Detailed Reviews
We stayed one night at Riverview Lodge overlooking the Daintree River on our way to Cooktown via the Bloomfield Track. The rooms are basic but comfortable, and we loved sitting on the shared deck that runs along the Lodge with comfortable chairs and tables and shared kitchen facilities. What a great design!
We had dinner at the pub opposite the Lodge and the next morning we went on the Crocodile Express river cruise that departs just in front of the lodge for an hour before checking out. And we saw crocodiles close up ! What a great place to stop in a magnificent part of Queensland!

We stayed here in low season and loved it! Peter and Sally are lovely owners and couldn't do enough to ensure our stay was the very best. You can take the croc cruise boat from here as well as the Daintree Wildlife Bird cruise (which we preferred). It's a peaceful location on the banks of the Daintree River with an easy drive to both Cape Tribulation, Mossman and Port Douglas.
The campground offers a really nice grassed area, plenty of birds and the odd croc passing by on the water, (Don't worry, they're far enough away. They don't come ashore because of the jetty area, but often chill out on the bank on the opposite side of the river, so you're quite safe). There's a camp kitchen and laundry facilities for you to use. There's a pub, shop and tour desk across the road. It's well worth taking a look around their Museum.

We stopped here just for one night but it’s on our list of places to return to when we are next up this way. We stayed in one of the rooms - very clean, tidy and well presented - and the large verandah off the rooms over looks the river. It’s set up with a kitchen that has everything a traveler could wish for. Plenty of comfortable chairs too to kick back for a read while enjoying the cool breeze. The pub across the road does good meals as well. A nice spot!

We stayed in a Riverview Queen room for 2 nights in the lodge which was small but comfortable. All rooms shared a large deck with kitchen and lounge area. The noisy campers on the grass below the lodge came up and used the facilities for breakfast, dragging furniture around outside our room at 6am, met for drinks etc and were really noisy even though signage said those facilities were for lodge guests only. There was no management present at our pre arranged arrival time, we got them by phone after asking around at the shop over the road. They said let ourselves into the room and later came and apologised for the inconvenience. They never gave us a key so the next day we had to pack up the car to be able to leave the room for a tour then bring everything back in again later. Apparently management had gone fishing and were not contactable all day. Pretty ordinary experience at this place. Wouldn't recommend unless you like to get up at 6am on holidays and listen to loud conversations 2m from your bed.

Chosen because of limited acommodation here, really just 6? 50s style barrack rooms backing onto a deck with an electric kettle, a few spoons and forks, and a one plate portable stove. And a microwave (dirty). Shower was a trickle, no real interaction with the 'hosts'. Overlooks a muddy camping ground with other grumpy 'guests'.
There are limited facilities in this area: only hotel is closed Monday Tuesday, cafe limited times and offerings.

Absolute gorgeous views from the campsite onto the river especially at dusk!! You are literally on the edge of the river with a view of the rainforest and so close to the croc cruise. You can sit and watch a croc swim whilst having dinner. We stayed on an unpowered site and had everything we needed and the owners of the site couldn't be more friendly and helpful, such a great stay. They made sure to make us feel at home and answered any questions we had. All the old antiques made it a rustic and authentic place to stay. Would 10 out of 10 recommend.

The spacious deck overlooking the beautiful Daintree river was our highlight for this affordable & charming accommodation. North Queensland historical & art objects decorated our clean comfortable room, the walkway and the delightful small museum. Rebecca was so helpful at check-in and the nice young man at check-out was a pleasure. We’ll be back

The location is perfect and the prices are not extreme but still average for what you get. I was a little disappointed by the misleading advertising on booking.com that listed this place as having a kitchenette and microwave kettle etc when in fact that is a separate communal area. Had to wait for others to be done with the kitchen to use it each night. We were told to just park out the front near the street so I wouldn’t say that’s “parking” as was advertised.
We didn’t even get shampoo or conditioner just a bar of soap. No milk in the fridge either hmm..
I did like the serenity and the view from the deck. I also thought the staff were friendly and helpful

Totally overrated. Caravan amenities in very poor state. Broken tiles in showers lying on floor. Old and dilapidated. Owners rude and grumpy. Same as it was 35 years ago. No improvements since then. Stairs to lower level noisy if camped beside. Sites cramped and some very unlevel. Overpriced for what you get at $40 per night.
