My wife and I stayed for one night on 17 January 2017 at a special bargain rate of £60 per room including breakfast. The hotel had been taken over in December 2015 and the new owners spent nearly six months refurbishing to a very high standard, opening in May 2016. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful and seemed...

We stayed here with family and friends and dogs. Excellent location for wonderful walks with the dogs on the marshes and beach. Very comfortable hotel with modern well equipped rooms and excellent food. Staff friendly and approachable. All 4 of the rooms our party had were excellent. Rooms available on 3 floors - if taking a dog, the ground floor...

First the positives. Within the last year to 18 months The Chequers has had the grey paint treatment that is currently fashionable: bath/bedroom decor is of a good standard. Our bedroom was directly above an eating area but there were no problems with noise. However, after having an evening meal, both my wife and I were violently ill all night....

This is a lovely hotel in a superb location on the North Norfolk Coast. It is a 10-15 minute walk from the sea and situated on the main coast road, the A149. However, traffic noise is not a problem as the road is not busy out of season. The hotel has recently been refurbished to a high standard and the...

We cannot speak highly enough of our experience at the Chequers Inn. We received a very warm welcome on our arrival staying in the Aspen suite, which was superb. Luxury deep pile carpets and a freestanding bath in the room along with complimentary sloe gin - lovely. We had a very good meal in the bar sat by the roaring...

Very quiet just before xmas but great atmosphere and food choices - quality and food presentation were superb. Not very expensive and the staff were really helpful and friendly. We sat in the bar area but there is a restaurant and outside eating cabins with heaters - good for families too .

Visited with friends whilst on a pre-Christmas break staying in Thornham, Nirfolk. Such a great pub with very attentative staff, great selection of real ale and fantastic food. Highly recommended and one of the best pubs I have been to in England. Looking forward to visiting again before the end of our short break. A must for all. Best pub...

We spent an excellent night at this very welcoming hotel. We took advantage of their offer of tickets and coach transfer to an evening performance of Thursford Christmas Spectacular (which was just that!). We had a Sunday lunch to die for and an extremely comfortable room. The manager, Steve, was ever present during lunch ensuring guests had everything they wanted....

Off back tomorrow for another stay with some elderly friends. We know how helpful the management and staff will be - as always! The menu provides plenty of good value choice. For ourselves there is a huge choice of walks in the area.

After a rather frosty reception from the bar maid, we went on to have a really enjoyable evening in one of the circular pavilions, situated in the beer garden. It was heated, extremely comfortable and great for our group of 9. The food was so tasty and between us all we had a mix of choices and none of us...

Thank you for your review and the recommendations you have already given. The pavilions have been a great success and given us a different outdoor eating experience during the summer and now the colder weather is finally with us. I am sorry to hear of your initial impression and can assure you it is not the standard of reception we...
