One of the best hotels that we have ever stayed in and hence we are repeat visitors. On this occasion we treated ourselves to a Garden Room, amazing, for our 19th Wedding Anniversary. Champagne bar was awesome and Laura was a great waitress and bar hostess. The whole experience would have been a ten out of ten if it were not for the Reflections restaurant. We dined here on our first evening and it was shocking. Menu not a great array of choice, starter came cold, main course took a further hour to be served, and when it came my steak was so fatty I had to leave half of it. Menu said the fish dish was Cod and when it came it was Salmon. We also then recalled that on our last visit we had also had a shocking experience in Reflections, so it has not got any better. The next day, which was our Anniversary, we cancelled our evening reservation for dinner at the Hotel and went to the Crown pub up in the village as we were never going to eat in Reflections again. The restaurant has made us question if we would book again at this Hotel, as the wider experience is amazing but this one aspect of a very expensive, luxurious and once a year treat, is completely let down by the Reflections restaurant. Spending the type of money this Hotel costs should result in a fine dining experience that they could be proud of. Unfortunately the dining experience resembles a very poor, low quality retail outlet restaurant which is massively over priced. May not be back unless they sort out this aspect of their Hotel. p.s. The Crown pub up the road was lovely for food. We had an amazing meal there and even they said they had many visitors to their pub from the Hotel all complaining of the standard of the food there.

We stayed here for a few days after our wedding and it was superb, we arrived into our room with rose petals on the bed, champagne and macaroons! The dinners were amazing both the steak and the lamb went down a treat. Breakfast was good but could of been better (quantity) The spa treatments were great, I went for the Swedish message and my husband wanted the Bamboo massage however unfortunately was unable to and had the replacement hot stones one. Top tip: Use the spa facilities early morning, we went around 8:30am and were the only ones there!!

Stayed the night of the 6th of October. This was a really disappointing experience. I took my wife here for her birthday, just a one night stay, but with Dinner & a couple of spa treatments. To be fair, the hotel is really pretty, the room was nice and the location is great. We chose to spend £700 on a local break as apposed to going overseas for a little sun, so we were really looking forward to it. Check was fine, we got offered a little tour of the hotel which we accepted and were shown around by a young gentleman who was great. My wife went for her massage and was anything but blown away by the experience..... The masseuse did not stop talking the entire treatment (a maternity massage, which was average at best) to the point where she even explained that she was a Chelsea FC supporter… I have no idea why, my wife has no interest in football at all. My wife wanted nothing more than to switch off and enjoy the massage in silence, and tried her hardest to, but this massage therapist didn't stop talking! Nobody wants to go to a tranquil calm massage and have to engage in conversation the whole time. Her facial a little later in the afternoon was much better, the therapist was far more professional, she understood the assignment, it was peaceful and calming. Onto the evening meal..... Again we were looking forward to this, the things we had read about he restaurant filled us with confidence. The experience was once again really disappointing. I ordered the lamb dish, my wife ordered the risotto from the vegan menu and we ordered a side of greens to share. The wrong risotto arrived, we pointed this out the the server quickly and took it way swiftly and assured us the new dish would be up 'in a couple of minutes' - 10min later, after I had finished my dish, my wife's risotto arrived. It was lumpy and rushed. To top this off our greens had still not arrived even after we had pointed this out 5min earlier. After the Risotto arrived, the server explained the kitchen 'never got the ticket' so it had not been made but he'd offer us a free desert. After my wife had eaten her under cooked, lumpy risotto (or of much of it as she could) the greens were then brought out to us by another waiter... We then had to explain to them that we weren't having those as the other waiter wasn't in sight... We both had sorbet for desert, this was ok (you cant mess that up). Half way through the desert, another waiter tried to give us two other deserts which we thought was strange.... Only to find those two deserts on our bill! This had to be removed which it was. This trip meant a lot to us. It was a celebration of my wife's birthday and essentially our one trip this year.... This was not a 5* experience, and having paid over £700 for a one night experience, at the very least we could have been made to feel special... There was no effort to make the experience bespoke or unique, it felt as if no one cared and we were just another £700 bill to help pay wages. Why were we not asked (apart from the young man doing the tour) if we were celebrating anything, or why we were there? It's a really basic thing to do and easy way to tailor an experience for a client. Experience is everything when there is so much competition around and you fell so short in delivering a 5* experience or outperforming your competitors. But most of all, you fell short in delivering true value for money which could so easily be achieved through great experiences. So, so disappointing with our stay. It’s also now into the 4th day after I sent my first review/ compliant via Facebook and Google reviews and no one has even bothered to make contact with me… They obviously don’t even care about a customer who has had a poor experience….

Wow! Superb hotel with amazing food and very happy, attentive staff. We where given a free room upgrade to a Garden Suite which was absolutely stunning! Smart, contemporary and airy. The whole of design throughout the hotel was luxurious but maintained comfortable. You felt you were somewhere special. Dinner was extremely good. We loved that the waiter honestly paired our wine, rather then suggesting the more expensive bottles. Only slight negative is some of the spa staff were not as customer focused and there needs to be an additional area to relax by the pool - it was busy and felt cramped and a bit noisy. Thomas in the restaurant, Charlotte on reception and Charles, guest services manager need a personal mention for great customer service. We will be back!
