We weren't expecting such unique hotel rooms when staying at a Holiday Inn Express. The rooms were large with high ceilings and didn't feel like your average hotel room. Unfortunately, as soon as we entered the room we were hit with a potent citrus disinfectant smell that felt like it may be masking something else. The smell was not indicative of adequate cleaning as our photos demonstrate... the bathroom was gross. It also had a faucet so small that you could barely wash your hands. Finally, the shower curtain was coming out of the wall, so there was no way to keep it fully closed. The main room itself felt fine, but the bathroom made us question the cleanliness. Overall, it got the job done, but we will likely look elsewhere next time.

The hotel is interesting. The rooms are really big. The staff is pretty helpful and super polite (especially if you tip). But I had a pretty stupid interaction with the night security guy. He apparently silently watched me try to get help from the front desk girl then barked at me “You don’t go back there!” After I leaned around the desk to yell into the back offices where the front desk girl was. He was dressed in a flack jacket too which seems kinda heavy handed for a Holliday Inn. He then sauntered outside without saying another word. Real power trippy.

Hi GuestinJuly2021, Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for posting a candid review. I was very concerned to read your comments regarding the security guard. I understand your dismay and I am sorry. This is not the frictionless experience that we wanted for all our guests. I will make sure to share your comments with our team for the necessary improvements needed on our end. I appreciate you as our guest and I still hope you would give us another chance in the future. One star for friendly staff, one for walkability. Otherwise it’s awful & I will never stay here again. The historic charm of the building is lost amongst peeling, dark, hollow-core doors with broken locks that haven’t been updated since 1980, elevators that literally cave in on the sides allowing no more than two people to stand comfortably, black-out drapes that close with a four-inch gap in the middle, a “clean” television remote that has fingerprints on it, splatters of something dark on the bathroom wall, and the pervasive, nearly non-stop reek of weed that is in the elevator, the hallway, and has seeped into our room. Two nights were too many, and I recommend you spend your money elsewhere.

Our stay was going well until our air conditioning stopped working. Had maintenance check it out on 3 occasions with no success. Our room stayed hot the entire time with no recommendations from staff or resolution, which left my family of 4 hot for 2 nights in a row with no resolution. Will not recommend nor stay with them in the future. Do yourself a favor and find another hotel in the downtown area. I will also be calling corporate as well. I found out this is not the first complaint about the AC not working over a weeks timeframe.

The Hotel was beautiful although I would have liked to have had more privacy between rooms in our suite, especially since we had our granddaughters with us. The location was perfect and the Staff was Great. Alyssa was at the Front Desk when we checked in and she was so polite and friendly, When we had problems with our Key, Chris came right up to the room to bring another key. Then the refrigerator wasn't working and once again Chris immediately came right up with another Frig, he was such a kind young man. And at check out Shonte' was a Sweetie also. I would choose this hotel again but maybe without the granddaughters. Oh I almost forgot about Mary who worked the breakfast, she took really good care of us as well.
