So nice, we stayed an extra night... The atmosphere and the fact that it was break from the 'McStandard' chain hotels. From the moment we laid eyes on the place we fell in love. And for every step we took inside, there was something to love and appreciate. It reminded me of a place I imagined in an Agatha Christie novel. Located in University Circle, it's just minutes away by walking, to some of the most beautiful buildings and museums as well as Little Italy and other areas with a great selection of restaurants. The Historical Glidden House is by far, one of the best places I have had the privilege of staying. It would kill me if this place was ever taken over by a chain hotel.

I have wanted to stay at the Glidden house for many years, used to go to a restaurant called Sergio’s there which was absolutely superb years ago ,but it had closed due to the owner passing away. Finally on my last trip to Cleveland, I booked a room there last night. What a wonderful place. Now I am very used to the newer contemporary Marble and glass type hotels when I travel, which most of them are very nice, but this one took me back to what felt like the 1920s or 30s elegance. It was beautiful for that reason, I felt so comfortable, just like slipping into a wonderful outfit that you’ve had for years. It was supposedly the mansion house of the Glidden paint family. Now the furniture and ambience is not modern .it is definitely more refined period. , but I think the place presents itself beautifully. My room was very nice, had a bit of trouble trying to figure out the new faucets installed but water pressure was wonderful and the renovated bathroom looks great. The building and grounds are absolutely beautiful and it’s really in a nice area in the cultural and university district. The breakfast ( free, and included!) was fabulous, I wonder who their pastry chef is ,they’re very talented, the food was absolutely delicious and full of great variety, and the lady attending to everything ,as well as even picking up my place setting was the sweetest nicest lady, whom ever she was, make sure to tip for such wonderful service. Parking is very inexpensive at $12 and you can just go in and out as you need to. I strongly recommend this place, in fact I can’t wait to come back to Cleveland next time and I’ll forgo the downtown glass hotels and I want to book here again. I didn’t even know hotels like this existed much anymore, It just made me feel that life was wonderful again, what a gem! Thank you Glidden house and all of the very wonderful employees.

I enjoyed my stay here. What's not to like? It's a beautiful historic building located in the heart of University Circle, with tasteful classical decor, nice staff and good facilities. It's everything Fawlty Towers should have been and is as well presented as you'd expect. In some ways it's not as impressive as other upscale hotels such as the Four Seasons but in other ways, it outdoes them - such for charm. There was a wedding going on (what a great choice of venue!) but it meant the breakfast buffet was consumed as if by ravenous hordes. I did manage to get a small plate of leftover scrambled eggs with a piece of sausage and bacon, so please don't cry for me Argentina.

I scoured ALL Cleveland area hotel websites and reviews for affordability, location, amenities, value, comfort, and ambience…landed on Glidden House over and again. It’s a charming place with the public spaces in the historic home itself and most of the guest rooms in a more modern 3-story connected addition. Self-parking is an unbelievably low of just $12 per night! We’ve stayed in many “resort” hotels, and in my opinion a room is just a room - must have comfy beds, nice TV, & a spotless bathroom. The beds at Glidden House are super comfy with quality sheets, perfect weight blanket & light topper, and plenty of puffy pillows. Water pressure in 3rd floor bath seemed a tad weak, but shower and toilet worked fine. I’d like to see nicer and larger towels, but toiletries were great. When guests stay more than two nights, I’d also like a towel exchange as a standard offering, but extras are available upon request. The BEST part of Glidden is the people, public areas, location, and breakfast! Super friendly folks (we especially enjoyed concierge James), the property is on the edge of Case Western campus with lots of trees, shrubs, and flowers, and the grounds feels like an extension of a historic neighborhood. The cozy counter-type bar is hosted each evening and a great spot for a drink and quiet conversation indoors or on the lovely garden patio right outside. The artwork, woodwork, and fixtures have interest and historic charm. The breakfast is wonderful! Full array and daily variety of juices, coffee/tea, pastries, eggs, meats, hot cereal, and more with lovely china and flatware to enjoy in the study or sunroom. Table signs invite non-guests to enjoy the meal for a very small charge plus tax and gratuity which is less than breakfast at any chain breakfast place. Little Italy is about a half-mile walk down the same street, and we also enjoyed a free Wednesday summer lawn concert at Wade Oval about 1/4 mile the other direction. Considered part of Uptown, the hotel itself is within 20 minutes of every part of Cleveland we visited - airport, Edgewater Park on Lake Erie, downtown, and the Christmas Story House. Highly recommended as BEST OVERALL!

A former industrialist's home (Glidden paint), this lovely property appears on the National Register of Historic Places. Our selection criteria: on-site parking (at additional cost), free breakfast (the buffet in the sun room was exceptional), and great location. Not only is Glidden a 5 minute walk from the Cleveland Art Museum, its location next to Case Western University means it is near many small moderately priced restaurants established to accommodate the students. We spent two nights and enjoyed our stay.

Nice property in a very nice location for walking to museums and Little Italy for dinner. The hotel has a really nice breakfast and a bar that is open after 4pm. I would not recommend the suite in the older section. Unfortunately, I do not remember the room number. The suite had very little light and you have to walk up 3 stairs and that can be an issue for some people.

Great location on CWRU campus. We have stayed here at least five times. Too bad they don’t have a frequent stay program. Friendly and efficient front desk and reservation staff. I always book directly with the hotel as it offers the most flexibility. Easy, safe and convenient parking. Newly renovated rooms. Now with mini fridge and a long cushioned bench for “stuff” or sitting. We prefer the ones facing the courtyard or the street but the ones facing south maybe quieter. Beds are too soft for our taste but that’s a personal preference. Breakfast is back to its former glory. The sugared waffles are addictive. Now they also have cinnamon rolls. Coffee is always hot and fresh. We always enjoy taking our time sitting in the sunroom and are never hurried by the staff. House keeping doesn’t come in during our stay unless requested, which is fine with us. Not your cookie cutter hotel.

Case Western Parents...thought you had a reserved spot for your kids graduation???? Wrong!!! The waiting list has been scrapped! We had been on this list for almost 3 years and they no longer use it and we were not notified. New policy is now 52 weeks before grad. So we lost our seniority. Sad. New parking charge is $13/ night. Fruit flies at breakfast. No bacon. Powdered eggs, lukewarm coffee, had to ask to have music turned on, breakfast servers sitting at self serve station watching what you take, dry sausage patties, sweet potatoes instead of regular potatoes...yuk. On a positive, the bluberry scones are still amazing, but thats about it. f you have never stayed here before, you probably would not notice anything amiss and atmosphere has diminished. I feel maybe management/ ownership has changed, not for the better. I've had better breakfast at a Holiday Inn or Best Western. We are truly disappointed in Glidden house

Dear ronc, We are sorry about the miscommunication with the graduation wait list. We have streamlined the process for making reservations over graduation weekend as our wait list each year became overwhelming and difficult to manage. We have had very positive feedback regarding the reservation process this year. We are also sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your complimentary breakfast experience. We try to change the buffet slightly each day with regard to our offerings so that our guests have a bit of variety during a multiple night stay. We will review your comments with our food and beverage team and make any necessary adjustments to our operation.

The Glidden House was an amazing place to stay. The front desk was very helpful, especially considering there was severe weather in the area. The beds were super comfortable. The breakfast was out of this world delicious. I would definitely stay there again if I was in the area.

Great location for the university and Cleveland Museum of Art. But, the hotel is a little dated. Room was not ready until after 5pm as only one housekeeper on duty. Room was a little old fashioned with a very noisy heating unit that would keep anyone awake if it were on at night. Breakfast was a buffet but a little rough and ready. Friendly staff.
