Getting to the hotel is not for the lighthearted, the 10 mile drive from Hwy 101 actually takes over a half hour with ups and downs and constant turns in the road, as a passenger I felt like I was on a really old rollercoaster ride getting whiplash. As a driver my husband had sweaty hands driving the super narrow,... More

Spent a night at the beautiful Oceanfront Inn. Amazing panoramic view of the ocean and gorgeous stars at night. If you will be arriving after 6pm, be sure to call ahead and they will help you get into your room after the office closes. Room was comfortable and clean. The staff was helpful and friendly. A two minute walk from... More

I wish I could leave a great review for this place. 10 years ago it was new & beautiful. Now, it is falling apart. Poor cleaning service (especially the 1st floor apartment) and apparently the owner doesn't know the word "maintenance". Roof leaks. Kitchen poorly equipped, not one usable frying pan. The one upside was the innkeeper, who was very... More

Shelter Cove is one of my favorite places in the world. The first time I discovered it I was on my motorcycle more than twenty years ago. Now I have two dogs who go everywhere with me, so I was ecstatic when I found out this gem was dog friendly! The customer service was superb, they brought me dog treats,... More

Apartment #1 ground floor. Cheap vinyl floor tiles buckle and come loose. Most uncomfortable totaly worn out sofa that even a second hand shop would refuse to take in. Dirt and dust under sofa. Dirty windows, filthy base frame of sliding door, filth accumulated over weeks or months. Disgusting. Kitchen : dirty knives, forks, spoons, bottle opener, bake basket, frying... More

Hippies camping out everywhere. Hidden gem! Explorer and hiker hangouts galore! Great food and wine!!!! Worth the drive. Just make sure you load up on supplies and snacks. There is literally one shop in this tiny remote getaway town. Highly recommended for those that appreciate nature and downtime off the grid. The rooms were stocked with free snacks and a... More

While not easy to get to, the view from eveyone's oceanfront room makes it well worth it. Shelter Cove is quiet, very quiet. It makes it really easy to just hang out on the lanai or to stroll along the beach adjoining the inn. The room was immaculate and they are very dog friendly. Enjoy!

The property was shabby and disappointing. We stayed in Apartment #1, it is the south end unit, and I believe it is the best location in all of Shelter Cove. The cheap vinyl tile floor was dirty and buckled. The sofa and chair were very uncomfortable, and so old it was disintegrating. It was literally flaking away all over everything.... More

We stays in a 3 floor corner room with a fantastic view right over the ocean. We slept great with the window open listening to the waves crashing into the cliffs below. The hotel was super friendly and accommodating. Only negative is that is that everything closes early and the hotel restaurant was closed for the season. So eat before... More

As cool as this place is, I don't know that it's worth the trouble getting here. Don't get me wrong, I love driving crazy roads, but the road in here got old fast. There is nothing here other than the ocean. The rooms are nice, no air conditioning. It's right on the water. Stop in the Redway and get groceries... More
