Really lovely old pub with friendly atmosphere. Food good value for money, Gluten Free available. I had the G/F fish and chips..lovely! Lots of original features in a great village. Village itself is well worth a walk round.

Nice enough pub, sat outside to eat, lovely food, had steak sandwiches and fries, well presented and well cooked, will visit again if passing through, pleasant staff, had dogs with us which were not frowned at as they are in some venues, dog water bowl outside with fresh water

Good food, good ales, good pub! If you want good pub food look no further. Had a couple of meals here and had no complaints. Steak and mushroom ale pie was lovely, nice chunks of steak and burgers were nice and tasty. Friendly service, food piping hot and good guest and house ales to wash it all down!. Will be... More

This is what I call a proper English pub, a great selection of real ales in wonderful condition served with a smile in a traditional village style atmosphere. The pub has good eating facilities both bar style and a small cosy restaurant, the food is good quality pub food and well priced, so if you are out for a walk... More

Went last winter for a a couple of days. It looked lovely from outside. Once we got in, a young lady welcomed us with a huge smile. Very helpfull and friendly. She showed us our room, very nice and cosy. The bathroom quite poor, but perfect (I guess you don't need more). We spend the evening at the pub, having... More

Booked here for one night, only place available 4 weeks before!!! A proper local pub with great rooms, great locals and great beer. Room 3 has a large 4 poster bed, which is nice and comfortable probably not necessary but nice. Room has a settee and good size ensure. Only criticism is the carpet, it's a bit colourful and doesn't... More

We were in Tideswell for the Food Festival with our 2dogs. The weather turned bad and we spotted this pub which is dog friendly and dove in. We were so glad we did. There was an old black grate with a roaring coal fire, beautifully clean flag floors in front of a lovely bar. The staff were very friendly and... More

An old building who always lied here in the middle of this lovely old village in the Peak District , Rooms are clean and the staff very friendly. This was our second choice after a six mile walk, the plan had been a fish & chip shop lunch but it wasn't open the day we visited Tideswell. Spotted the Horse & Jockey, it looked very inviting and in we went. So pleased we did... a traditional Derbyshire village public house with a lovely warm fire, very friendly staff,... More
