We visited Thirsk in Sept to celebrate a friends anniversary. The Kirkgate is very central and easy walking to anywhere in the town. The rooms are a good size and we were made very welcome by the host. He was very informative and knew the area well. Breakfast was freshly cooked. A very enjoyable stay

My wife and I stayed at the Kirkgate House last night as we were visiting friends in Thirsk and this accommodation fitted the bill in terms of proximity and price. We arrived at 3pm and were warmly welcomed by the owner Geoffrey. There is ample free car parking at the rear of the property and the gap is 'snug' to... More

Actually it's next door! The owner, Geoff, is very friendly and will give you good advice where to have your dinner and other points about the neighbourhood . The rooms are very good and the breakfast is superb!

We stayed here last night and all of us (5 of us stayed in 3 rooms... A twin, a family and a King) and we loved it! Geoffrey, the owner was a fabulous character, so friendly and helpful. Our room (family room, room 9) was on the top floor and was lovely. Spotless room, lovely bed, beautiful decor and the... More

I chose Kirkgate House because it is within easy walking distance of the rail station. The small hotel is clean, comfortable, and pleasingly decorated. My room overlooked the lovely garden. The owners are helpful, giving information about local attractions and history. They told me that the front part is quite old, 15th century, with the rear portion added in the... More

What a lovely Hotel this is. From the moment I arrived Geoffrey gave me a worm welcome and couldn't have been more helpful. Just a few doors away from the James Herriot Visitor centre. A perfect base for exploring Thirsk and the surrounding area.

Great location, just a few minutes walk from town centre with its many pubs and restaurants. Room was spotlessly clean, and breakfast was delicious. The proprietor, Geoff, was a great source of information, from best places to eat, to bus services We will definitely go again and would recommend it to anyone.
