We were seated in the library in the back, as we were 8 people. My starter was the fish cakes: good without being particularly flavoursome. Burger tasted like proper minced steak and was very good. Prawns were tasty but crab salad was a bit bland, sitting on a bed of small new potatoes, swimming in mayo. Service was very good... More

Many years ago in a different life, I visited The Ship to eat and drink during a very cold Xmas break in a large neighbouring house. I loved it then and I love it even more now. This pub/hotel is part of the Flying Kiwi Inns group, owned by Chris Coubrough and he has done a superb job, following years... More

My husband and I have stayed at the Ship a few times and loved the rooms, food and location it had the whole package. Two years ago we stayed and the rooms and staff still great but the food was bad, even the grey scrambled eggs for breakfast. We keep hoping this will improve and from the reviews I see... More

I can't make out from your review whether you stayed recently or posted this in response to a stay two years ago. If it's the former then I all I can say is that I'm sorry we didn't meet with your expectations and assure you that my staff and I do our very best every day of every week to... More

We spent a week based in Brancaster and used the pub to dine and for beers. In my view the best pub / restaurant on the North Norfolk coast - the staff are super professional and very welcoming and always ask about your day. The food is fantastic, the San Miguel ice cold and the G&Ts not only hit the... More

We were stuck for somewhere to stay for three nights, with our Golden Retriever, and came upon the Ship. Trusting to luck we arrived knowing nothing about the hotel or the area. My only experience of Kiwi Hospitality is to have been looked after by Ski Chalet Hosts from NZ and although we never met the "Boss", he has done... More

Tastefully decorated room - we stayed in room four with the roll top bath. The space in the room was perfect - large enough to easily relax in. It was an ideal one night getaway - all Norfolk coast with beach walks a short drive away. Dinner and breakfast were great - good selection, local foods and good service. The... More

Absolutely outstanding food, gorgeous location and we were lucky enough to have the private room which was beautifully decorated. All courses were fabulous and a wide variety of meals for a Sunday lunch menu, the seafood dishes were delicious, I can't fault the experience :)

We stayed here for a short break for 3 nights before the summer silly season. The room was really well furnished although could do with less ornaments and useless clutter like books you wouldn't be interested in as they have no relevance. This would allow space for a working side. The rooms are very sound proofed but to the point... More

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to review us. I'm delighted that you found my staff so helpful and attentive. I'd expect nothing less. I'm sorry, however, that our food fell short of your expectations, and I shall look into the matters you have mentioned. What I will say is that my kitchen staff and I strive constantly... More

Friends staying with us in Norfolk, booked the Ship as we had eaten there and enjoyed it. First signs were good, a nice table and a friendly welcome. Menu was a little disappointing, nothing any of us really fancied for a starter so we decided to go for mains and dessert. My steak was nice, fish and chips were good,... More

My staff and I work tirelessly to ensure that every diner who visits The Ship enjoys the very best, seasonal, locally-sourced produce cooked to the highest possible standard, and it’s reassuring to see that most of the food you ordered hit the right note. I’m very sorry our lemon sole didn’t meet with your friend’s approval. Unfortunately lemon sole is... More

Really like this Hotel. Stayed there twice now, once in February 2016 (liked it so much that we re-booked as we were checking out) and once in May 2016. The rooms are lovely, the food is good quality and honest, service is friendly and you are only a 15 minute walk to one of the biggest, flattest, sandiest and quietest... More
