We have stayed at the Glidden house many times in the last few years and it is getting better and better, as it goes through some needed renovations.

We stayed in a suite for the first time. As they are renovating the first-floor hallway and when we complained about the paint odor, we were switched to a suite. The suite is well furnished and pleasantly decorated, consisting of a separate living room with a fold-out sofas, separate armchairs, ottomans and a writing desk, along with a wet bar area with microwave and mini-fridge. The bedroom has an additional armchair by a window with an ottoman. Plenty of comfortable chairs, and nice artwork to look at. As this is a third-floor suite, most of the light came from dormers on all three sides. In contrast to the regular bedrooms, there is a walk-in shower.

Breakfast is even better than before, with a good selection of pastries, several hot items and fruits. I have been told that the breakfast was "glorious" before the pandemic. Not sure if it has gotten back to that "glorious" state.

As always, the staff is friendly and helpful. The location is convenient to all the museums and parking is also very convenient. Would love to see the hotel open an on-site restaurant.

The only downside to the Glidden House is that as it gets better and better, reservations are getting harder and harder to get.

I have wanted to stay at the Glidden house for many years, used to go to a restaurant called Sergio’s there which was absolutely superb years ago ,but it had closed due to the owner passing away. Finally on my last trip to Cleveland, I booked a room there last night. What a wonderful place. Now I am very used to the newer contemporary Marble and glass type hotels when I travel, which most of them are very nice, but this one took me back to what felt like the 1920s or 30s elegance. It was beautiful for that reason, I felt so comfortable, just like slipping into a wonderful outfit that you’ve had for years. It was supposedly the mansion house of the Glidden paint family. Now the furniture and ambience is not modern .it is definitely more refined period. , but I think the place presents itself beautifully. My room was very nice, had a bit of trouble trying to figure out the new faucets installed but water pressure was wonderful and the renovated bathroom looks great. The building and grounds are absolutely beautiful and it’s really in a nice area in the cultural and university district. The breakfast ( free, and included!) was fabulous, I wonder who their pastry chef is ,they’re very talented, the food was absolutely delicious and full of great variety, and the lady attending to everything ,as well as even picking up my place setting was the sweetest nicest lady, whom ever she was, make sure to tip for such wonderful service. Parking is very inexpensive at $12 and you can just go in and out as you need to. I strongly recommend this place, in fact I can’t wait to come back to Cleveland next time and I’ll forgo the downtown glass hotels and I want to book here again. I didn’t even know hotels like this existed much anymore, It just made me feel that life was wonderful again, what a gem! Thank you Glidden house and all of the very wonderful employees.

We went to Cleveland to stay at the Glidden House and to go to dinner at l’albotros, a great French restaurant just a short walk from the hotel. We like doing this so much that this was our fourth time. We’ve never been disappointed. This visit was a celebration of my wife’s birthday.

The hotel is an expansion of the original house and is very much like other contemporary hotels. The bed was really comfortable and all the pillows were helpful. Access to the room was easy as each end of the hallway is very convenient. The elevator was slow, but you can only go so far in a two story building.

Breakfast is the highlight of one’s stay here. There are a lot of choices and there is plenty to go around. The staff does a very good job of keeping things organized and pretty fresh. And the classic sun room is the perfect place to be for the morning.

The building needs a little TLC in minor areas. The thermostat in our room had been removed and the mounting bracket was just left on the wall. The hvac unit was under the window and had its own controls. In the public areas there are some small spots of cracking paint, and there are small gaps in some of the areas where trim meets wall. But maintenance overall is very good.

All things considered, we had a wonderful time. The University Circle and Case Western campus area are close to major cultural sites. You can’t go wrong there.

The Glidden House has one of the best staff available from the front desk to the housekeepers, to the maintenance of any hotel property. It is quiet, respectful, clean, and the breakfast you will never find paper or plastic utensils of any description. The breakfast staff is professional and service is above reproach. An extremely safe area and in the middle of the Cleveland Clinic and Case Western Reserve campus. Close to numerous restaurants of any taste. You may want to fill your vehicle with fuel as there are no service stations close to the area. Grocery and drug stores are also rare. Just relax in this historic mansion that has a bar in the middle of the home along with continuous enjoyable music from the greats of the 1940's. The history of this large mansion is found everywhere and you will not want for anything. Enjoy.

We stayed here on a 4 day visit to Cleveland to check out the Rock and Roll and Pro Football Hall of Fames.
This hotel has old world charm, like stepping back in time. But still has modern touches. Good AC, nice flatscreen with plenty of channel choices, small fridge and coffee maker in the room. Bed is comfy with 2 pillows per person, plenty of hot water.
Check in was quick and efficient, the woman running the front desk was very friendly and recommended some great places for lunch within walking distance. We arrived early and was able to get into our room right away.
Like everywhere else right now, they are understaffed. Housekeeping will not visit your room during your stay. No problem for us, need towels, they are easy to ask for and get at the front desk.
They offer a full breakfast from 7-10, very delicious. Many options with eggs, home fries and bacon. Yogurt and oatmeal with plenty of topping choices. Nice bar open from Tuesday-Saturday from 4-11, good drinks and a friendly bartender. Coffee and tea available all day.
I highly recommend staying here if you are in the Cleveland area and are looking for a charming place to stay in a great neighborhood.

A former industrialist's home (Glidden paint), this lovely property appears on the National Register of Historic Places. Our selection criteria: on-site parking (at additional cost), free breakfast (the buffet in the sun room was exceptional), and great location. Not only is Glidden a 5 minute walk from the Cleveland Art Museum, its location next to Case Western University means it is near many small moderately priced restaurants established to accommodate the students. We spent two nights and enjoyed our stay.

We often stay at the Glidden House during the Christmas season. It is, obviously, a beautiful old mansion (with a more current addition off the rear). Walking outside on a holiday evening you just need to step back and take your time to appreciate it. Speaking of walking it is an easy one to Severance Hall if you are going to a Christmas concert. But, Christmas isn't the only time to stay here. The Little Italy area is walkable as are the museums right outside the front door so a fun time regardless of the season. Your stay will be even better if you can book one of the original mansion rooms. We also look forward to the great breakfast made even better since you can eat in the beautiful sun porch. Their service has always been appreciated. Once I forgot an item in our room and they immediately mailed it to us at their expense. Another time, due to an activity going on at the hotel, there was no place for us to park. The manager didn't hesitate to move his car so we had a place. We are not from the Cleveland area but we have found the Glidden House to be a great place to stay when visiting anytime of the year.

My husband and I stay at The Glidden House on nearly all of our visits to Cleveland throughout the year. The only time we don't stay at The Glidden House is when all of the rooms are booked, and, on these rare occasions, we miss our "home away from home". Yes, the rooms are lovely and comfortable, the public areas are exquisite, the location is perfect for us, and the breakfasts are plentiful, tasty, and nourishing. But it is the kind, helpful, and respectful members of the staff that make The Glidden House such a special place to stay. Over the years, we have become friends with several of the staff members and always look forward to seeing them and chatting with them during our stay.

Recently, we had the good fortune to meet one of the staff members who, we believe, works primarily "behind the scenes". This staff member's name is Roger, and he epitomizes the warmth and kindness that all of us hope to encounter in our travels. Roger is the type of person who truly cares about the guests and goes above and beyond his job description to ensure the safety and comfort of the guests.

During our most recent visit to Cleveland, my husband contracted the intestinal virus that is making the rounds in the region. Our drive to Cleveland is a long one (7+ hours), so we decided to leave at 4 am. Much to my surprise, when I went to the lobby to get the luggage cart and bring it to our room, a lovely gentleman in uniform came from the kitchen area and asked if I needed help. I told him of our situation and took the cart to our room, packed it, and returned to the lobby. Roger took the loaded cart out to the parking lot and helped me pack the car. While Roger returned the cart to the lobby, I returned to our room to get my husband, who was fatigued, unsteady on his feet, and a bit disoriented from the virus. I brought him to the lobby to wait in a chair while I drove the car around to the front entrance, and Roger said that he would keep an eye on my husband. And watch over him he did! Roger was ready to sprint if my husband made any move to leave the chair without help. When I arrived with the car, Roger helped my husband to the car and made sure that he was safe and ready to travel.

I hope but don't know if we will see Roger again in the near future, since he works while most of the guests are sleeping. So I want to say "Thank you, Roger" for your help, kindness, grace, and efficiency in an otherwise stressful and harried situation. You are a true gentleman and a gentle man, and we are very fortunate to have made your acquaintance.

The beds are terrible. Platform beds do not need a box spring, unless the point is to bash your knee on it constantly. The mattress are old, hard and springy- very uncomfortable. They started vacuuming at 9:00 a.m.on a Saturday! Inconsiderate for guests that arrived late. Rooms should be updated, no fridge or microwave. Not worth $200 a night. I’ve stayed at nicer super 8’s
