were exactly what we were looking for. We especially enjoyed sitting on the porch swing,... More

For starters, my wife and I have been to over 80 countries as a couple. We have stayed at some great places and some not so great places. When I found this B&B on the Internet and compared the price to all of those huge corporate hotels in downtown Cleveland, there really was no choice. That was a wise decision.... More

I think with tax we paid around 175, which is great considering the very awesome top floor room and excellent breakfast. Sherlock the hound is a fun addition to the experience, and is super friendly and playful. You can walk from there to the Great Lakes Brewery and Mitchells ice cream, and I highly suggest both. There are tons of... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome! I offer a charming "Private Home" place to stay at a reasonable price, handy to everything. Described as nice, casual, eclectic and more European B&B style because I live here; I work here. The guest rooms nice and tidy; the common areas organized and a little lived in at times. A perfect location In the heart of an urban, historic, trendy neighborhood across the river from downtown. In walking distance to nationally acclaimed locally owned restaurants and breweries. Walk to buses, train, the Cleveland Indians! Guest have walked to their conferences downtown. I have one cat, Wesley, and one dog, Sherlock; both guest certified, exceptional pets. The home is professionally cleaned by three housekeepers: Hollywood, Michelle and Debbie. Ironed sheets and well made beds are noted. Howard maintains the landscaping. My private home and leased apartment since 1992 became Clifford House B&B in 1996. It evolved room by room: the Schneider Suite first, the Withington Room next and finally the Madison Apt Suite. Started on a shoestring budget after some corporate downsizing, there are still and always will be ongoing upgrades and improvements. It's never done! I like to collect stuff: new, used, consignment... And everything has it's story. The guests have their story and become part the story. ... more   less
