What a beautiful place off the beaten track. Two large lagoons accessible via bush land tracks which were well signed and safe. It was quiet and peaceful with lots of bird life, wallabies and emus. The staff were fantastic, incredibly helpful and very friendly. Having coffee in the café overlooking the lagoon was a very special treat for the senses.We... More

Dropped by the wetlands to see the birds passing many signs offering free entry to the visitor centre for guests. That was true enough but be prepared to pay ten dollars if you step outside. A simple charges apply message would be polite. Wetlands and hinterlands are beautiful.

We stayed as a couple along with mum who is 80 from the UK for 1 night. The safari tent had a queen and a single bed although we put mum into a separate tent! The accommodation was spacious and clean with a fridge, kettle and toaster. The toilet and shower were much appreciated. Margaret and Greg were great hosts and... More

We visited this location for the weekend. We stayed in the cabin with our 3 kids. The cabin has 1 full size bed in the bedroom and bunk beds with trundle. The kitchen was well stocked with necessary items. A/C unit is available in the bedroom and it cools the entire cabin. Shower was hot for all 5 showering people.... More

A very warm welcome from Margaret and Greg. A beautiful café on a raised deck overlooking this incredible wetlands. A delightful place to dine or just sit and enjoy the view. Loved the aviary of Gouldian finches. A trip on the wetlands in the electric boat a must with Greg imparting his excellent knowledge. Tents very comfy with all mod... More

If you want coffee and cake in a quiet beautiful space, your 10 minute drive from Mareeba will be well worth it. You share the cafe with an Aviary of stunning endangered GOULDIAN FINCHES - where else can you do that?! The cafe is built on the edge of a wetland lake, so has lovely views over the water and... My wife and I (60 year olds) stayed for two nights in one of the tents on a driving holiday in north Queensland in May. The lodge was very comfortable, clean, well organised with a good shower. We enjoyed the walks and disturbed kangaroos and emus on the trails. The lake is especially pretty in the early morning as the... More

Could not speak highly enough of this beautiful place. Margie and Greg Atkinson are the most gracious hosts and such lovely people. We were made to feel most welcome and felt like we were at a home away from home. Our deluxe tent was immaculate and fully equipped and our meals were delicious and plentiful. Watching the sunset over the... More

We stayed at Jabiru for 4 nights in November 2015. Weather was great - lots of sun, just an hour's worth of rain one morning. They refer to this area as the wetlands - but other an the lovely lagoons, it was pretty much dry as a bone during our stay. The lodge has great views over one of the... More
