After cancelling a trip to Spain to celebrate a special anniversary I was looking for somewhere special to stay for a couple of nights. Could not have chosen better. Having stayed in 2-3 other hotels since May 17 with all the lockdown issues, AH have got it right. Other than masks it’s almost like normal. The notification of room cleaning times are normal but as it was a special occasion I asked for 1st day room servicing and they obliged . In fairness I did chose a top room and then bid for an upgrade and was successful for £20! What a room (no 5 Great Dixter in new block) a 2 storey suite so big we got lost! The only criticism is who ever built the new block should have swapped it round. The view is “only” of the hotel gardens, look the other way outside and the view across the countryside is spectacular Food was good, service excellent no complaints We had an odd issue with bath plug a d they were very attentive and efficient in sorting it If you have a special occasion to celebrate I’d recommend looking here

The biggest warning is that the Junior Suite (Goodwood) and others I imagine that are on the 1st floor of main building facing the back have to listen 24 hrs a day to the sound of the kitchen extractor fan. Even with windows closed I had to call to ask for it to be turned off to get to sleep, just to be woken at ~6am as they started breakfast. Comparable hotels are quiet. The extractor fan is also annoying if you eat in the restaurant courtyard - where you get served breakfast. Despite complaining and asking to move to a quieter room, management did not come to me. The architecture and room finishes are good. The Spa was well run. But be careful of their Spa package - they offer treatments as part of package, but you cannot book the slot until you check-in. I overheard one poor couple - there for one night being told no slots available for the inclusive treatments so they could have a voucher valid for a year! not exactly a nice Spa retreat - when you cannot get the treatments. Staff were very friendly, but there was a lack of attention to detail you do not get at comparably priced hotels. External seating works well and on a lovely summer evening supping a glass of champagne outside the front of the house was great. My Top Tip if staying at Alexander House. if you have time for a walk - about 1.5 mile walk away is a vineyard (Kingscote) that has a lovely outside area where you can buy a glass of their wine and cheeses etc and sit outside relaxing - lovely on a sunny day!

I stayed at Alexander House between 21 - 23 May 2021, celebrating my 21st birthday with my boyfriend. This was our second time staying at Alexander House, and we absolutely loved it. The service is impeccable, particularly in the champagne bar, where staff were quick to place menus down for you and take your order, as due to COVID-19 restrictions you can no longer go up to the bar to place your order. Also, the variety and quality of the cocktails is brilliant. We had an amazing two nights at the hotel, which included a wonderful full-body massage by the lovely Marie. I highly recommend booking a massage with Marie if you are visiting! The spa facilities were spotless, and the booking system in place at the spa meant it was never over-crowded when we visited. We also visited Reflections restaurant for dinner during our stay, which was lovely and the food is of a very high quality. The atmosphere in Reflections is great, and the staff were very attentive. Thank you so much to all the staff at Alexander House for looking after us so well, we will definitely be returning in the future!

A Beautiful hotel in lovely countryside, just the perfect setting to relax. We stayed in the Garden suite, 16, which was spacious and has a lovely balcony overlooking the garden. The spa facilities are very good and well managed. There are nice swimming and hot tub facilities inside and a wonderful garden area to enjoy the sun and the fresh air outside. A perfect place to relax. My wife had two different massage treatments, which were excellent.
