My husband and I stayed here for two nights at the beginning of October to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were welcomed with tea and home-made cake by Steve and Julie, and things just went on getting better! Our room - the Garden Room - is beautifully appointed and very quiet at night. Breakfast was delicious - especially the black... More

We stayed for 2 nights in September 2015 and will definitely be returning. Julie and Stephen are wonderful hosts and have created a beautiful place to stay in a wonderful location. We stayed in the room overlooking the secluded and pretty garden. It was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. There is also a cosy residents' lounge where you can share... More

Breakfast very good. Room very comfortable. B&B is full of character and history. Has a feel of homeliness and quality. Julie & Steven were knowledgable about area and helped make this weekend very special. Peak Railway a must and Haddon Hall a delight. Would definitely like to stay again.

We had an excellent short break visiting Haddon Hall and Chatsworth and spending a day in the lovely Peak District countryside. Steven and Julie were assiduous and delightful hosts and they have put a tremendous effort into making the Old Shoulder of Mutton a most comfortable and cheerful place to stay.

We returned to the Old Shoulder of Mutton recently for another relaxing stay. Steven and Julie are excellent hosts and this time we added to our trip the option of a ride out in Steven's Model A vintage Ford. What a great way to see the countryside in a magnificent car. As Arnold said....'We will return'!

We stayed one night as a half-way stopover on a long journey. Finding it was straightforward although we did use a GPS. Parking was on the road immediately outside. The room was great, a comfortable bed and a nice bathroom. There's also a shared lounge where the wi-fi functioned a little better than in the bedroom. The highlight of the... More
